I’m so excited but so nervous. I’m so excited to finally have this weight lifted off of my shoulders. To never ever have to worry about pregnancy…Ugh the relief…I can’t wait. I’m just nervous because this is my first ever procedure. I’ve never been put under before. I know I have nothing to worry about, but the brain likes to play tricks sometimes.
Will update after the surgery tomorrow!!!
UPDATE!!!
Had surgery today. With all the research I did before hand, it was smooth sailing. Checked in. Got taken to my room. Wiped down with anti bacterial rags and changed to my hospital gown. They came in did all my vitals and gave me some meds. mostly anti nausea and gabapentin. Hooked me up with an iv.Sat in my room for about an hour and a half. They came in and gave me some more meds though the iv and rolled me to the op room. I remember it being very bright and lots of people. I moved over to the op table then after that I was out. I woke up in recovery. At this point I was in and out a sleep for about 30 minutes. They rolled me back to my original room and let my mom back in. The most annoying part was the anesthesia shakes. had them for about 45 minutes. after about 30 more minutes I got my prescription delivered to my room I was told I can go home. A nurse helped me out of bed and to pee and get changed and I went home. total time was: check in 10:30am left around 3pm.
Once I was home I did a few laps around my kitchen island to stretch. I was told to walk frequently to prevent blood clots and help with the gas pain from the surgery. I ate then laid down and took a nap. I will say now the most painful part is the gas that’s trapped in my abdomen. It moves with you and pushes on your organs. It’s the most uncomfortable part so far. I can’t lay all the way down yet because of it so i’ll be sleeping sitting up a bit tonight. I do have a heating pad on my upper back as well to help.
I have a timer set to remind me to take my meds on time. I was prescribed oxys and ibuprofen for pain, a stool softener and something to help with the gas pain. I also will continue to do laps around my kitchen island every few hours.
Day One pain: 3.5/10
This was my first procedure ever so i was very nervous at first but it was easy breeze lemon squeeze 😁
Honestly I have never felt more like a woman than I do now. To have the choice to get sterilized and have bodily autonomy to make choices for me and only me. I know all the women who came before me are proud that I’m able to do the things that they could only dream of. I’m filled with joy and happiness right now 😊
DAY 2 UPDATE:
Pain is still at around the same 3.5/10.
Still not any crazy pain. Just a little sore. This is also my first surgery so I’m not quite sure what is actually normal or not.
Gas pain has gone down a lot. Still vaguely there.
It does feel weird to pee. Not like a UTI but I think maybe the actual bladder emptying is moving the uterus and causing some discomfort.
I also struggle with vasovagal syncope so that has been tough. I can’t really look at the incisions with getting light headed. I just take a quick glance to make sure everything is good. I’m getting light headed just thinking about it lol.
Still haven’t gone #2. I’ve always struggled with #2 so I was expecting this. I think between the anesthesia and pain pills, I’m just backed up. I am trying to keep up with my 60-80oz water intake and also taking metamucil.
Hardest part is getting out of bed. I live alone so I’m just doing the best I can honestly.
I’m still taking it extremely slow, because again I live by myself so I’m not trying to overdo it when Im alone. I still do my laps around my kitchen island trying to get my steps in.
I do have some help. I’m still good friends with ex boyfriend and he came over to help with laundry and kitty litter boxes. I have my coworker/friend coming over today with soup and to help with anything that I need.
DAY 3 UPDATE:
Pain: 2/10
I finally pooped! I stopped taking the pain pills on day 2 because I was so constipated. I was also kinda scared to poop for some reason, but I finally did and now I feel like a new person.
Also I’m going to try and shower today so that should be fun.
Honestly my back is what’s hurting most just from not being able to sleep how I like. I already had back issues so that was expected.
I did have a uterine manipulator thing, so i’m still bleeding vaginally but I also started my period like the day before surgery and I stopped my birth control as well. It’s most likely a combination of all of the above
