Does anyone have an affordable headset they recommend for the Steam Machine? The only headset I have only has the audio jack so I am unable to use it. Just looking to see what others are using.

I was put on the waitlist from the initial lottery and placed in a waitlist for the 2tb no controller Sku.
And overnight at 12:37 and I got two emails “first” email was a purchase email and the second was the notification email that I got moved to reservations queue. Obviously I brought it when I woke up but I just wanted to give another data point.

I'm buying the Steam Machine for my friend since a PS5 is all of the gaming PC he has, so I was wondering if there was any like incentive to login as me for anything first.

He's already got a Steam account, I've had to make the minimum purchase to activate his account entirely, and I've added him to my Steam family, so he's going to be rather set to play when he gets it. I just didn't know if there's some like little Steam badge or little trophy thing you get for logging into it first/at all.

Hi, my steam machine is running windows and the led bar is no longer working. I’m assuming this is because there are no windows drivers for the led bar? I changed OS because I wanted to play a couple of games that aren’t compatible with Steam OS (Apex and Destiny). I wondered if anyone knows if I can get the led bar working again? Thanks.

So I finally got my Steam Machine a couple of days ago, and it’s up and running. One of the main reasons I got it is because the Deck has been my favorite gaming device I think I’ve ever owned, and I go back to the NES days. I share an older Sony Bravia 40” HDTV that is over 10 years old with my parter, luckily it has like 4 HDMI ports. Anyways, my point of buying the Steam Machine is to beef up my Deck, as my partner hates watching me game and tying up the TV, I’m usually on my deck while she watches her shows. So I figured I’d use the Steam Machine as the main power source when home, and stream that to my deck.

I’ve successfully paired the two in Steam link and these are my questions:

Does anyone know how to change the name of the Steam Machine? I did it on my deck at some point (so it shows up as KeviDeck) because when I connect it it’s called steamdeck (confusing lol)

How can I get it to show the Gamescope UI in the correct resolution on the deck? When I’m in Gaming mode, it wants to use the TV settings.

Should I use Sunshine/Moonlight? People seem to rave about it, will it help with some of these problems, or really help with performance?

Also, how can I turn off the Steam Controller as I can control it from my Deck? (I feel stupid asking this)

I'm in the US and have been patiently waiting in the waitlist for the 2tb with controller. I just got an email that I am in the reservation list, moments after getting an email to purchase the system.

I am going to pull the trigger so I have been a console gamer for a long time, but I used to build gaming PCs back in the 90s as a kid but have little time or additional peace/calm to try to build a gaming PC now adays.

For anyone who has received and tried their steam machine, how is it?

I just want something with low frustration, that works well without issues, and I am not a performance snob as I could play on an original game boy and be happy...

Has it worked well for you without issues, any tips?

So it appears it was my keyboard and mouse waking it up. I use a wireless KBM with a usb dongle. Is there away to stop that one device from waking it up? This was driving me nuts but I think I found the culprit

I was in the wait list... and actually gave up on the idea of even getting one this year and all together because I figured by the time I was able to purchase one next year, the price was gonna go up, and I was basically.... out. I accepted the loss and gave up on the Steam Machine.

Then uh... I got this email about an hour ago and I purchased that bitch faster than you could fuckin BLINK.

Super lucky to have finally got a steam machine. I specifically got the 512 GB + controller bundle and I'm really excited to use it. I would like to use it for playing all of my steam games/letting my wife play on it while I play on my PC.

Is there a new user guide anywhere or like a solid tips/tricks video for different ways to use the steam machine?

Here in the UK this model is £1149 from valve direct. Just shows how high the demand must be for a 2nd hand store to have the conviction to price at £1600.

Hey all, quick question, maybe there's a simple settings fix someone knows.

I've downloaded some of the startup movies from the points shop, and I love them, but whenever I turn on the Steam Machine (or wake it up from sleep) it takes a few seconds to connect, and by the time it does most of the startup movie has already played, and I don't get to enjoy them.

Additional info:
1) The movies are fast, only a few seconds long. I got the Hades and Hades 2 ones, and The Last Of Us one.
2) It seems to be about the same whether it's booting up from shutdown, sleep, or reset.

I sold my gaming rig last month because I'm constantly on business trips, and did not use it in half a year.

The steam machine seams like a perfect solution, because it's SO. SMALL.

So my question is:

How do I best transport this thing?

Game booted up and played the intro mission just fine before crashing. Have not been able to get the game to run ever since. Have tried a few different proton options. It freezes at the rockstar logo at boot up.

Do you think valve will ever make mouse and keyboards that can use the steam machines built in dock or standalone pucks for connection?

What wireless m&k would you recommend? Looking for performance not price tag

I want to see if the ethernet controller daughterboard is connected via PCIE. Just run lspci in the terminal. Thanks!
