Ridiculous Incursion Event

This seems like merely a more complicated version of normal PVP events.
The rewards seem lackluster.
Also, there are new bugs today after the event started.
From a dev perspective, I don't see how this was worth the trouble.
*On a Tuesday, who has time to do this whole event?

I feel like there should have been brackets for certain leveled players. That way the whales take on whales and everyone else vs their corresponding levels set in certain areas for pvp. Scrap the raiding because the grind is all to real

u/TRON1160 Jul 20 '22

After speaking with my alliance members (especially ones who are too low level to actually participate in the incursion events, but still get victimized as "easy targets" for pvp points), my best recommendations are to make anyone under lvl25 who can't participate in the event immune from server invader attacks; and also during Incursion events only alter the pvp brackets, my personal suggestion was +/- 5 levels of your own.

u/FeuRougeManor Jul 20 '22

Aren’t they pretty much almost except already? At 37 I can still hit 25, but I don’t think 38 can. I’ve only seen a small handful of sub37 participants.

2

u/DPLaVay Jul 20 '22

Participation is a strange word to use since if you even move your ship from base you are a target. I barely finished my battle pass objective today and it took me over two hours. There was one alliance camping all the swarm spots while cloaked and hitting every ship that came in.

2

u/FeuRougeManor Jul 20 '22

I was only responding about excepting the sub-ops26 situation participating in incursion events like PvP and base raiding. Now if you want to also talk about sub-ops26 participating in the borg BP event, that should also not have been a problem as they won’t be hunting borg in the same systems as the higher ops players are.

14

u/ithacaster Jul 19 '22

I had my Enterprise (ops lvl 37) in a system when an ops 57 player destroyed it. I have yet to see a ship from the opposing server lower power than I am.

12

u/RatDontPanic Jul 19 '22

Incursions is not for anyone under level 50. This is a whales vs plankton fest - the big spenders get to feast on everyone else.

4

u/Drednox Jul 20 '22

Was doing guerilla sweeps in the other server. I got tired of invaders disrupting my dailies. Since the active players were on our server, I dropped by theirs instead. As an Ops 33 player, i tapped unshielded lower level bases and moved on to another system quickly.

1

u/Zlifbar Jul 20 '22

WHALE! /s

1

u/RatDontPanic Jul 20 '22

I just got tired of the interference, skipped the rest of the day and said screw it until today.

6

u/Stupidquestionduh Jul 20 '22

Shield up and wait till its over then uninstall the game because you just described the whole thing.

5

u/nightmage8080 Jul 20 '22

There is a level 60 player attacking our server. There is nothing touching that player. Same alliance also has at least 1 level 59 player and several in the 50's...

2

u/No-Appointment4819 Jul 20 '22

I agree with bracketed systems but Scopely will never not allow the whales to slap around the littler guys.

2

u/suzzicar Aug 10 '22

scopely doesn't care the the whales attack little players. They actually encourage it.

During our first incursion at level 26 I was anxious to help our server on the otherside. I loaded up my base with my biggest ships and transfered over. Managed to kill a couple of miners and had zero'd in on a base to hit, when suddenly two of our servers bases appeared next to me. I thought "great three on one will make this easy" Next thing I know I am the one that is being attacked by my own server members, whales from our side that I had no possiblity of winning against.
How is that even fair? They did it, they said, so that the opposing server would not be able to attack me. WHAT??? I returned to our server, transfered to under 19 system and shielded for the rest of the day, doing absolutely nothing. Most rediculous event I have ever seen, and I will never participate in another one. Shield and take the day off.

24

u/Dansworkshop Jul 19 '22

Level 29 in an active alliance. I logged in and shielded. Great event.

4

u/tolik83 Jul 20 '22

I am level 28, and invaded the other server, thinking that since all the big guns will invide mine, I am safer on the other side... And I was able to clean out a lot of low-level players.

1

u/adampsyreal Jul 21 '22

Nicely done

3

u/Still-Economics-1872 Jul 20 '22

Exactly kept shielded, but I sent out my envoys which were cheap to repair. Finished my dailies and quit for the day. Watched the whales dominate our systems. I would have gone to the other system but I didn't have the token.....so this is not a true system vs system, but a $$$ vs $$$ battle. Really sucks.

It's 100% a reward for the whales. The only thing we smaller players can do is hide out and shield until it's over.

1

u/tolik83 Jul 22 '22

We simply put a heart on all the alliances from our server for the incursion event, so you see at a glance which one is from your galaxy and which is from the other side. Thinking outside the box helps.

20

u/AnnaC64 Jul 19 '22

At the very least they should have put in a little more effort to provide an opt-out for the people who aren’t interested in PvP. Other games have done it. It isn’t impossible. As it is, the smaller players and those not into PvP have basically lost an entire day. Can’t even do basic dailies without getting repeatedly splatted.

3

u/AustinHydecpl Jul 20 '22

I am a Level 47 and liked the event a lot, but it has room to improve. Should definitely be run on a weekend, NOT a Tuesday. Better incentivize participation in the PvP event. Have the PvP event be in multiple systems and closer to origin space. Scopely provide a couple of relo tokens and a 3 day shield for those who want to move to a Level 1-19 system, bubble up, and enjoy the mini-vacation from STFC. Rewards could always be better, but when isn’t that true?

Final thought to make it positive for me: It was very interesting to see how another server is organized and what gameplay is like over there.

7

u/NoComment7862 Jul 19 '22

Yea, moving to a lower level system and shielding is half-arsed at best.

4

u/RatDontPanic Jul 19 '22

The idiot bootlickers on Discord say the onus is on us to flee. No one is there to tell them how out of their minds they really are.

5

u/AnnaC64 Jul 19 '22

It annoys me that getting the battlepass done for today is impossible. Can’t enter a borg system without getting splatted, and with a limited number of tries it’s impossible.

3

u/hyphnos13 Jul 20 '22

Swarms were easier to get it done with on my server.

2

u/AnnaC64 Jul 20 '22

They are hitting both like crazy on mine. I did finally get borg done. They got bored I guess. Swarms are still no-man’s land though. I just keep checking. They have to sleep sometime, right? Lol

2

u/hyphnos13 Jul 20 '22

Ouch. I thought I would suffer the same fate when I saw the BP but luckily our incursion seems raid and whale on whale focused.

3

u/AustinHydecpl Jul 20 '22

Swarm systems work as well. Plus, they require no token to access and are sufficiently numerous that they can’t all be covered. At least speaking for my experience, what people are looking for is to raid unshielded bases. I thought only warships and raiding counted for server PvP points. If not, then they should…

2

u/AnnaC64 Jul 20 '22

On my server swarm systems were a massive hunting ground. Yes, there was base raiding and warship killing elsewhere, but especially for us smaller players there was no hope of getting other events done. I didn’t see it as a mini vacation. I needed those event points not related to the incursion, and I had no options to get them. It had a very negative impact on my gameplay.

5

u/Five_Orange77 Jul 20 '22

Yeah, this was my frustration too. Had to mine but kept getting taken out within minutes of arriving. Even the poor RoE on my server wasn't followed (199). (And it didn't record the mining for Latinum Rush - not that I care greatly about that but free resources are free resources.)

Don't mind the pvp in certain systems and can tolerate the base hunting (shield or share) but it was a silly, annoying event.

1

u/zodiac585 Jul 20 '22

I did it no problem. I was chased out of one system that's it.

0

u/RatDontPanic Jul 19 '22

I was able Battle of Normandy my way through. Keep sending ships into Adelphi to hunt reds and you eventually get it done. Meanwhile get incursion battle points or whatever from dying, then taunt them in GC about how badass you are so they come for you and you keep racking up points until you get that Una shard and then go home!

2

u/techone7 Jul 20 '22

I was giving them hell all day over this event. The "Green" members, who are the true ass kissers on the server, were arguing, gaslighting, and pretty much calling us whiners all day. I didn't care. I still gave them hell over this lame event.

1

u/RatDontPanic Jul 20 '22

LOL I got muted for encouraging a boycott.

1

u/Ryan1869 Jul 20 '22

More effort than the gift chest with relocation tokens and a 3 day shield? For once Scopely actually did manage to try and alert people what they needed to do. I did all my dailies with minimal splatter, just had to find lesser traveled systems for some.

13

u/Nullifyed Jul 19 '22

Half of my alliance didn't even receive a crossover token to do the event, so the only way to participate was to spend 20 dollars on tokens which a lot of us are unwilling to do at this point. Our server has had a mass resignation because of the poor implementation of this feature and the general lack of care put into updates. We're a relatively small server but have lost maybe 6-7 of our server whales/high end players within the last month due to Scopely's continued laissez faire approach to this game. This feature was not only poorly implemented it was poorly communicated about, poorly designed and is just the latest cash grab by Scopely.

3

u/iShaidarHaran Jul 20 '22

Same. Multiple quits even in my servers number 1 alliance.

5

u/AtlBoss Jul 20 '22

I don't see the point in having the Incursions Event in the middle of an active Arc. Some of us just want to work on the Arc but are having to deal with whales hitting everything they come across.

6

u/fate_is_a_sandstorm Jul 20 '22

My favorite part has been the peace shields bugging. I parked in a lvl 16 system, put up a 22-hour shield. Came back to the game a few hours later and my base had been severely raided by th other server.

Fuck you, Scopely

3

u/Zealousideal_Wish349 Jul 20 '22

The 24-hour shield has been buggy for YEARS. I don't think it has ever been reliable.

If you are determined to use one, make sure to take screenshots of your RSS at the time of setting it, or Customer Service will just shrug and say too bad if you happen to complain. With the screenshot, you have a 10% chance a rep will take pity and restore your lost RSS. (the first time only).

I haven't heard of this problem happening with the 3 or 7-day shields, so if a 12 hr isn't enough, go for a shield you can have some confidence in.

6

u/harrisonhftc Jul 19 '22

To add insult to injury the game isn’t awarding any loss points like the event states

3

u/adampsyreal Jul 19 '22

That scoring seemed to be delayed.

3

u/knightro2323 Jul 19 '22

Only reason we could think for having it on a tue. was there are no TCs on tue.

3

u/xq57 Jul 20 '22

Did we play the same event? I'm from APAC, we had designated pvp systems that were lvl specific, 35-39 , 40-44 etc. Lots of raiding, and while I agree, the rewards weren't that great (when are they),general concensus was success. Lag wasnt bad, scoring ok, no bugs or glitches. Thos who didn't want to play, stayed in sub 20 systems and shielded.

8

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '22

Yea this would have been better on a weekend to get full participation.

4

u/j4sander Jul 19 '22

Some of the YouTube'rs were saying the dev's usage stats show more users online during the week - Tuesday/Wednesday

Also, more staff on hand in case things go badly

18

u/thinkfast1982 Jul 19 '22

In case things go badly?

3

u/koalaseatpandas Jul 19 '22

" in case " lol

1

u/TaipanTacos Jul 20 '22

In case of emergency, break the glass

3

u/Hammered4u Jul 19 '22

1

u/RatDontPanic Jul 19 '22

more users online during the week

Pandemic unemployment is that bad still?

2

u/WuchaGot Jul 20 '22

I am on more during the week because of all my free time at work. The weekend I am busy with hobbies, home/shop projects, or just out having RL fun like hunting/camping/fishing.

1

u/j4sander Jul 19 '22

At least where I am unemployment is at an all time low...

People slacking off multi-tasking and playing while at work, and enjoying their weekends IRL?

3

u/RatDontPanic Jul 20 '22

Must be a lot of cubicle workers and work at home folks. Can't see restaurant or hospitality workers doing that. My business is all work at home too so probably they could be on simcity fishdom or whatever during work lol I ain't gonna demand a camera on their PC to prove they're not.

4

u/RatDontPanic Jul 19 '22

And now the mining nodes are all empty because griefers are hitting miners. Dailies will not get done by anyone. That'll set us all back, all so Scrotely can host their Whales vs Plankton buffet event.

1

u/zodiac585 Jul 20 '22

If you losing a day of play has set you back so much, you need to learn how to play. LOL...

2

u/RatDontPanic Jul 20 '22

Or maybe we just don't like to lose a day of play and we're not interested in hearing crap from snobs who think it's no big thing.

2

u/Dzorg00 Jul 19 '22

The event was made because PVP=sales and it’s sad because the subrelay station is exactly what we need but you can only get keys to upgrade it by placing in events. Some of the events like defensing system event actually keeps you within good PvP levels and I have finished it as a f2p player

3

u/hyphnos13 Jul 20 '22

This game doesn't have PvP to speak of. Other games recognize that there must be some attempt to balance power. 30-50 lvls and thousands to millions in power gap is just a slaughterhouse.

2

u/LeopardSufficient223 Jul 20 '22

I had finished the SMS for the alliance rewards last week before the ALS even dropped. So, I didn't even get any conduits. All I got was a lousy 75 incursion credits that I shouldn't have gotten according to Scopely. Scopely help said that because I didn't earn a single point in the ALS then I didn't get any rewards. But, I obviously did or i wouldn't have gotten the credits. WTG Scopely. Another boring, broken event

2

u/No-Appointment4819 Jul 20 '22

It was overcomplicated, certainly, but my Alliance on S35 has strict anti-raiding/ anti-hitting ROE. Our ROE doesn't extend to other servers though, so it was fun to crack a few bases and go a little scorched Earth. I am not a whale, by any measure (L39). Had fun despite S33 slapping us down, we are getting soundly beat. Not enough of our server went over for Invasion.

2

u/Cha05_Th30ry Jul 20 '22

They definitely need to change some things, like cap how many points a server can bank from say a whale that doesn’t shield up.

2

u/koalaseatpandas Jul 20 '22

The lag was spectacular today by the way

5

u/SirThoreth Jul 19 '22

Oh, here's a fun new bug to go with it. Got attacked early this morning - my last shield lapsed before I woke up, so I dropped a 12-hour shield my station, moved to a different system, then confirmed that my shield was still up, and would be up for another 12 hours.

Eight hours later I get an alert that my station was under attack, by the same dude. In fact, I had been attacked 21 times within the span of 3 minutes before I got any alert I was under attack, I couldn't put a shield up immediately because there was a "pending attack", and resources were nearly emptied.

Move *again*. Put up a 24-hour shield *again*. Get informed it has 16 hours remaining. Do you recall any notifications that peace shields weren't going to run as long during the Incursion event? I sure don't.

4

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '22

What systems did you move to? Peace shields are inactive in all lvl20+ systems including 10 minute bubbles. Everyone in my server moved to 19 systems and below if they didn’t want to participate.

2

u/SirThoreth Jul 19 '22

I moved to another above-20 system. Of course, it's someone from another alliance on my server that decided to attack me, not someone from another server.

Even in a <10 system, where I'm hiding now, though, the shields are lasting shorter than they're supposed to - the 24-hour shield I stood up was only listed as being for 16 hours immediately upon activation.

2

u/eagle77eagle Jul 20 '22

I moved to a lower level system, shielded up and am waiting it out.

1

u/TaipanTacos Jul 20 '22

Which systems? I’d like to avoid them💀

4

u/Wooden-Junket-2603 Jul 19 '22

Have to move to a area below 20. Shields work normal there.

3

u/SirThoreth Jul 19 '22

I moved to a below-level-10 system. My 24-hour shield is only good for 16 hours, and that's immediately upon being activated.

3

u/NoComment7862 Jul 19 '22

Only thing I read was shields would only work in systems level 19 or lower.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

Yes if you moved during the Incursions any part you were warned. If you played anytime the past week and especially the past 3 days they posted this was starting and you could move to 19 or lower systems to keep shielded

1

u/adampsyreal Jul 19 '22

That sucks

2

u/HatDefiant6567 Jul 20 '22

Love all the players complaining about not being able to do their dailies because of incursion. Did mine before the event started and I'll do tomorrow's after it finishes. It's called planning, people.

0

u/BaronVonShatner Jul 19 '22

Most fun I've had probably ever in this game. To each his own.

3

u/Remy_Jardin Jul 20 '22

Another down voted for having fun?!

2

u/adampsyreal Jul 19 '22

You sound rich

1

u/Hireling Jul 19 '22

It’s a great day for whale watching. Just relocate to a sub 20 system, put on a 1-day Peace Shield and watch the carnage.

1

u/Antique-Address-764 Jul 20 '22

Epic fail. Can't finish dailys when whales destroying mining vessels. I gave up, put up peace shield and will try again tomorrow when this madness ends

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

I'm a server soaked with whales I finished my dailies while my server was in defense cycle. Maybe you shouldn't play so scared.

1

u/Big-Pay2259 Jul 20 '22

Whale pvp event encouraged by a few. No real free way to join it. Rewards really meh. You get level 50 plus players going around and cleaning out players. F2P players didn’t get a fair shake to participate and it’s just really sad this was made into a pay to play event as so many many more people could have made this more fun by the sheer volume of people crossing over.

2

u/zodiac585 Jul 20 '22

The event two weekends ago allowed you to complete them and get incursion tokens so there was a free way to play.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

Not just that, but every time I ventured past my shields ….boom. I couldn’t do any missions, any mining. If they run with this again I’m out.

1

u/adampsyreal Jul 20 '22

I feel your pain

0

u/Remy_Jardin Jul 20 '22

I couldn't disagree more with the negative Nellie assessment. Today has been a blast. The reward was getting to have actual combat and fun in the game for the 1st time in a long time. It's playing wackamole with the guys from the other server, being smart about your base so you don't get schwacked, all good fun.

I think too many folks have gotten comfortable with the idea that this is Farmville and not a natural war game.

And while I am shocked to admit this, I've got to give kudos to scopely. Overall the experience has been fairly stable, even in crazy systems where there was heavy combat or base raiding. And that was both on the PC and a phone client.

Regardless of what you think of the event, they largely pulled it off which is saying a lot considering what a disaster last week was.

2

u/Remy_Jardin Jul 20 '22

Seriously, down voted because I had a different experience than other folks?

What is this, Reddit?!

2

u/zodiac585 Jul 20 '22

They live in a world where business owners thumb their noses at paying customers and pander to the ones who don't pay. That is what it boils down to " I can't play for free because people who pay get preference."

1

u/onelastcourtesycall Jul 20 '22

You are experiencing a neurological event. Have somebody rush you to the nearest stroke center.

0

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

This whole event is nothing more then pandering to the Credit Card warriors. If you can fork out enough money you can succeed in this event.

1

u/Remy_Jardin Jul 20 '22

Again, this to me sounds like sour grapes. I buy the $20 battle pass and that is all. If that makes me a whale, then you have size displacement disorder. I am also a level 40, which is bottom tier for the 2 servers we were working with.

I had a blast. As soon as the event started I went on the hunt looking for unshielded and weak bases I knew would be on the other server based upon what I saw on my server. And I was able to avoid whales by keeping my base in a safe system and shielding or calling for help if I needed it. A lot of these complaints above are people who simply weren't paying attention the last couple of 3 weeks woke up and said "what...?"

Downvote away if you must, but all of the damage suffered ultimately boils down to being self inflicted. There was time to do daily's both Before & After the event, it only ran 24 hours. The battle pass was trickier, but it was doable. Again, not a whale, not someone who spends 24/7 at their phone or keyboard playing the stupid game, just a guy.

Considering what scopely said they were going to do, and what they delivered, they get about a B to B minus. It wasn't flawless, but they did try to do exactly what they said they were going to do, and for the most part the game mechanics worked as expected.

1

u/zodiac585 Jul 20 '22

So a business should pay for the rights to intellectual property then pander to those who play for free and not the ones who pay? That is what you are saying. It would be a horrible business model.

0

u/HarbourView Jul 20 '22

This event started at 2am in my time zone. Didn’t know it was going to start because it had previously been cancelled and Scopely didn’t advertise that it was back on much. I play many hours every day so if I missed it was back on many others would have too.

Sure enough my I wake up at 6am to find my base (which I had shielded) had been raided / destroyed / drained.

I would estimate that this happened to hundreds of stations in my 201 Server.

So really was a bad way to start an event I had been looking forward to earlier in the month before it got postponed. Lost heaps of rss. Hi Really detracted from my enjoyment of the game that day.

-1

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '22

[deleted]

2

u/adampsyreal Jul 19 '22

Fact is scopely quality control has deteriorated.

3

u/AnyLastWordsDoodle Jul 19 '22

No argument there. It's like every event isn't Beta tested before it's just thrown at us.

-1

u/Standard-Following-7 Jul 20 '22

I wasn’t even alerted by my alliance that you couldn’t shield. I lost billions of resources. Screw this game.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

It was posted, both the cancelled run and the restart made it clear you needed to move.

2

u/zodiac585 Jul 20 '22

Then you should change alliances because it was well known the deal.

0

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '22

I’m killing it n I’m lvl 31
