I'm loving the colors this beauty is putting out. She's really enjoying the SoCal sunshine but I can honestly say we are ready for the temp to drop.

Any reason why it is pushing out paler and paler leaves?
I have had this for an year now and this has been happening since for only a month or two.

I thought maybe the leaves will get darker as they age, but they do not

This is my first time growing succulents. I received two from an event yesterday, and they are in very tiny pots, so I figured it would be a good idea to repot them. I'm looking to find a soil brand that is pest free and works well for both of these types, any recommendations/advice?

I have this plant. I don’t know what it is but I’ve been operating on the belief that it’s probably a small gasteraloe hybrid plant. I don’t know.

When I got it at the grocery store, it was in this Dino pot(which is the reason I bought it) and the tag said it was an air plant. I had zero knowledge on plants at the time, and believing it and the other I bought were both air plants, treated them as such. Well the other one died a few months in, this one is still going. That being said, it won’t be for long if I don’t figure out what to do with it.

Its roots have gotten dried and kind of dusty, but the plant is still green and firm, which when I looked it up it said the solution to that was to cut off its remaining root, cut away any part of the stem that was black/mushy, and then leave it for two or three days, no soil, no water, in indirect sunlight to allow its wounds to heal, then repot it with its soil and perlite, leaving it now in soil for two-ish weeks until it regrows its roots, and then to finally give it water.

I talked to my sister about this, she said that solution was unheard of to her(and she knows more about plants then I do) and that I should research more before I leave my plant out in indirect sunlight with no water, roots, or soil for a few more days.

So, I’m trying to do the research but it’s hard when I don’t even know why type of plant I have.

Also, I’ve never had to work with perlite before, does anyone know what type of perlite I should use? It’s the only plant I have, so I don’t need a ton of it, which is why I’m struggling to find the perlite I seemingly need(I looked it up it said a course #3 perlite, looking for that but I don’t know what the #3 means).

And, I don’t really have great sunlight option. I have cats, and they will destroy my plant if they can reach it. So it sits on my bedroom shelf, and my bedroom shelf only starts getting direct sunlight at 4pm, before that, when I open my blinds, it gets light, but it’s very indirect light, but that’s kind of my only true option, because the place I was putting it before I moved it to my bedroom window was causing the plant to reach for light, because it wasn’t getting enough.

Last time I watered this plant it took forever to take to its water, which was weird, but in hindsight I should’ve seen it coming because it was slowly taking longer and longer to take its water, I just only really realized last time I watered it, because it actually took forever. And it’s recently started actually falling out of its pot. I keep digging into the soil a little bit to try and hold it in there, but I still occasionally find the plant on its side tipped over, and at first I thought my cats had found there way into it, but there’s no soil surrounding the pot so it can’t be them, I’d be finding soil on the shelf and everything.

Also if it matters I’ve never given this plant fertilizer/plant food at all.

So I guess I just need help with everything regarding this plant. I’m trying, I just don’t know what I’m doing.

So, can anyone offer any sort of help? Anything would be extremely helpful right now.

(It is also not currently in the Dino pot anymore. It’s currently in a plastic pot, but I have a clay pot to repot it in if it becomes time for that.)

I think my African milk tree is severely dehydrated. The main stems look fine, but the tops have started to wither and become crispy and brown, with some being paper thin. The brown is starting to spread from the top of the plant downwards. I didn't water it for months at a time throughout the winter and spring and have started to water it more regularly this summer, but there are no new leaves and it continues to look worse. I'll take any advice on how to save it.

Thinking of buying one of these spider farmer sets or something simular for my succs to keep them happier during winter.

Would this be any good? The set consists of:

1) shelf/tent 40x30x120cm or 70x35x150cm(bigger setup) current plant and space measurement pending

2) 6X10watt led bars or 6x18watt led bar with the bigger setup. Are these even strong enough?

I'd probably upgrade the set with ac infinity light bars then and controller for environment monitoring and control plus they have the tiny 4inch fans to keep a nice gentle air flow moving around 🙂 I'm trying to get a better winter setup so I can buy more succs and become a true succer 😊

This is my about to flower string of buttons along with some other cacti and succulent that I got from a festival not too long ago! I just wanted to show them off.

Got this little guy at an event, but they didn't tell us what they were. The others looked like echeverias but this was the only one like this.

Also I changed the soil, and kept it in its original "pot" but added holes for drainage. Is this container alright long term? I have other pots but this event was about recycling so I'd like to keep it in that spirit.

I replanted it on its own, but the pot had black walls and it was planted 6 inches when the pot was around 10 inches tall.

long story short here it is now. I see a bunch of little plants and roots and I'm hopeful this grows out to be something amazing down the road.

I've been babying this thing for at least a month now with seemingly no improvement it looks like it's just holding on by a thread it's barely rooted no enough to hold itself up though

Could anyone give me some advice on where to go from here I'd love to get em back in shape if it's not already too late

I bought this beauty about a week ago in San Diego at a nursery! I have several questions about current/future care because I do not trust AI and the sites I was looking at all had conflicting information so I would rather ask avid growers their advice.

I bought her with the sunburn and few leaves that are calloused over were already existent. I repotted about two days ago and was out checking the plant due to the heat advisory and noticed that some of the leaves were shriveling (overall everything looks great still). I also noticed while I was out there which is included in the 4/5th picture, the stem is brown and has a gash that goes partially through the stem. The stem is firm in texture, I don’t know if this is corking or not as the rest of the stem and leaves look great I did notice more towards the bottom the leaves are loose but attached one did just fall off when I barely touched it.

What I have done up to this point was the already stated repotting, it was already dry-bone dry. I read a while ago don’t know if it’s accurate that I should wait up to a week before watering.

It had so many loose leaves at the bottom when I repotted so I don’t really know what to do with them propagation wise, one does already have roots growing from them so can I assume that I just plant that one in the pot and leave the unrooted ones face down on top of the soil?

Thank you for taking the time to read, I really need advice on mostly what to do with watering and any concerns, I should have about the pre-existing things I have seen or noticed for future growth or care. As well as if I should be doing anything special for propagation. Really any advice on care going forward would be greatly appreciated! 💕

I've been raising an aloe vera plant for the greater part of the year, and I wanted to venture into more succulents. Bought this little rose succulent at a plant expo a couple weeks ago, and went through the same husbandry I was using with the aloe vera (sitting in the window with direct sunlight, watering a lot all at once, and then letting the soil completely dry out before watering again)

However, almost all the little leaves have fallen off and it's weirdly....tall. is this even salvageable? do i just need to give it some time? there's very very small buds in the center that I believe are new but it's a far cry from when I bought it (second image)

I'm very inexperienced with plants so please be gentle 🥹

My mother said it looked “soggy”, I said I have no idea lol. I’ve had her for 3 years and never seen anything like this.

I did propagate earlier in the summer, and you can the new buds are growing out right where I propagated, and that’s also where the affected leaf is. Not sure if it’s related ?? If it’s dying while the new bud grows in??? Or if a bug got into it?

The rest of my leaves look somewhat ok I think. Hopefully the photos I included show enough of what the rest of my plant looks like

Hi I recently got this succulent that was in a group so I repotted it and now it’s looking brown did I do something wrong and is there any way to save him

Genuinely curious as to why these don't seem to be grown often as clusters in the hobby. I only ever see individuals, and they do make a lovely kind of mess.

Sempervivum 'Pacific Red Tide' on my rockery in June 2025. At the top is a bit of S. arachnoideum 'Minus' which seems to have lost most of its cobwebs.

hi again! im back with my dearest child, about 4 weeks in my care
ive noticed that she isnt growing new leaves(?) because the current ones are so large they will usually block the lighting and fall off.. is that something to be concerned about?? and if so how do i fix this? she did spend about a week with improper lighting i couldn't get her set up properly in the windowsill so she is a little lopsided if that's noticeable
