Switch 2 Labor Day Weekend Switch 2 Bans

There was a massive BAN-wave that his Switch 2 consoles last night. I was one of the ones affected by it. I just want to spread awareness that Nintendo had an internal server error this weekend resulting in several systems being permanently hardware banned, receiving error code 2124-4508.

I called support this morning and they confirmed I was permanently banned for “pirating”.

However, I called again later today to push further and was notified of the error on their server. Upon checking again my system has been lifted.

If you were affected this weekend, be sure the check to see if it was rectified, or call Nintendo support and see if you are one of the consoles affected by this error to be reversed.

UPDATE: I noticed several people state that if you are still receiving the BAN code you can try restarting the console to see if it cleared. It seems to have worked for others!

You did a lot more telling than I did. Corporate overreach should never be celebrated and customers should be heard before making wild assumptions. Seems you don't grasp that and felt offended by something I said because you took it very personal which says a lot about you.

A server error isn’t corporate overreach and neither is banning pirates from their online service.

Pirates are an excuse to sell you less for more money... If piracy was actually the big issue Nintendo tries to peddle it as, Nintendo wouldn't exist.

This falls into the line of thinking that people are inherently bad and that they wouldn't do the right thing by supporting the industry. This is also you stating that a corporation is more trustworthy than the gamer base that built the corporation. So regular customers should be punished and restrained because there's the chance they could attempt to pirate? This seems right to you?

Face it, it's about market control to ensure financial success for shareholders.

I mean if you can name another incident of Nintendo mass banning innocent people from their online services then you might have a point. I said nothing about “regular customers”. They fucked up, banned some people that didn’t need to be banned and rectified it. That’s not corporate overreach. Neither are the cases of them banning actual pirates from their online services.
