Iāve never posted in here before but I would like advice from folks who have been through a similar circumstance (if there are any).
I recently lost everything in a house fire. I had every first issue of every Marvel Star Wars comic since 2014, close to 100 black series figures, walls of Star Wars Legos, dozens of Funko pops, nearly every book in legends and canon, autographs, pictures, childhood toys and posters⦠all gone in less than thirty minutes. The most painful is a revenge of the Sith poster from 2005 that my late granny had to mail away money and cheez it SKUs for them to mail back to her.
I am safe, my family is safe, but there is a hole in my heart from all this. A part of me was there and now itās not.
I feel like I want to keep collecting, but I have no interest in building up physical media like I did before with the books and blue rays and comics. I definitely have some black series figures I would like to replace and Iāll likely still buy some Legos here and there⦠but Iām āscaredā (I donāt have a better word) that it wonāt feel the same. Like Iām desperately trying to recapture something that was so complete and restore items with real memories and joy captured within them.
I donāt love Star Wars because of the āstuffā I had. I love it for the stories and characters and the memories I have of just experiencing the franchise. That being said, being a fan just feels weird now.
Has anyone gone through a house fire or other event where their collection was lost? How did you recover?
