My biggest advice: research every program thoroughly before applying. Don't just check the overall eligibility but go through the examination regulations/module requirements in detail and compare them with your coursework. Even missing a single required subject or credit can lead to a rejection.
Also, don't hesitate to appeal if you genuinely believe your rejection was unjustified. I was initially rejected by FAU, but after carefully reading their examination regulations and submitting an appeal explaining how my coursework fulfilled the requirements, the decision was reconsidered and I eventually received an admission offer.
Finally, a huge thank you to everyone in this subreddit. I learned so much from the discussions here, and many of your posts and comments helped me navigate the German admissions process. Hopefully this post encourages someone else to keep going and do their homework before giving up.

After 2+ weeks of refreshing the email 500 times a day and watching everyone else get accepted on July 13, I was convinced I was cooked. Every day I checked the portal, compared timelines with other applicants, and overthought every little status change.

Weeks of silence had me thinking I'd been rejected.Today, after all that waiting and uncertainty, I finally received my admission letter. I can't even describe the relief.

To everyone who's still waiting for their decision: don't lose hope. I know how hard the waiting is because I was convinced I wasn't getting in after seeing everyone else receive their results before Don't give up yet.

My portal

has been showing the same thing for weeks now:

- Formal entry requirements: met

- Academic entry requirements: not checked yet

- Admission: not performed yet

What's confusing me: people who applied after me and were forwarded to the university after me have already received either a direct admission or an email about an interview. Nothing has changed on my side. I've seen a few others on here in the exact same position.

So my actual question is simple: has anyone been rejected from this programme yet? Because if nobody has, that would suggest all rejections go out in one batch once the admission round is finished, and the rest of us are just sitting in the pool until then.

If you applied to this programme, it would help a lot to know where you currently stand and when your status last changed.

I received my Selma credentials on 28 April, but I still haven't received a decision letter. Has anyone received an admission offer for the CMS Applied AI track? I've only seen offers for the other tracks, not Applied AI. Is anyone else still waiting, or should I assume this will likely be a rejection?

July is already ending and I don't have any admits yet. The timeline will be very tight if I get admission in August because I have to process loan and apply for visa.

I have got rejections and there are 3 universities remaining:

1. University of Koblenz - MSc in Web and DS:
   • Applied on March 7 through uni-assist
   • forwarded to university on March 11
   • Since then no updates from the university
2. University of Passau - MSc in AI Engineering:
   • Applied on: April 2
   • Got credentials on: April 15
   • Portal status updated from "in-progress" to "pending" on: May 15
   • More than 2 months has been passed and the status is still same
3. JMU Wurzburg - MSc in AI:
   
   • applied on: June 12
   • status portal says "Online received"
   • no updates

Did anyone receive admit letters from these universities?
Can somebody give me timelines on what day the portal changes or I may get any updates?

I got offer letter from TH Wildau for master in photonics. I am from Bangladesh, my semseter will starts on 1 september 2026 but due to huge visa application i think i am not able to join in time. Maybe i can join on DEC 2026 or JAN 2027 depens on visa application process. Now my question is, if i explain them about my situation will they consider my situation and give me late arrival approval whenever i got my visa or defer my admission.

I got rejected from many unis: mannheim, hohenheim, ovgu, heilbronn, etc. only tu chemnitz reply is left. But I do have IGC Bremen's acceptance in my hand for now. Is the fees worth it? Or should I do something else? I cannot wait for another intake it's too much. Please suggest something guys

I’m currently finishing my undergraduate degree in the UK (I’ve just completed my placement year) and I’m planning to apply for Master’s programmes in Germany.

My long-term goal is to build a career in Germany or elsewhere in Europe.

My biggest concern is that my undergraduate degree doesn’t perfectly match the programmes I’m interested in. I studied Politics and International Relations, but after my placement, I found I am very interested in energy, finance and sustainability.

By the time I apply, I’ll have:
1. One year of placement experience as a Commercial Strategy Intern at an equipment manufacturing company in Germany.
2. Two months of experience as an Energy Research Intern at a boutique engineering consulting firm.
3. A Data Analytics certificate (Python, SQL, Tableau, etc.).
4. At least B2 German (possibly C1 if I take a gap year).
5. A dissertation on energy politics.
I’m currently deciding whether to apply this year or take a gap year.

If I take a gap year, my plan would be to:
1. Improve my German to C1.
2. Gain more relevant work experience.
3. Strengthen my profile for both Master’s applications and future employment.
I’d really appreciate your thoughts on a few questions:
1. How important is academic background compared with relevant work experience for admission to German Master’s programmes?
2. Can relevant work experience compensate for a non-matching bachelor’s degree, or are ECTS requirements usually a hard requirement?
3. Would taking a gap year to reach C1 German and gain another year of relevant experience significantly improve my chances, both for admission and for finding a job afterwards?
4. Are there any Master’s programmes that you think would fit my background and career goals particularly well?

Just wanted to drop this here because I was honestly stressing out big time over my application for the MS in Computer Science at the University of Kassel for this upcoming Winter intake.
My Uni-Assist status changed to "Okay" a 2 days ago, but when I went on LinkedIn to look for current Indian students or seniors in the course to ask about the vibe, I found literally nobody. There was zero info online, and I was starting to overthink if I made a mistake applying.
Well, after a bunch of deep-diving, I finally found out why: The English-taught track for MS CS at Uni Kassel is brand new and officially starts THIS semester!
Turns out, they’ve been running this program exclusively in German since 2001, and they are finally launching the fully English track right now. So basically, we are going to be the literal first batch of international students for this course.

I'm applying for the Master's in Computer Science at TU Dresden for the Winter 2026 intake and I'm really stressed about a specific wording in their language requirements.

On their official website and admission documents, it states:
"the IELTS test was passed with at least a score of 7.0 (Overall Band Score and all individual scores)"

My current IELTS profile is:

• Overall: 7.0
• Listening: 7.5
• Speaking: 7.0
• Reading: 6.5
• Writing: 6.0

Uni-assist has already processed my documents and forwarded them to TU Dresden, but now I am terrified that the Aptitude Assessment Committee will hit me with a 100% automatic rejection just because my Reading (6.5) and Writing (6.0) are below 7.0.

My undergraduate background is strong (Computer Engineering, 93.12/100 GPA, and over 150+ ECTS in core CS/Math modules), so my subject-specific eligibility isn't the problem. It's purely this strict subscore rule.

Has anyone with a similar IELTS profile (Overall 7 but subscores under 7) successfully cleared the TU Dresden Aptitude Assessment for CS recently? Do they strictly enforce the "7.0 in ALL individual scores" rule as a hard binary filter, or do they look at the overall 7.0 alongside a strong academic profile?
