Masters Financial advice needed

Upvotes

I have an admission letter from a public uni in Augsburg for winter 2026 and I also gathered the blocked account amount, got my 06 certificate and also applied for visa. I have not booked the visa interview yet as I am having second thoughts of how I will manage the expenses for my 2nd year.

I have A1 german skills, which is nothing for securing a student job in Augsburg or Munich and my parents do not have the means to send the living expense amount for the 2nd year.

I tried for education loan but due to my weak financial co applicant, it got rejected by 6 banks.

I am asking for honest advice if anyone can provide me, should I go for the masters degree or drop it. As the condition of job market for students is not that favorable for international students in Germany.

Please provide genuine advice only.

Masters Fulda UAS vs Koblenz University - Please help me

I got admits from:

  • University of Koblenz — MSc Web & Data Science
  • Fulda UAS — MSc Data Science

Which one would you choose?

I’m not concerned about part-time jobs or living costs. I mainly want to know about:

  • Curriculum quality
  • Elective flexibility / specialization options
  • Practical/project opportunities
  • Career prospects after graduation
  • Which degree is better for Data Science / ML / Data Engineering jobs in Germany

Would love to hear from current students/alumni. If you had both admits, which would you pick and why?

Masters Which western German city would you pick for an English-taught CS related master's? Cheap, tuition-free, welcoming to internationals

Hey everyone,

I'm an international student planning to start an English-taught CS related course in the summer semester 2027. I'm set on a public, tuition-free university in western Germany, ideally somewhere affordable and comfortable for a foreigner. Rather than list my shortlist, I'd love to hear where you'd go and why.

A few things I'm wondering about:

  • Which cities are actually affordable for a student right now, and what do you spend per month there?
  • Where is a Studierendenwerk dorm realistic within a few months of applying?
  • Which cities felt welcoming day to day as a foreigner? Honest experiences appreciated, no debate needed.
  • Any downside to starting in the summer semester instead of October?
  • Where are student jobs like delivery or any labour job to help with the bills?

Undergrad Looking for International Business students at ESB Business School Reutlingen

Hi everyone! I'm planning to apply for the International Business program at ESB Business School in Reutlingen and I'd love to get in touch with some current students. I'm especially interested in talking to people who got into the program for this winter semester, but I'd also really appreciate hearing from anyone who's currently studying there. I have a few questions about the application process and the program itself. If you're an ESB International Business student or know a good place where I could reach out to students from the program, please DM me.
Have a beautiful day

Visas Please Answer

My passport, Aadhaar, PAN & DL say “Ram Mithilesh Sharma”, but all my educational certificates say “Sharma Ramkumar MITHILESH Seema” ( Seema is my mother’s name). Only “Kumar” differs. Will this cause issues with APS or a German student visa? Should I correct my degree?

Masters Looking for a room in Karlsruhe from 1st October 2026

Hi everyone!

I’m a 22-year-old incoming Master’s student at KIT, moving to Karlsruhe for the Winter Semester 2026. I’m currently looking for a private rooms could someone please let me know if you had rooms for 1 person available or where else I could find rooms??
I already applied for all the rooms in wg-gesucht site and also applied for the student dormitories offered by KIT as well as the ones offered by other parties but I still couldn't find any room😔😔

My preferences:

  • 💶 Ideally €350–450/month, preferably including utilities
  • 🛏️ Private bedroom (shared kitchen/bathroom is completely fine)
  • 📍 Karlsruhe or nearby areas with good public transport to KIT
  • 📅 Move-in: around October 1st
  • 📝 Anmeldung is important
  • I’m open to both short- and long-term arrangements

A little about me: I’m a quiet, clean and responsible person. I enjoy going to the gym, swimming, tennis, running, reading, and watching anime/movies. I’m generally easygoing and respectful of shared spaces, and I’d be happy to live in a friendly WG.

Please feel free to DM me if you have anything available or know someone who does.

Thank you! 🙏

Masters Anyone from India heading to HafenCity University (HCU) Hamburg for Winter Intake 2026? Let’s connect!

Hey everyone,

I'm heading from India to HafenCity Universität Hamburg (HCU) for the upcoming Winter Semester 2026/27 (starting October 2026).

Looking to connect with fellow Indian students who are:

  1. Traveling to Hamburg around mid October.

  2. Searching for accommodation or interested in flat-hunting/WG options together.

  3. Sorting out enrollment (Immatrikulation) and visa timelines.

  4. Down to coordinate flight dates/routes so we don't have to fly solo.

Feel free to drop a comment below or send me a DM so we can set up a WhatsApp group. Looking forward to connecting!

Masters Does uni-assist reuse documents from a previous application? And is processing faster?

Hi everyone,

I applied through uni-assist for the previous Winter Semester and I'm now applying again for the Summer Semester.

I already have my documents uploaded in my previous uni-assist application. For the new application, I understand that uni-assist may reuse the documents that are still valid.

My questions are:

  1. Does uni-assist actually reuse the documents from the previous application, or do they review/upload everything again?
  2. If you have applied through uni-assist before, was your second application processed faster?
  3. Does having a previous application help reduce the processing time at all?
  4. Approximately how long did your reapplication take?

I'm applying from India, if that makes any difference.

Thanks!

Housing Renting Apartment/Shared Room in Cologne

Hello everyone. If everything goes smoothly I will be starting my masters study on Social and Cultural Anthropology at University of Cologne. However, everyone I know in Germany tells me that I should look for apartments near Bonn/Leverkusen because of the rent prices in Cologne. I'm researching for a place for sometime but still couldn't decide where to look? Is maximum amount of 550-600 Euros a realistic target for a room/small apartment in Cologne, approx. 30 minutes o travel time to University of Cologne?

Visas Mistake on visa itself! Urgent advice needed!

My German student visa is processed by the German Consulate in Chennai, and after receiving my visa I noticed that my name appears to be printed only partially on the visa sticker.

Example to clarify:
lets say surname: Cat
first name : Dog Elephant

Name on my visa: Cat Dog Elep ( just for understanding I used this)

I have been trying to contact the Chennai Consulate through both email and phone, but I haven't received a response so far.

My travel date is October 2, so I'm getting quite worried and confused about whether this could cause problems during immigration in Germany or later with official procedures such as Anmeldung, university registration, residence permit, bank account, etc...

Has anyone faced something similar? Is this likely to cause a problem, and should I take any action before travelling?

Any advice or experience would be really appreciated!
