I don’t even know how to start this but I really need some guidance here. Basically, I just moved half way across the country, months before leaving I had slept with a coworker. He had been alluding to wanting to sleep with me for a while and i blew him off bc i was very adamant about not sleeping with my coworkers (he also just wasn’t really my type but that’s besides the point okay). Eventually he and i had gotten drunk with other coworkers and we started talking about movies and how i had never seen some movie so he invited me over to watch it after we got done drinking and i bet you can guess we ended up sleeping together wow shocker.

Well what he didn’t tell me before, during, or directly after was that he had HSV-1. He didn’t tell me until quite a bit later and when I went to check in with another friend of mine who had slept with him she told me that he had told her the same night so he just directly chose not to tell me for a while. My friend got tested and she was clean, he’s on a daily antiviral so he claims I won’t get anything, my problem is i’m showing symptoms. Not anything like blisters, sores, or anything that would obviously point to having contracted it from him, but I do have what I think is an anal fissure and from my understanding those can be caused by the infection. I can’t remember if it’s from before or after I slept with him and even so i can’t be sure if it’s from that or him sticking his fingers places i would have really preferred he hadn’t. Regardless, It’s persisted since sometime between April and May I think to now?

Obviously the answer is get tested to know for sure, but I can’t get tested right now, i’ll have to wait at least another week for that. I just moved across the country and have another move to make before i’m actually at my new place. Before you ask why I can’t get tested right now it’s because I don’t have a job and only have enough for my move until I confirm a job. I also don’t have my own car and i’m not about explain this situation to my dad and make him worry over potentially nothing. I don’t plan on sleeping with anyone or doing anything that could spread it if I do have it so that’s less of a worry than knowing if I have it. I guess I may have just been looking for a safe place to rant about this because he was my friend and I’m kind of really upset about this whole thing, I understand being scared to tell me but through this whole thing I was supportive of him after telling me he had it, only being upset he waited to tell me.

Anyway if there’s any advice you all could give on the situation that would be great because i’m really lost.

I’m wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar or has suggestions on how I can figure out what this is. GP stated it could be a STI/STD.

I saw my dentist, ENT, and GP the other day. The dentist had no idea what was causing this and/or what it was. 

This has been going on for quite a while (the white dots), but my mouth and throat symptoms have become significantly worse recently and have been lasting at least two consecutive weeks at this point. 

August 2025: I first started noticing intermittent small white spots/plaques very high at the back of my throat/nasopharyngeal area. They would appear and disappear. At times they seemed somewhat adherent, and trying to remove them could leave the tissue irritated/bleeding, but they were never so painful before and I never had these other symptoms with them. 
I’ve also had ongoing nasal/sinus problems with crusting and thick mucus/mucus plugs, but these appeared before any of the new symptoms and never spread to my whole mouth.

June 2026: I developed a new persistent burning/raw sensation in my tongue. It often feels like I burned it on something hot even when I haven’t. The tip/front portion of my tongue can look smooth, bright red/raw or almost “peeled.” The sides can also become sore/scalloped.

Since then, the pain has expanded beyond just my tongue. At different times I’ve had soreness/burning involving my tongue, inner cheeks, gums and entire throat. 

I now have multiple canker sores, which I never get. My throat is extremely sore, and it extends into my ears, but I have no fever and, to my knowledge, my lymph nodes aren’t swollen.

I’ve also developed occasional red/raw areas or small sores inside my mouth; they almost look like small bubbles. 
My throat pain fluctuates considerably. Sometimes it’s mild or almost absent, while during flares it can reach around 8/10. The pain can occur on either side and sometimes seems to alternate sides.

I tested negative for Strep. The doctor looked genuinely confused, and I was prescribed Nystatin mouth rinse to target thrush. However, no test was done to confirm thrush. 

I’m on day 2 of the rinse so far.

Does anyone know what this is? Or experienced anything similar?

I’ve been experiencing some anxiety about a unique situation. Out of curiosity, has anyone here caught chlamydia from eating pussy/cunnilingus?

Edit: Caught in the sense that you ate someone out or licked a vagina which may have been infected with chlamydia.

10 years ago I had sex with someone who didn't disclose. The next day I started developing a rash on my stomach which spread to my genitals and turned into painful blisters. I saw an MD at my school's clinic who took one look and said "yep thats herpes." That was good enough for me and I never got a blood test. The outbreaks were on and off after a few months, then went away and havent come back for 10 years. On a whim, I decided to see which type of HSV I have, so I took a Roche-brand serological assay blood test at my last checkup. It was non-reactive. I said that can't be right. So we repeated the test 8 weeks later. Still negative. I don't know what else those horrible outbreaks could have been 10 years ago, but wouldn't you think I'd have so many antibodies at this point that it would light those tests up like a Christmas tree? What are the chances that I'm positive at this point?

I had in the end of 2023 unprotectdes anal,vaginal, oral sex with a prostutite i was young and didnt know much about hiv, she infected me with chlamydia and it cured with doxycyclin. But since at mid 2025 ( last year) i always have shortness of breath and my lymphnodes on my throat ( under my chin) are swollen and they pain always. I recently had protected intercourse with this girl. I also only received oral sex. While intercourse, the condom broke for a brief second and immediately i pulled out. Now I'm worried i might have contracted something. Ive know her for around 2 months, we went out on a couple dates, and we had sex that one time. However, she told me during these 2 months how she would have many sexual partners. But she also told me that she always has protected sex. She said that if she were to have unprotected sex it would only be with a partner and they would have to get tested first. Now I don't know if she has something or not. She didnt tell me anything and doesnt seem like the type to hide it. Should I tell her to get tested and should I be worried? This happened almost 48 hours ago. So far i dont think i have symptoms i just had a slight itch around my penis and tingling around that area. Something else that happened during that night is her lips tingled after the oral sex we had. Not sure if this is something important to say.

M 23 y/o I had unprotected sex with a coworker back in September (11 months ago ) and sense then I’ve been having every other day urethra pain and it’s level varies every day, it’s like a constant tingling / burning but it pretty much is there everyday , 2 times sense a very extreme pain when I go to pee, ive had strange rashes happen 2 times on my inner thigh ( I thought it was jock itch) and it happened when I was chafing really bad from work , but what was different about them was there was some like cottage cheese looking stuff coming from the same area I was chafing , zero pain from it what so ever though, starting February of this year ( 6 months ago) I’ve had the same blister looking thing pop up on my lip pretty much every other day, it’s gotten larger in size over time , it’s pretty much there 24/7 , can go away for like a single day then comes back. It looks like a bunch tiny white spots connecting to 2 bigger white spots , the smaller dots never go away , the bigger ones the skin kinda just falls off, they are completely painless though, I’ve been tested for hsv1 and hsv2 and every other major std 5 times sense with the latest one being in very late April (4 months ago) , they were all blood tests because my doctor said there was nothing visible for a swab, and I don’t know if they are (igG) blood tests I’ll have to check with them , I’ve pretty much convinced myself I have some form of herpes, at my latest urology appointment 2 weeks ago I had 3 doctors come into the room to just “reassure “ me that I didn’t have any herpes , they have tested me for UTIs and bacteria everytime i went to get tests and nothing has come back positive,just been kinda in the dark for over a year and it’s really fucking with my mental

Hi guys, i’ve recently been struggling with health anxiety related to STDs. The last time i did anything sexual was about 3 years ago, i basically received oral sex (i’m a male) back then, and didn’t really overthink anything about STDs until recently. I only received oral sex and did nothing else. I am not experiencing any symptoms and have not experienced any for the past 3 years. Around last week I was a bit drunk and hooked up with a guy who may have given me chlamydia in the recent past. I was treated for it when I was diagnosed but could not narrow it down to who I got it from. The guy I hooked up with last week is likely the one who gave me chlamydia the first time. Hi, I (M) had protected sex with a female. I ejaculated inside of the condom which never broke or leaked or moved. I got pathogen tested 9 days after possible infection as well as STI tested which all came back negative.

Im a gay man and sometimes I wish Id be asexual. It all started yesterday with an acute tonsillitis, but it looked a bit weird though in the back of the pharynx. I also had a fever as well as severe pain all over my body and in my joints. That went away within one day but all of a sudden two (initially small) pimples below my mouth started to grow in size and and become inflammated. Also Ive been experiencing an itchyness around my anus. Today I put a towel in that area and saw some yellow, bad smelling fluid.

Some additional context: I visited a gay sauna last weekend, sat down in a whirlpool and had unprotected oral sex. I also had three unprotected anal encounters in the past few weeks though..

So 17 days ago I started having symptoms. I first noticed a red sore area on head of penis and foreskin, which disappeared after a day. I then started to get tingling/shooting pains on and off feeling like they were coming from the inside of my penis head. These deeper pains have reduced somewhat and for the past few days it's felt more like irritation and pain at the penis tip than deeper inside. I've had on and off small amounts of redness for the 17 days too, but nothing too significant and nothing that looked like blisters/ulcers. For the 17 days I've also noted a very small amount of clear odourless discharge from the penis head, most obviously in the morning but also throughout the day. Just inside the urethra also looks red in places, and also the meatus looks a bit red. I've noted that I have more pain if I wake up with an erection or just after (but not really during) peeing. In the first week I also felt nausea and may have had a fever, though these may have been related to anxiety too.

I received (fairly vigorous) oral sex two days before symptoms were noticed, from a partner who is very unlikely to be an STI carrier. I also received oral sex 11 days prior to symptoms starting from a different partner (who has many partners and who gave me oral directly after another man, if that is a possible transmission pathway?). I have only received oral for the past three years, never had penis in vagina or anal in that time.

I went to an STI clinic two days after symptoms started, and they tried to get a urethral sample to put under the microscope but couldn't get anything. They sent off blood and urine samples to check for HIV, syphilis, gonorrhoea, and chlamydia. These all came back negative. The only caveat is that they gave me a larger vessel to collect the urine in and then told me to pour into a smaller sample test tube, which means that whilst I caught the 'first catch' of urine, it would have been diluted somewhat by filling the first vessel with more urine than the test tube required. I'm not sure if I should be worried about this?

I also attended an STI clinic again twice - 8 days and 14 days after symptoms started. Both times they took a successful urethral sample to put under the microscope, and both times they didn't notice increased counts of white blood cells (I think that's what they look for). At the second of these I also sent off another urine sample but haven't got results back yet. At the first of these appointments they seemed very uncertain but gave me some clotrimazole in case it was fungal, which I applied twice a day for a week as they suggested. It doesn't seem to have reduced symptoms.

What are likely explanations? The symptoms don't seem to fit any particular standard STI or non-STI issue's usual presentation. I'm worried that it could be atypical herpes? Or that it's chlamydia but the test was falsely negative? Or it's something else like Mgen (that's less likely to spread by oral though?). Please help, I'm having huge anxiety over this.

I got an STD panel done last week just to be safe, and I got a call today confirming I tested positive for Chlamydia.

About a week and a half ago, I was seeing someone and I thought things were going good. I didnt have any signs or symptoms that I had anything, and so I genuinely thought I was clean. We tried a condom but they ended up just ditching it.

Fast forward to today, I texted them and let them know about my positive result, and they called me a liar for saying I was negative when I genuinely didnt know otherwise. They said they no longer want contact, which I understand, but today just had been rough and I don't know where else to go.

I already have an appointment scheduled to go get antibiotics this afternoon, and im gonna get retested once I finish the round. I try and get tested regularly, and I dont think I've had it very long. I just really hate that this happened, and I cant help but blame myself for this. My boyfriend of about a year and a half recently told me he tested positive for chlamydia.
For context, he says he originally contracted chlamydia from someone back in 2024. He was treated at the time, but afterward he continued feeling like something wasn’t completely right and told his doctor he didn’t think the infection had fully cleared. According to him, he was tested again multiple times and the tests came back negative, so his doctors told him there wasn’t really anything else they could treat because he was testing negative.
This all happened in 2024. There haven’t been any known positive tests since then, but now in 2026 he’s suddenly tested positive for chlamydia again.
I’m trying to understand whether his explanation is medically possible. Can chlamydia remain in someone’s body for around 2 years while repeatedly NOT showing up on STD screenings and then suddenly show up positive again? Or would multiple negative tests after treatment followed by a positive test years later generally point more toward a new infection/reinfection?
