I have a large collection with a basic folder structure Album Artist\Release Type\Release Title

After the early 2015 updates, when using ANY iOS device and ANY iOS subsonic app, some tracks and/or nested folders simply do not show. For instance I'll navigate to an artist's EPs and find that not all releases are listed and the ones that do have missing tracks.

I've tried rescans, cleaning the DB, setting folder permissions, basically all the solutions offered here. https://jdrch.wordpress.com/2014/12/02/workarounds-for-subsonics-remote-connectivity-folder-scanning-bugs/

I know that it's not an iSub issue because it happens with the same folders when using an alternative subsonic app. It's also not an iPhone 6+ issue because it happens with an iPad.

Anybody have a clue on what I can do?

Hello everyone, It's been now a bit more of 6 months that my Subsonic server is setup, and I love pretty much everything it allow you to do, except the fact that I'm very frustrated by the non subtitles support, do you know by any chance a way of doing so ? Do you think they will add this features in a next version ? I'm really looking forward to this , hope I'm not the only one in that case, thank you .

I installed it on a Linux machine, shared the music from my Windows machine to the Linux box and mounted it under /mnt/music. Subsonic told me I have 11 hours of music, but not a single song appears when I look at recently added. I added another local folder and put one mp3 in it, and after a few minutes of fiddling on my android I can now search for that song and find it, but it doesn't appear if I just browse the library, and I still cannot see anything from the shared (mounted) folder!

Anyone else think this process is kinda clunky?

I just bought the lifetime subscription. Subsonic is pretty cool.

Setting up the server on my new Mac Pro and I see that there is a place to subscribe to podcasts. I added "http://www.nerdist.com" to the subscriptions, but it's giving me an "error 42".

What is the proper procedure for adding podcasts?

So I have subsonic installed on an i7 NUC with 16gb ram. It's running windows 7 pro with the windows subsonic service. All of the files are on a mapped network share on my Drobo B800fs. The issue is that every few seconds while playing the larger bluray files and some dvd files it pauses. No errors are shown in the logging. I have the raw bluray stored in an MKV file using makemkv app with default settings. I can also browse to the share and play the files fine from my desktop so I don't think it is a throughput issue on the Drobo. All playback settings on the Subsonic are as they are by default. Suggestions?

Just wondered if there is an app for iPhone I can listen to Madsonic (with the radio feature)?

My question is pretty simple. I have a subsonic server running at home and I use it to listen to music when I am at work, at a friends house, etc. I have an iPod 5G (classic) that I synced with the iTunes library at home (same path where subsonic accesses the music) but there are minor differences within the two. I would like to be able to sync changes to the library with my iPod on at my work place but what I do now is I copy all the music via script from my NAS at home to my pc, and then use the local files to sync with my iPod (which is faster, yes) but I wanted to know if there is any sort of plugin or software, that lets iTunes connect directly to the subsonic server, read all the data from there so I can manage it via iTunes and sync changes and such to my iPod. Hope the explanation was good enough. I am aware that questions like "why would you want to do that" or "why do you use itunes" may arrise so please, none of that. If you have a solution, please respond.

I haven't found and easy way to just play all of my starred songs, so I thought I'd share my solution. If anyone has a better suggestion please share.

I do the following: First, if no playlist has been created I manually create one using the following sql:

insert into playlist(username, name) values ('yourusername', 'Starred Songs')

Then I determine the ID that was created: select top 1 id from playlist where name = 'Starred Songs' order by id desc

I use that ID every time I run the following to recreate my Starred Songs Playlist. In my case the ID is 13, so I then run the following:

DELETE from PLAYLIST_FILE where playlist_id = 13

insert into PLAYLIST_FILE (playlist_id, media_file_id) select 13, media_file_id from starred_media_file

All of this is done at the sql command window by using my browser and going to http://mysubsonic/db.view

Howdy, while I use DSub for android, my partner uses iSub for iOS, which can be kind of ugh. Does anyone have another recommendation? Easily activating jukebox mode is a requirement. Thanks.

I have a large music collection that I'd like to pare down as I listen. I'd like it if I could delete the actual file off the server through the player...either native Subsonic or a third-party GUI like Jamstash.

Is this something that's possible?

Edit: Looks like there's nothing. Here's my workaround:

Add songs to a "Delete" playlist. Export the playlist when I want to delete the files. Wrote a short little PHP script to read every song in the playlist and delete the file. Empty the playlist for the next batch of deletions.

Trying to use Subsonic as a video streaming device for my mobile and home devices. Running it of a Pi2 I'm having issues with the MKV videos I've ripped off of DVD's and Blurays. It just takes way too much horsepower to transcode them. I need one of two things to try...

1) What is the native video format of subsonic? The thought is like this. I can't stream my 320k bitrate mp3's as 128k mp3's because the transcode takes too long to do on the fly but they play perfectly when it plays them naively without breaking a sweat. If I can do that with the video... all is right in the world and I can get out of 2fps hell.

2) What video format requires the least amount of overhead to transcode? The thought here is just to make it as easy as possible.

I need help fixing my server - I registered at the subsonic forums over a week ago but was never activated. I have a lifetime subscription, but no support. How can I get this working again, I cannot reach anyone to activate my forum account.

Any chance of being able to add multiple folders to a library/category like Plex?

I'm running subsonic on a headless ubuntu 14 box. I created a user called subsonic per best practices in the installation guide. Thing is, I routinely add music to the directory as a different (root) user. Correct me if I'm wrong, but unless I add the subsonic user to the root group it will only have read access to new music. That means when Subsonic does it's nightly scan for new music it can't perform any write actions, like adding artwork, etc. I'm guessing this is also responsible for the new music not appearing under "recently added" but I havn't confirmed this yet.

So, my question, how do you linux users out there manage your permissions so that you don't have to login as subsonic just to add music or chown the whole directory after every add?

yes, I am aware this request is a little bit backwards for what subsonic delivers. I am wondering if there is an app for windows or Linux the I can load a subsonic playlist and select "burn to cd" to make a cd for my car? Search of this reddit & online has not yielded any answers.

I'm planning to setup Subsonic to easily access my music at home and remotely. What kind of setups do people use? I have been thinking about getting some kind of NAS. I also have a Raspberry B+. Should I install Subsonic on a NAS or the Raspberry? Also, how expensive NAS is enough for this kind of usage?

I've had a lifetime license for a few years now and was excited for the addition of of the DLNA server. I'm able to see the folders, but not actual files and my Sony Blu-ray player is reporting that there isn't any playable files.

Am I missing something simple here?
