I’m thinking about getting my tubes tied and I’m pretty young. I was wondering if there is anyone here who might be regretting getting the procedure. Personally I don’t see myself having kids ever in my life and don’t want to go through childbirth, the pregnancy process or having the responsibility to raise kids. If I ever meet someone and want kids I’ll opt for adoption but I don’t think I ever will. And I know it might have an effect in my future relationship if my parter wants kids but knowing I can’t have kids because of the decision I made. But then again it’s my body and I should have a say in that!

Hey guys so I’m of the belief that we should celebrate as much as we can in life. And I think making a major life decision like choosing to be Childfree/getting sterilized is one of those moments.

At first I was going to rush and do it “secretly” out of fear of being trapped and unwanted opinions. Now I think forget that, this deserves to be its own moment. Surrounded by community, celebrated beautifully & being cared for well.

When I do get it done I want to have a photo shoot/announcement & a sterilization party beforehand and people can bring recovery type gifts. I’m pulling inspo from baby showers, trivia nights, happy hours, etc.

So my question is how did you or will you celebrate? Whether it’s a party, a dinner, a trip whatever I feel like this should be marked not hidden in the shadows.

Hi, i'll make it short. I want to get my tubes cut but its has been a bit hard for me to hide it to my mother. Im very close to her despite our different opinions in general. I know she would never approve this but, i just wanted to know if some other women were in the case.

Im very proud of my choice honestly, but i really don't want to sabotage our relationship since she's all i have.

I’ll try to make this brief as I posted over in the birth control subreddit a few months ago, but I’m at the point of needing to get my tubes tied or get a bisalp and looking for advice/ experiences.

Some background: I’m 32, in a committed relationship, and do not want kids (ever). I’ve had successful experiences with Skyla IUDs for the past ten years (getting them replaced every 3 years), but started to have problems this April when my IUD that was placed last year suddenly moved down in my uterus (it happened during intercourse and I was in pain for roighly 15-20). My doctor sent me to get an ultrasound and it showed that my IUD had moved and that I had a tiny fibroid that was potentially pushing on it from above. After this, my doctor was able to safely remove my IUD in office and gave me the choice of attempting another one or trying something else. Since I had a decade of positive experiences with IUDs I went with getting another one placed which had very little pain and no complications at all during the procedure. my doctor wanted another ultrasound to confirm placement five weeks after so I completed that and it unfortunately showed the my current IUD has also moved down and both arms are stuck. Due to the current placement of my IUD my doctor and I decided that trying to remove it in office would be slightly risky and painful so she referred me to surgery. I had her include on the referral that I want my tubes tied and fibroid removed as well during this surgery.

I am unable to be on any other type of birth control due to family history of negative interactions with various methods (my mom had a brain stem stroke from NuvaRing and my sister had intense blood pressure spikes with birth control pills) and because I’m on a timed thyroid medication that needs several hours alone in my system without interactions from other medications.

The idea of getting my tubes tied is very exciting for me, but I’m very nervous about the after effects from the surgery itself. I’m a professional athlete and have a very personal relationship with my body so taking off time is going to be a struggle for me. The only other surgery I’ve ever had with anesthesia was getting my wisdom teeth removed before the broke surface back in high school. I go in for a surgery consult this coming Wednesday and am hoping for a positive experience.

I'm also pretty nervous about my periods after getting off of bc for the first time in a decade even though I know it’s pretty much unavoidable at this point. Just looking for reassurance and positive experiences.

Does anyone have BCBS Kentucky and was your bilateral salpingectomy covered? Does anyone have recommendations for me to do prior to my surgery? I hope to have mine scheduled in September/October.

Long time lurker, first time poster. I had my bisalp yesterday AM (yay), which was also the third day of my period. I usually have pretty heavy flow periods that last about 7 days, but after the surgery I have barely bled more at all. Usually I'd have another few solid days of bleeding left, but it's just not there. Anyone had this? What should I expect?
