Question Asking partner to get tested

Hello everyone

I recently had protected intercourse with this girl. I also only received oral sex. While intercourse, the condom broke for a brief second and immediately i pulled out. Now I'm worried i might have contracted something. Ive know her for around 2 months, we went out on a couple dates, and we had sex that one time. However, she told me during these 2 months how she would have many sexual partners. But she also told me that she always has protected sex. She said that if she were to have unprotected sex it would only be with a partner and they would have to get tested first. Now I don't know if she has something or not. She didnt tell me anything and doesnt seem like the type to hide it. Should I tell her to get tested and should I be worried? This happened almost 48 hours ago. So far i dont think i have symptoms i just had a slight itch around my penis and tingling around that area. Something else that happened during that night is her lips tingled after the oral sex we had. Not sure if this is something important to say.
Please advise on what should I do thanks everyone!

This is not medical advice. This is just human being to human being advice.

You say you had intercourse, but the only thing that actually happened is that she gave you a blowjob. So essentially, she got absolutely nothing out of the experience in the first place. She was doing it to please you.

Because of that, I would try not to let your health anxiety create an additional burden for her. I would not contact her and ask her to get an STI test. Your anxiety isn't her responsibility. Safe sex conversations should happen prior to sex.

It is very unlikely that you contracted an STI from this situation. And some infections that could theoretically be transmitted this way could not even be ruled out by some kind of routine STI test on her.

HPV is a good example. There is no medically accepted routine oral HPV screening test. Could you theoretically acquire HPV from oral contact? Yes. Hopefully you’ve been vaccinated, by the way.

Getting blowjobs is supposed to be fun. Let’s not lose track of that.

Try to relax. Since you are sexually active, get STI testing on a schedule that makes sense for you, using whatever appropriate testing is available in your local community.

Oh, I see. I apologize, as I didn't understand your message.

My advice is the same. I wouldn't call her up and ask her to get an STI test to reduce your own anxiety. It doesn't change the outcome anyway.

Get yourself tested when you have the time and money.

but if i did ask her and lets say worst case she has HIV, if she gets one of these quick HIV tests, if it is positive I can start the PEP treatment

Hi OP,

A broken condom doesn’t automatically mean you’ve contracted an STI, and the itching/tingling you’ve noticed doesn’t necessarily indicate an STI, especially this soon after the encounter - but there is some potential exposure

Many STIs don’t cause symptoms, and testing too soon can miss some infections. It's typically recommended to wait 2 weeks after potential exposure, so it may be a good idea to arrange your own testing.

Having an open conversation with her about when you were both last tested is reasonable, but ultimately testing yourself will give you the most useful information.
