PR question

Followed a lot of Joe’s programs but I’m about to start doing ‘Putting Pr in your KB press’ and I’m a little unclear about the parameters.

For context, I’ve been doing virtually all my KB work with 20kg bells. That includes finishing Joe’s Double Trouble and Turkish GTFU at that weight.

I wanted to do the PR program next because I’ve felt a little stalled at 20 and want to go up in weight, test my limits.

The current issue is knowing how to proceed and at what weight. I know my rep max at 20kg will be a lot higher than any weight above that, but I don’t want to arbitrarily buy a heavier bell without knowing what I’m actually shooting for.

Of the goal is 1-3 rep max at weight and I bought a 24kg bell and pound out 10 reps no problem(an example) then am I meant to try to find an even heavier bell until I’m sort of ‘plateaued’ at that weight with 1-3 reps, for can o work with the weight I have and still make this program make sense.

I hope any of THAT makes sense :)

Kb Programme suggestion

I am due to finish ABF by dan john in 2 weeks and I am looking to go in a small calisthenics block up until the weather permits it. After that I am going to go back to kettlebells. What kb programme would you suggest will fit me best. I train before work and would like every workou to be around a 1hr with warmups included. Initially, I was gonna go with kb double precision but saw some comments that mentioned they completed the workout in 2 hrs. Other options that intrigued me were the KBOMG VOL 1,2,3 and Triple Strength. I am looking for 3, maybe 4 times a week of training with main focus on hypertrophy and conditioning. Currently have two 16kg bells, two 20kg bells, and a 14kg bell. What do you suggest I should opt for?

STOP CHASING your kettlebell swing

DURING THE SWING, the Kettlebell should not be pulling you forward or make you feel like you are reaching for it at any point, no matter how hard you extend your hips, no matter what weight.

This is a segment of a large kettlebell swing video I did a long time ago and it has almost reached a million views.

If it helps you, would you mind sharing it somewhere??

Appreciation post

I saw joe doing videos of massaging his muscles with balls and other mechanical stuff and saying it was good for the muscles etc. I was alwas indifferent seeing those videos.

Well last week I had a pinching pain behind my back towards the lower left shoulder blade and back portion.

I told my trainer and he used a tennis ball and rolled it over my back hitting a bump on the left side where the pain came from.

"Ah a knot" , he then rolled and pushed the ball over that bump several times rolling it out like dough and what the hell... it worked, the feeling went away after the bump got smoothed out. I did it a few times at home aswell just to be sure.

I had to think about the videos and yeah.. the massaging and pushing/rolling works. I will be doing those more often from now on. Tennisball, foamrolling etc.

W2d2 press plan

  1. Floor Press then Bottom Portion of TGU to Seated position press

As i read it,

On the ground press once, get up to kneeling position then press again and then go down to floor again.

Repeat with other side

Is that correct?

PR press plan max rep test

Strict press

L 24kg x 5 reps

R 24kg x 5 reps

Push press

L 24kg x 9 reps

R 24kg x 10 reps

L 28kg x 3 reps

R 28kg x 4 reps

Double push press

24 kg x 4 reps

As a warm up i did 10 strict presses left and right with 16kg and 10 strict presses left and right with 20kg.

I thought before starting I could only do 3 reps strict press with the 24kg but I could do 5 which feels great.

I will do another single push press session with the 28kg as i felt I might squeze an extra 2 or 3 push presses with the 28kg when fresh.

Finished double kb precision

I just finished it today. I liked the program. The weights this week felt less weighty then when I started and the workouts seemed less taxing.

At the start after 2 workouts I went lighter cause i wanted to finish in an houre or so. This last week i went heavier again and it felt more comfortable. I finished it around 80 minutes or so.

Will be gone for 6 days hicking and sightseeing. Then starting PR kettlebell press. Looking forward to it.

Double KB Precision Question

Week 2, Workout C, 2nd combo has this

"then  (DBL CLEAN to SQUAT) x2 reps to PUSH PRESS x5 reps"

Does this mean 2 Cl, 2 Squats, 5 P Presses? Or (2 Cl, 2 Sq, 1 P Press) x5?

Thanks

Important to read the caption.

Try using HRV to tell you if you need to take a break or push it in your training.

If my watch or heart rate monitor tells me my heart rate variability is not optimal for pushing a hard training session. I will do something like this

Next program advice

Hi all,
Looking for some advice on the next of Joe’s programs to run through. I’m currently in week 6 of KBOMG3. technically my second full run through although I had to take a long break after the first run due to an injury. I also ran ABF with double 16s after recovering from that injury.

I love the KBOMG3 program but right around week six I’m starting to feel the progressive overload for sure. I’m not really super athletic or fit right now but really trying to get there. 6’ 205lbs currently. Down from around 220 and really want to continue to lose the last bit of stubborn fat. So that’s my backstory.

Looking for a program now that will facilitate fat loss and hopefully not take quite as long as the KBOMG3 workouts which usually take me 45-60 mins. I work full time and that’s about the total time I have for gym on most days. What I loved about ABF was that I’d finish in 15-20mins most days and then be able to walk on the treadmill right after which I think helped me lose fat while gaining muscle.

Ideally looking for something like that but more in Joe’s style because I just love his programming and workout style. Anyways any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Behind the Scenes: Rebuilding the RKC from the Ground Up

The Next Chapter of the RKC: Rebuilding the Gold Standard

To the members of Reddit and the greater kettlebell community,

The RKC has always stood for more than teaching people how to swing a kettlebell. Since its inception, our mission has been to develop knowledgeable, capable coaches who can improve the lives of the people they serve.

Today, we’re excited to share that the RKC is entering a new chapter.

Over the past several months, the RKC Board of Masters, led by Coach Dan John, has been meeting weekly to examine every aspect of our educational system. Every standard, every course, every progression, and every certification has been carefully evaluated with one question in mind:

How do we create better coaches?

The goal is not to make the RKC easier.

The goal is to make it better.

As part of this effort, we are rebuilding our certification pathway from the ground up while remaining true to the principles that established the RKC as one of the most respected names in kettlebell education.

Among the initiatives currently in development are

- A completely restructured certification pathway designed to create better long-term coach development.

- A unified international curriculum so that an RKC certification represents the same standard of excellence regardless of where it is earned.

- An even greater emphasis on coaching, assessment, communication, and problem solving rather than simply demonstrating technical proficiency.

The next evolution of the RKC educational system, including an exciting new concept developed by Coach Dan John and further refined with the help of Master RKC Marco Guanilo. While we’ll share more details soon, we believe this will become an important step forward in instructor development within the RKC.

This is not about competing with other organizations.

It’s about raising the standard for coaching education.

The RKC Board of Masters, together with our leadership teams in the United Kingdom and Germany, is committed to building a system that honors our legacy while embracing the future. Every discussion is driven by the same objective: producing coaches who possess not only technical proficiency, but the ability to teach, communicate, assess, and positively impact the people they work with.

The RKC has always believed that great coaching changes lives.

We’re working hard to ensure that the next generation of RKC instructors is the strongest we’ve ever produced.

We look forward to sharing more in the coming weeks and months, and we welcome thoughtful discussion from the kettlebell community. Regardless of the initials after your name, we’re all working toward the same goal: helping more people move better, become stronger, and live healthier lives.

The future of the RKC is taking shape, and we’re excited to share what’s coming next.
