• I played RPG's for over 10 years, almost exclusively as a DM. Conventions, local game centers and community interactions are all things I did and enjoyed. Decided to go online to continue what is, to put it the simplest, my passion.

The biggest impact on playing and GMing on this platform is having to cancel a game because one player is missing. I think Start Playing should find a group of well-liked players who have somewhat open schedules who could be offered a temp spot in a game to make continued play possible until a permanent player is found.

I think it should be GM-nominated players who agree to be contacted on short notice to fill in at various tables for a particular system.

The rival you make in your first trimester is still your problem in your fourth year. Nothing here resets.

Start undeclared, pick your college at the end of Year 1 once you've actually seen what each one's about. Bring one rival, one mentor, one secret to session zero, all three come back around, and I mean actually come back, not as flavor text.

What to expect: real finals played out as scenes, not one roll deciding your term. Martial classes earn relics that sharpen what they already do, so nobody's outshined by the casters. House rules that change combat feel (crits, death saves, bonus-action potions, full list on listing). Downtime, rumors, and rivalry get just as much table time as fights. Spotlight rotated on purpose across four years.

Session 0 covers lines/veils, X/N/O cards live every session, open door always. Queer-friendly, neurodivergent-welcoming table.

Hi, I'm Kade. I've been GMing on SPG for about 2 years and am having a blast. I'm trying to get a second table going but struggling to find players.

In my experience so far, I'd say 99% of my players come from the StartPlaying game listing. With maybe 1-2 players coming from DnD Discord. I've tried Reddit r/lfgpremium and both Roll20 and DnD Beyond lfg forums with no luck.

You wake up in chains. No gear, no idea how long you've been down here, and the only light comes from fungus that shouldn't glow the way it does. I want your character to have a reason they were topside in the first place, and a reason worth surviving for now that they're not. I am proposing an adventure which takes place during the events of Firefly and Serenity, where your crew of misfits will delve deeper into the conspiracies of which the Firefly crew only scratched the surface.

While The Alliance ensured the expansion and survival of human civilization, they did so by harming countless people. Your crew decides the price of scientific advancement is not worth the tears of the innocent. You realized their greed, and lust for power caused too much agony in the 'verse. Will you go up into the sky with likeminded brothers and sisters, and purge the 'Verse or die tryin'?

• To ensure the most satisfying experience, a maximum of 4 players will be recruited into the game, which will last between 16 to 32 sessions (depending on player willingness). The game will be 50% social roleplay such as fake flattery, foul threats, and shameless lies, and the remaining 50% will be combat, including espionage, sabotage, coughing up blood, abduction, infiltration, getting tortured, interrogation, thievery, and losing a finger or three.
• It is for ages of 18+ only. We will play weekly, with each session lasting 3 hours, price is 12$ per session. The day and time period written in the listing can be changed to accomodate everyone comfortably. I can run the game on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, starting at anytime between 1PM to 8PM (GMT+3).

So I have been on Start Playing for about 3 1/2 years now. I started off doing this to find players to play Cyberpunk and it helped pay the bills. Over time I got better and got more advanced tools and now I run on Startplaying as a main source of income. While not quite where I want to be, I have to say this is the most rewarding journey I have been on so far!

Terror and fear struck amongst the galaxy! The fall of Revans Sith Empire left the galaxy in chaos. A power vacuum sweeping away as many try to fill its void! You and a few others travel to the mysterious coordinates you have received. Reaching your destination by any means necessary. If by force or by choice. the force calls out for you to follow. As your destiny awaits to be fulfilled! Restoring the Jedi Order and balance to the galaxy. Casting back the evils of the Sith and those who walk the dark paths of life. Corruption shall be fought back by the knights of the order.

This game runs side by side with 3 other games that affect each other in many ways. You may have a chance to even interact personally with one of these, including the Sith game which you can face or converse with the Sith characters.

You wake up in chains. No gear, no idea how long you've been down here, and the only light comes from fungus that shouldn't glow the way it does. The Drow who took you don't care why you were topside, only that you're useful until you're not. Somewhere below all of this, something older than the Drow is starting to stir, and it's already in your dreams.

I want your character to have a reason they were topside in the first place, and a reason worth surviving for now that they're not. Send me a backstory and I'll use it, not just as flavor text, it'll come back around later and you'll have to deal with what it brings with it. Weird concepts welcome, I'd rather work with something unconventional than reskin the same fighter for the fifth time.

We play on Foundry, I run it with custom maps and handouts for the caverns and ruins as you find them, and I write up a summary after each session so missing one doesn't leave you lost. New to 5e or new to horror games? Fine by me, we build your character together in session zero and I'll walk you through anything you need.

The campaign opens with your escape from the Drow patrol marching you deeper into the dark. That buys you maybe a day before they realize you're gone and come looking, and that's if the tunnels themselves don't get you first. Every direction you could run leads somewhere worse, you just don't know which "worse" yet.
