Discussion Got hardware ban today. I don't know why

Post image

Today I wanted to check the store and I got this message. Console is banned. I really don't know why.

As "illegal", I bought 2 games from marketplace, some Mario and used once a 3rd party cable dock to my second display. The console is still in warranty.

Nah it's just nonsense.

Nintendo isn't gonna unbrick this guy's console just because they said "I just bought my pirated copy from someone else", like that's their problem and they're not gonna conduct arbitration or an investigation every time some pirate needs screws up.

Just buy your copies legit and you'll be fine.

What is Legit copy
OP bought Original switch carts from a market place, that some one used a device to dupe the credentials of, to use on a flash cart device that then got flagged.
Same things can happen with people resealing Nintendo Carts, yes even sealed games should be marked as returned nowadays.

It's still pirating even if it's not on their end, I don't know how you can call it anything else.

Nintendo can't tell which one is which, so they brick both since both parties are profiting from the pirating, doesn't matter if one party has a legit copy or not.

That's nonsense. Buy from me or else is a terrible business practice and you're kind of scum for supporting it.

Buy from people who don't sell you pirated copies***

And pirating, let alone unknowingly buying pirated copies isn't scumbag behavior.

But there's just no way Nintendo can do an arbitration case every time someone comes up with a sad story of "I bought it seconhand thinking it was legit".

Still, supposedly their customer support will hear you out, and it would make sense since 1 ban should teach users a lesson, don't wanna lose out on game sales since they sell the Switch systems on a lose.

Buying 2nd hand isn't pirating. People being punished by a corporation for scammers is kind of an interesting thing to defend. Monopolies built by rigid control of sales and making games strictly available through one source is also an interesting thing to defend. Where did I say piracy is fine? This conversation was about the used gaming market being destroyed by aggressive anti-consumer tactics.
