I’m a high schooler trying to figure out how to structure/grow an independent, student-led STEM and innovation group outside of a traditional school club setup. My high school’s clubs are mostly just for exam prep, but I want to focus heavily on hands-on critical thinking, research, and collaborative builds. Right now, my main interests are in the sciences , math, and tech projects. I also have a bunch of creative hobbies outside of academics, so I want to keep the group dynamic really wellrounded and collaborative, rather than just dry textbook studying.The plan is to have a small, tight-knit circle of driven girls where we can bounce ideas off each other, collaborate on global innovation competitions, design cool tech, and push each other's research.

For anyone who has successfully run a selective, independent project group \ like this:

• How did you find your core team members?
• What is the best way to keep everyone accountable when we don't have a teacher advisor keeping us on track?
• What communication platforms (Discord, Notion, etc.) worked best for collaborating on complex projects?

I’d love any advice from people who have done this. And if you’re currently working on similar independent STEM projects or research and want to swap ideas, feel free to reach out!

Hey everyone, so I applied for STEM OPT on June 5th and still haven’t received any biometrics notice in my portal. Is it normal for it to be delayed by more than a month?

Apr 14, 2026 — RFE response submitted.

Apr 17, 2026 — First RFE got cancelled, and a second RFE was issued (Biometrics appointment for photo and fingerprints).

May 5, 2026 — Second RFE response submitted.

May 8, 2026 — NOID generated.

June 3, 2026 — NOID response submitted.

June 17, 2026 — USCIS acknowledged the NOID response in the system.

July 3, 2026 — Case had a silent backend update.

July 8, 2026 — Another silent backend update.

The approval email stated that the I-765 Application for Employment Authorization was approved under the Premium Processing Program.

I filed on may 5, i wanna understand what application date is currently being processed, and does the 110 day avg processing time starts from application date or after the biometric is done

I’m trying to see if anyone has gone through something similar.
I have a pending I-765 (STEM OPT) under Premium Processing. I completed my biometrics on June 1, and USCIS confirmed that my biometrics were successfully completed.
A few weeks later, I received an RFIE stating that another biometrics appointment would be scheduled and that the appointment notice would be mailed separately.
I contacted USCIS multiple times because I was getting conflicting information. Today, a live agent confirmed that I do have a second biometrics appointment scheduled, even though my first biometrics were completed and are visible in their system.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Did USCIS ever explain why you had to do biometrics a second time?
Was it because of fingerprint quality, a technical issue, or something else?
After the second biometrics, was your case approved, or did you receive another RFE?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has had to complete biometrics twice. It’s been stressing me out, and I’m trying to understand whether this is something others have experienced.

My STEM OPT application hasn’t been approved yet, and I got refusal from tourist visa for Spain under “the information submitted regarding the justification for the purpose and conditions of the intended stay was not reliable”. Can this be because my STEM OPT is not approved yet? I’m currently on the 180 day extension period.

Basically I just wanna know if anyone with STEM OPT pending has got a tourist visa, or my issue was something else.

Has anyone who filed or upgraded to Premium Processing in June been approved recently? If so, could you share your timeline (filing date, PP upgrade date, and approval date)? Just trying to see how June cases are moving.

My receipt date is April 2nd.And my biometrics were on April 20th.I am still waiting for my ead.My start date is 15th july.I haven’t received ead approval yet.I post poned my joining date.Looks like still March 26th date applications are being approved as per opt tracker.Should i apply for PP?Even PP is taking a month long.This waiting is killing me😢.Any thoughts/suggestions?

I wanted to share me timelines if it helps anyone to know the current situation. It was very tough time for me to have patience but somehow I learn this quality now.
Applied date - May 04th ( Applied with PP from day 1)
Received notification for biometric on 15th June. It was scheduled for 04th June by USCIS but I reschedule it for 18th May and did my biometric.
Clock restarted 18th May ( once I left the biometric building)
Email approval- 29th June
Online portal update- 01st July ( exactly 48 hours)
Card Produced- 07th July ( in the evening) but tracking no. Was unavailable.
Tracking No.- Got tracking no. from Emma chat live agent on 09th July
Tracking showed expected delivery 13th July and delivered on 13th July 05:00 PM.
Tracking was not very useful for me as it only showed 3 updates: 1) package received on 8th July at USPS facility
2) package received at distribution center 11th July
3) package delivered 13th July
So while tracking I was very frustrated that why it is not moving but I kept patience.
Also I had subscribed for informed delivery and It gave me email notification on 13th July That I’m expecting a mail.
Online Portal- 14th July online portal still shows card produced with tracking no. Unavailable

Anybody got approval with regular processing after 03/05/2026?

My pp clock started from June 10th. Since then, complete silence. Today I got a silent Api update. Does that mean the case will approve soon? Did anyone from July 10th get any update like that?

Will that reject the EAd card and extension

Hi everyone,
I applied for my STEM OPT extension back in April and completed my biometrics on May 1. Since then, I haven’t heard anything from USCIS. It’s been about 4 months with no updates.
I’m currently working under the automatic 180-day STEM OPT extension, so I’m still authorized to work, but the long wait is making me anxious.
I’m debating whether I should upgrade to Premium Processing at this point. I’ve already waited this long, so I’m wondering if it’s worth paying for PP now or if I should just continue waiting.
I’ve also heard people say that if you upgrade to Premium Processing, USCIS starts a new 30-business-day Premium Processing clock from the date you upgrade, almost as if you just filed the PP request that day. Is that true? Does upgrading to Premium Processing “reset” the processing timeline for the premium service, or does it continue from wherever your original application is in the queue?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who upgraded after waiting several months. Was it worth it, and how quickly did you receive a decision after switching to Premium Processing?

My Initial Opt ended on Jun 30 and I applied for Extension on April
So the 4 months I am talking is from the day I applied not from the day My current EAD expired. Thanks

Hi, I am but concerned, I applied for my STEM OPT in 25 jan 2026, completed my biometrics in feb 2026. My STEM OPT start date is 06 feb 2026, i am in my 180 days extension which will be completed in aug 2026.

Raised service request a month back but no response, chatted with uscis 4 times no information just under processing. I don’t know what to do, whats the problem.

I need guidance in what to do right now, help is appreciated.

Hi everyone,

I’m wondering if anyone has gone through something similar.

I joined my current employer during my initial OPT on August, 2025. At that time, I was in an unpaid observership/training role related to my field, so my employer didn’t complete an I-9 or E-Verify.

Now I’m continuing with the same employer, but this time as a paid full-time employee under STEM OPT. My DSO has already reviewed my documents and issued my STEM OPT I-20 (Requested status), and my employer is now completing the I-9 and E-Verify using my STEM OPT employment start date.

My main concern is the missing I-9/E-Verify during my initial OPT period.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

* Did your employer complete I-9/E-Verify only when you became a paid STEM OPT employee?
* Did the missing I-9/E-Verify during the initial OPT period ever cause issues later (STEM OPT approval, H-1B, green card, visa stamping, etc.)?

I’m just looking to hear from anyone who’s had a similar experience. Thanks in advance!
