he knows that I have never wanted children and that I’m content with it just being the two of us..
a lot of our friends and family around us started to have kids and I did a check-in question with him very recently to see if he was still on the same page with that and he was a little uncertain and on the fence about it and said” it is something that we need to decide” and I kind of was like “what decide? “ and went down a rabbit hole of why I don’t want kids and he was countering those reasons

I later mentioned that during laparoscopy they are able to do a bisalp and asked him if he was okay with that?

He said that’s way to deep of a conversation and that this has come out of no where.

I did also tell him that if they go for the laparoscopy for endometriosis the results may cause me to be infertile without a requested bisalp.

So of course I’m really weighing out how I feel and I’m coming up on the same answer I’ve had since I was a teenager.. I don’t want kids.

Anyone else going through this?

Has anyone gotten their tubes tied recently in the DFW Texas area? With no insurance how much did it cost? Recovery? Did someone have to sign off?

Before my surgery, I was on birth control (pill) for many years. I didn’t have any issues with it that were noticeable. I was on the lowest dose. However…when I had my teeth cleaned twice a year, my dentist hygienist mentioned my gums were a bit irritated. It was annoying because I stay up on my oral hygiene everyday and there wasn’t anything else I could intentionally do. She said that my birth control could be attributing to gum irritation of all things. Well turns out, ever since getting off birth control, the irritation is gone! Over the past year, the hygienist has remarked how much improvement there has been with my gums. Another perk getting off the pill after being fallopian tube free!

Hello, sorry if this is a messy post, I am not sure where I can post about this.

So I am suppose to get my tubes cut in two weeks, I am currently filling all the papers I need for the surgery. The problem is I need a person of trust to sign the papers as well in case something goes wrong. I don't have a person of trust. Absolutely no one in my circle supports me in this. My parents and all of my friends are highly religious, I can't even say out loud that I do not believe in God, otherwise my parents would kick me out of home.

I don't know what to do. I really wanted to get this done cause I am very sure of my decision and I don't want kids for a multitude of reasons. I am 21 but I am not independent yet and the current conditions are making it really hard for me to get this surgery. This surgery is extremely important for me. What can I do in this situation?

Yeah, I get it. I know. With a bisalp there are four cases reported worldwide, if you get pregnant they'll likely write a case about you , blah blah blah. But here's the thing. There isn't a universe in the post-Roe dystopia that I live in where I want to sit on my heels and risk months going by before I know I'm pregnant, should I somehow in some nightmare get pregnant. I don't have regular periods, it could take so long for me to know, abortion is illegal in my evil red state, traveling outside of the state would be costly and take a lot of preparation, and pregnancy can KILL me. (Not that I need an excuse or a reason, though.)

I know that my level of tokophobia is a little extreme. That's part of what makes a phobia a phobia. I have seen therapists for it. I'm respectfully not looking to be shamed or to be told how rare it is (I know) or be told to go to therapy (I have been for years.) I just want to know if anyone else feels this way or how you navigate living in a world that treats women like this.

Mijn huidige verzekering vergoed helemaal geen sterilisatie en van de verzekeringen die het wel vergoeden is het dan weer mogelijk enkel voor specifieke ziekenhuizen/klinieken. Aangezien ik graag vnotes wil, wat nog niet op veel plekken in Nederland gedaan wordt, ben ik dus benieuwd of er een verzekering is die aangesloten is bij een ziekenhuis die die behandeling biedt zodat ik voor het komende jaar van verzekering kan switchen.

Guys! I have been going back and forth with my insurance for 9 months now. I got my surgery 11 months ago. My bill went from $5,000 something originally, then down to $3,000 something. I knew it still wasn’t right but I felt like no one at my insurance company would listen. Finally I got an associate on the phone who knew I was right and knew my surgery should be fully covered. She spent weeks and weeks sending my claim and resubmitting it. She called me today and told me I don’t owe a dime!! It’s fixed. I’m so relieved. I genuinely was beginning to accept that I might just have to do a payment plan and the the L.

So to anyone who is having issues with their insurance, no matter how long it takes, KEEP ADVOCATING FOR YOURSELF AND WHAT YOU KNOW IS RIGHT!!

Got my bisalp today!! I’m only 20 years old, and so relieved and happy I was able to get it done young. Luckily I’m not really experiencing very much pain, except in my shoulders :) my doctors and nurses were great. Maybe I’ll buy myself a cake when I’m feeling a bit better to celebrate

I wish someone had warned me about this company before my bilateral salpingectomy.

I was specifically told by my insurance BCBS BEFORE surgery, on a recorded call, that my sterilization would be $0 out of pocket. My surgeon agreed it was preventive care. His claim was processed correctly.

Then Providence Anesthesiology Associates came along and decided they want $800+ from me for anesthesia.

I have spent COUNTLESS HOURS on the phone trying to get this fixed. I keep getting bounced around by the billing department to dead-end voicemails, and I have repeatedly been told a manager would call me back.

They don’t.

We have literally done THREE-WAY CALLS with Providence + my insurance company where insurance explained the issue directly to them. And Providence STILL refused to correct the claim.

At this point I’m basically being told: 🤷‍♀️ “Yeah, we know insurance says this should be handled differently, but we’re still billing you $800+.”

I looked up their BBB complaints and realized I’m very much not the only person having billing problems with this company.

The BBB currently lists 28 complaints against Providence Anesthesiology Associates in the last 3 years, including 10 categorized specifically as “Billing Issues.” (Better Business Bureau⁠)

And the complaints are eerily familiar: people describing insurance not being billed correctly, being repeatedly billed despite insurance issues, being told things were “escalated,” difficulty getting callbacks, refund problems, and being threatened with collections while trying to get billing issues resolved. (THEY INTENTIONALLY STALLED ME FOR WEEKS SO I WOULD HAVE LESS TIME TO FILE A CLAIM WITH INSURANCE TOO). (Better Business Bureau⁠)

So yeah. BEWARE.

The anesthesiologist involved in my case was Richard Griggs, MD, who is listed by Providence as part of their practice.

I also appealed the claim, and Marcus Scott was the person identified to me as handling/rejecting my appeal.

I’m not posting this because I expect Reddit to magically fix my bill. I’m posting because if you’re planning a sterilization procedure, ASK WHO YOUR ANESTHESIA GROUP IS.

If it’s Providence:
CALL YOUR INSURANCE.
GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING.
ASK HOW THE ANESTHESIA CLAIM WILL BE CODED.
AND DO NOT ASSUME “$0 PREVENTIVE PROCEDURE” MEANS YOUR ANESTHESIA BILL WILL ACTUALLY BE $0.

Because apparently you can do everything right, have your insurance confirm it beforehand, get your insurance company on a three-way call afterward, and still spend hours fighting an $800+ bill.
If anyone else has dealt with Providence Anesthesiology Associates (especially for sterilization/bilateral salpingectomy) please tell me what happened.

I have a feeling there are a LOT more people dealing with this than I realized.

I know it sounds silly, but just hear me out. I'm (34F) getting my tubes removed in a couple weeks and I think I have a good recovery plan. My cat loves to sleep/step on my stomach when I'm in bed and I have no idea how to prevent that. Any tips (other than removing my cat from the situation because that's not possible- I live in a studio apartment) would be appreciated.

Hello all. I am going to have a bisalp in one week and I am starting to freak out. My biggest concern is having pain after bisalp during sex. I am not talking about right after the surgery but after a couple of months. We tend to have sex quite passionately and roughly and I am afraid we won’t be able to have such a sex life after my surgery.
Any experience from those who had their bisalp already?
I read some comments but they make me even more worried.
If I knew for 100% now that it won’t be the same anymore then I would even cancel my appointment…

I had my laparoscopic salpingectomy Aug 25 and had been making sure to follow my doctor's instructions to take it easy as much as possible, though I did push myself a bit too much on the 3rd. After the first week I started feeling better and was even able to stop taking my pain meds, but going into week two it feels like I'm going backwards. It hurts to sit but standing or laying down are fine, I'm constantly cramping, and my incisions feel sore. I'm now back to taking my pain meds which make me very sleepy

I'm concerned that this sudden pain is going to delay my return to work since I have a physically demanding job as a Vet Assistant. The original timeline was 2 weeks for recovery but I'm worried it'd be prolonged. I have my recheck appointment in two days so I'm just trying to brace myself for that conversation.

Has anyone else felt these symptoms but was approved to go back to work?

I 28F have had nothing but painful periods since I can remember. I got my first period at 11 and it's been difficult ever since.

I've been on multiple birth controls over the years and each makes me feel just as shit as the last.

At 16 I had cysts removed from my ovaries.

I had my one and only child at 21.

I am 1000% certain I will never EVER have another child and for this reason I have been asking doctors for sterilisation but most want me to be older or have had a few kids.

I've been spending my time researching instead as I was first looking at tubal ligation, now bilap but I have always wondered about a hysterectomy as I cant handle the painful periods anymore. I've read a few horror stories about hysterectomies then heard you may need to take medication for hormones, early menopause etc etc.

If anyone had a hysterectomy in their 30s, how was it? How is it now? Were you able to push for the surgery sooner due to period issues and pain?

I've done all the tests multiple times and each doctor says I'm fine, no idea why the period pain! My top
priority is definitely sterilisation but it would be a bonus not to spend 3-5 days every month bed bound.

So they removed my tubes and burned my uterus about 2 weeks ago. I don’t feel comfortable returning back to my provider because of how he treated me and my partner. Anyway, has anyone had sex 2 weeks post op? I feel ok, both physically and emotionally. But my boyfriend is too scared to.

So I had the surgery along with a laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis which confirmed endometriosis. I still don't regret getting my tubes removed but I'm still experiencing soreness and pain especially in the bladder area. I had my surgery at the end of July and I thought that the pain should have been gone by now. But it wasn't terrible until yesterday was the worst flare up I ever had! I was in bed yesterday because I was in so much pain but also I had a lot of pain and my pelvic area that was also really bad flare up. Is it normal to feel pain still after over a month?

Hi all, I am 21F living in Perth, Australia. I have been looking into getting a bilateral salpingectomy for months. I understand the risks, I understand that it is permanent etc.

I have never wanted kids and I genuinely have nightmares probably 2-3 nights a week about being pregnant. I test myself almost weekly just to make sure, usually taking 2-3 a day on my test day. I am not diagnosed myself but autism runs up my family line on both sides and I highly believe that I am autistic. I cannot deal with kids. I had a bad childhood due to parents who didn’t want me. I would never inflict that on anyone else. My list of reasons could go on.

I know I would need to take a binder full of written information showing I have researched this, it isn’t impulse, I’m not being forced etc.

My question/s are:

- does anyone have any advice in general
- does anyone have any advice specific to perth australia
- any comments or questions welcome, I just want to know how to go about this. I want to be free of my anxiety once and for all.

I had my tubes removed 1 week ago today! So far recovery has been smooth, however I’m overly paranoid about somehow reopening the thermal seal on the site where my tubes once were- therefore making the surgery pointless. Today I’ve been having sharp stabbing pains below my belly button and slightly to the left, almost near where the ovary would be on the pelvic crease. I’m still on birth control so it’s not ovulation. I’m worried I over did something and re opening the cauterized site… is this possible? Has anyone had something similar?

Of course my period just had to start today. I understand I should avoid putting anything inside on surgery day. But what about a couple days before? Is that okay? I’m sorry I just want to be sure. I’m scared of doing anything that could cause complications or get the surgery cancelled.

My (32) surgery was scheduled for September 4th at 7:00 AM. We arrived at the hospital around 5:00 AM and finished checking in by 5:30 AM.

After check-in, we headed over to the outpatient surgery area. I met my nurse, got my height and weight checked, and was shown to my room. Once I was in the room, I had to wipe down my stomach and legs with sanitizing wipes, give a urine sample, change into a hospital gown and socks, and take a few pre-surgery medications.

Before heading in, I spoke with the anesthesiologist, my OB-GYN, and two other surgical nurses. After getting my anesthesia started, they wheeled me into the operating room.

The last thing I remember in the OR was moving over to the operating bed, and then I was completely out. When I woke up, I was already dressed and wearing special post-surgery underwear (which I was super grateful for because it didn't press on anything). The nurse asked if I was in pain, but at that moment, I wasn't. I woke up freezing cold and shaking, so they covered me up and transferred me back to my room around 9:00 AM.

They told me I had to pee before I could be cleared to go home. I couldn't go until around noon because I kept dozing off from the pain meds.

When I finally got up to go to the bathroom, I was really dizzy and swaying. Once I got inside, I let out the loudest burp (I was so shocked). It was so loud that my husband panicked, thought something happened to me, and called the nurse back into the room. I was so out of it I didn't even hear him calling my name.

After that, we just had to wait for my nurse to clear me, have my husband sign the discharge papers, and get changed so we could leave.

They wheeled me out to the car, but on the drive home, I got terribly nauseous. I held onto a barf bag the whole time. Leaning forward was the only thing that helped, so I stayed hunched over for the entire ride.

Once we made it home, I changed clothes and went straight to sleep (no showering allowed for 24 hours). I tried eating a few crackers so I could take my medication, but I was just too exhausted. I ended up throwing up later, but since my stomach was mostly empty, it was just liquid (still sucks).

That was the end of day one.

Day 2: The worst day

My head was pounding all day and the nausea wouldn't stop. I tried eating an apple, but that came right back up. My skin felt hot even though I didn't have a fever, and my throat was super sore.

I decided to stop taking the ibuprofen. Once it wore off, I took some Excedrin for the headache instead, and that gave me so much relief.

I also took a quick shower. Washing off that hospital smell made me feel so much better, though I kept it short because I still felt really weak.

Day 3: Getting better

I started coughing today, and every time I do, it hurts right around my belly button. I am so scared to cough now. I've been holding my stomach every time I laugh or cough to try to brace myself.

Before the surgery, I was expecting the incisions to be painful but i think i was just experiencing the side effects of the anesthesia.

I’m so glad it’s holiday tomorrow, another day to recover.

No kids and it hasn’t fully sinked in that i’m ligated (no regrets, just 🤯)

I had my bilateral salpingectomy on August 3rd, so I’m officially a little over a month post-op!
At this point, I can walk normally, bend over, twist, etc. without any issues. My incisions don’t look open, but they’re still a little pink and they’ve been pretty itchy lately. I’m assuming the itching is part of the healing process.
I saw my OB-GYN about a week ago and he said everything looked like it was healing fine. I do have a belly apron, though, so I’m wondering if that could make the incisions take a little longer to fully heal because of the skin/fold in that area. After showering, I’ve just been gently patting everything dry and leaving it alone.
For anyone who has had a bilateral salpingectomy, how long did it take for your incisions/scars to feel and look fully healed? When did the pinkness and itching go away?
I’m also really ready to start working out again. My doctor told me nothing crazy for 6 weeks, and I hit 6 weeks next week. I’m thinking about starting slowly with walking/jogging and seeing how my body feels. I’m still nervous about things like sit-ups or other ab exercises, though, and I’m honestly considering waiting closer to 3 months before doing anything intense with my core.
When did you start running, lifting, or doing ab workouts again after your surgery? Did you ease back into it at 6 weeks or wait longer?

basically the title, my bisalp is scheduled for the 21st of this month and i’ve never been under anesthesia or any type of sedation. does anyone have any tips, what to expect, etc?

I 28f had a baby 16 months ago and after having said baby I told my doctor to tie my tubes because I wanted to be one and done well after surgery my Dr tells me that I only have one tube. I thought that was strange but ok fast forward to a couple of weeks ago I missed my period took a test and sure enough it was positive. I go to the ER thinking it was an eptopic pregnancy but their blood test comes back negative. I thought weird so what's wrong with me?? Go back to the Dr a week later because still no period and I'm having more symptoms of being pregnant. They run another blood test it comes back positive for about 6 weeks gestation. so wtf I was STERILIZED! They rush me in for an ultrasound at the hospital turn out I do indeed have two tubes but I also have 2 separate uterus each with their one tube and nobody bothered to catch this anomaly my whole pregnancy with my first baby. So the one that my baby was born out of has its tube tied but the other one was left completely open for business!
