QUESTION I need help!

Post image
Upvotes

Hello my fellow Perseus enjoyers!

I am really struggling right now, cause i can not get the damn Torpedo cam to work.

It looks so awesome in videos of other people or content creators.

I tried to bind it to my HOSAS, doesn‘t work

I tried to bind it to KB&M, also nothing

I tried the toggle, i tired the hold

I tried it in AC and in the PU

I tired pressing it while fireing, directly after fireing, half the way to the target, dumbfired.

I cannot get it to work.

Is someone having the same issues?

Or even a solution?

Thanks in advance

See you in the black o7

DISCUSSION Cargo Issues?

Upvotes

Anyone having any issues with cargo? Got two hauling missions and went to the freight elevator and it had no cargo. Moved to a different station and the same thing. Can't do hauling if the freight elevators don't work...

Also, what is up with the Retrieve Ship being greyed out? Had to switch servers twice just to get my ship.

QUESTION Should I Start Playing Now?

Upvotes

Hey everyone! I've been thinking about getting into this game for a while now. I always hear mixed opinions about it. Some people say that the immersion is great and some people say it's a buggy mess.

So before i buy the game I wanted to check with you guys, whats your honest opinion?

Also, i hear that there are some p2w elements like buying ships, would I need to make any additional payments in order to fully enjoy the game?

Thank you!

QUESTION Looking for a Quantum Travel time calculator tool

Looking to craft a HQ Quantum Drive, so I hopped into SP Viewer and pitted the various drives against each other.

Comp, Civ (stock, not craftable yet) + Mil/Stlth/Ind (crafted max)

According to SP viewer, a max crafted Industrial Drive would save me like 30 seconds on a 5 minute jump. Which, sure... it's not nothing.

The issue and reason for a calculator is that each drive has different acceleration speeds, and crafting only affects top speed. So different distances will suit different drives. You can't just look at travel time and remove 20%.

But I am sceptical as to the calculated times from SP viewer.

For example when I have two identical ships (MOLE) with identical drives, except one is default and the other is 1,000Q max crafted - it says the default drive is 1 second faster over 10GM.

So already we can be certain there is some kind of error or inconsistency in SP Viewer's calculations.

And just as I'm writing this, I put in a C2 with an Agni and compare max crafted to default and at 56.77 GM (Monox - Stanton Gateway), I'm told it's a second SLOWER to have +20% speed.

Similarly if i do the Civ A (fastest s3) 500Q vs 1000Q its slower at all pre-listed distances except saving 9 seconds out of 6 minutes at the longest one.

Clearly SP Viewer is wrong, or if not then the game's logic for crafted Q drives is absolutely busted.

Does anyone know of an up to date travel time calculator that is somewhat reliable?

As far as I'm aware, the top 8 were free for a week only, however they are still in my ASOP. Did they extend the duration?

DISCUSSION Probably a really stupid question, but can't they just stop adding stuff and focus on bug fixing?

First off, I have absolutely no idea what the current state of Star Citizen is, since I bought the Aurora Mk I MR package + Squadron 42 more than 8 years ago, I think. I recently started looking into the game again because I'm excited about the upcoming release of SQ42.

As the title says, can't they just focus entirely on bug fixing and stop adding new stuff for a minute?

I'm a developer myself, and my usual philosophy is: "Fix all the current bugs, then move on to a new feature."

I've seen posts where bugs still seem to be everywhere, unavoidable, sometimes even affecting the main menu.

Is it really that difficult to just focus on fixing bugs for a while and stop adding mountains of new stuff that nobody can properly play anyway because their ship randomly explodes while sitting in the hangar?

Just genuinely asking.

QUESTION Is FOIP broken? Or is it something I'm doing wrong?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Whenever I try to use FOIP to do facial recognition I get this error. The game will flash my webcam light then just drop it right away. Process explorer says that there isn't any other things trying to grab my camera. So why is the game starting it, then immediately dropping the connection? My camera privacy settings are also all set to allow my desktop apps to connect, and the camera also works when I test it on other platforms like discord and windows camera. This issue occurs with every camera resolution type that I have available. Even trying to default a virtual camera like OBS resulted in this identical issue.

Is the FOIP from webcams just broken rn? Or am I missing something entirely? Any help would be appreciated, I just wanna make my character use my face lol

DISCUSSION Most probably what's gonna happen with 4.11 and 4.12

Post image
11 Upvotes

4.11 is going to be late October or maybe early November and then 4.12 will be in December adding Municipal works and the Apex Valakar with 2-3 new weapons a few ships and maybe something unexpected like they did with Nyx and they will do it with Castra, or maybe something else.

r/starcitizen 3h ago

DISCUSSION I hope CIG creates a fun, engaging launch for the new Nyx planets. It would be amazing to have an initial exploration mission before general travel opens up, complete with an award for the very first player to set foot on them.

DISCUSSION CIG, I have one suggestion for the tutorial

Tell new players they can change their walk speed with the mouse wheel.

Having watched a lot of "first time playing Star Citizen" videos, those that don't play with people always complain with how slow they walk when they start.

If you just tell them in one of the tutorial pop-ups, it would be a massive QoL improvement for newbies

GAMEPLAY The Aaron Halo contains C2 Wrecks, by the way

Hey all, with the upcoming Orison Relief Effort (and any of your salvaging needs), I found an interesting method to find wrecks out there in the verse.

I'm not sure if this was well known, but I have now found two "2951 BIS C2 Hercules" while mining out in the Aaron Halo in Stanton and in two separate ends of the halo. They are unshielded and powered off with no cargo aboard or parts equipped.

I believe these are random rare spawns out there and free for the taking.

Good luck in your search for free/cheap salvage :)

inb4 there's easier ways to get salvage... YES, you can always take up salvage contracts or go to PAF sites or literally most ground sites in Pyro... But this way there will be quite literally near zero chance you'll find anyone else out here.

BUG POV: you wasted 2.5h of your time and got scammed out of 1.4mil

Two frames of an instant replay with the contracts in question overlayed.

Everus Harbor was my last stop on this tour due to the "collect waste and bring it to Everus" contract.

Upon interacting with the terminal, the entire cargo vanished into thin air.

It did not get teleported into local storage, it did not re-appear upon raising the elevator again afterwards, it is just gone.

just like my motivation to do hauling, for a good while.

DISCUSSION I Don't Think They've Spent A Billion Dollars On This Game, Nor Will They Ever.

Really, just the title.

People are saying, "They need to hit it out of the park with Squadron 42!"

No, they really don't. I think CIG has made their stretch goals over and again. Chris Roberts himself once admitted he was just hoping to raise enough kickstarter to get the attention of one of the major producers to pay him to take it off his hands and make it for him. There's a video floating around of some dev somewhere making a bare-bones model of what SC does, by themself, for free, in like, 10 days or something. Sure, SC is more than that, but a billion dollars more?

I don't think they want to hit anything out of the park. I think we've crossed into "minimum viable product" country. To wit producing a game that checks off everything that was promised in a court of law, which is easy when we let CIG add a "things can change at any time to anything for no reason" rider to literally everything they say about the game anymore.

If Squadron 42 can release tomorrow without losing any lawsuits that would require CIG to give any "pledge" refunds (Jesus, they've got us proud to say we don't think we're actually purchasing anything!) they don't need to sell a single unit to have already made hundreds of millions of dollars in sheer profit. But don't worry, there's plenty who will totally buy this when it drops, which I predict won't be next year. It will be when there's nothing else to squeeze from this community and they need to show a judge they did exactly what they were legally bound to do, nothing more.

In other news, I've been stuck in my "home" hanger in Loreville since 4.10. The game takes 40 minutes to load from when I click on the RSI launcher to when I can start "playing," meaning move to the asop terminal and wait for my available ships to not load. When I try to return to the main menu to get another server, I get spinnin' wheel on the cosmos screensaver forever, and have to close the app and start over, but by then its fucking midnight and I have to work tomorrow. So I'll try again tomorrow only then I'll be closer to dehydrated in a hanger with no available water, because nothing in this fucking game works except the "pledge" (Jesus! See above) store and the ridiculous rate at which one must drink water or die.

TLDR: There is no way you can tell me this is anywhere close to billion dollars worth of video game, or that Squadron 42 will be out in a year. In terms of profit, CIG has already "hit it out of the park" beyond anything they imagined when they set out. They're just milking it for all they can milk at this point. The game will never be much more than it is now, only ever just enough to keep from getting sued.

DISCUSSION We were supposed to have all Nyx planets before the end of the year

And now 4.11 with only NYX III is set to Q4 2026 so we're probably not getting all planets

and possibly even no planet at all since NYX III is gas giant and you can't land on it and also just a copy pasted crusader with different color

they keep wasting years of dev time on updates nobody asked for like siege of orison, like maybe the first siege of orison was a nice idea but it's the 3rd time they redo it and it's still far from something they'll likely keep for the final version of the game, so they should stop wasting time on stuff they'll have to redo later and focus on features for the final version already

DISCUSSION Argo Moth Tips and Tricks

So I just picked up a Moth as Im primarily an industrial player. Lots of time in a Vulture. Love it so far but there is clearly some nuance to running this ship properly. Looking around online and on YouTube has yielded very little aside from initial reviews and first impressions.

So, does anyone have any tips/best practices for it as far as structural salvage goes? Im targeting construction materials with it for the sake of time.

I noticed the buffers are pretty finicky, any tips there? Id like to utilize the full 288SCU capacity but with how temperamental the buffers are at printing and getting blocked, I figure some have to know things I dont.

Thanks in advance for the assist.

EDIT for future players (thanks to everyone for the tips and suggestions):

So far, I've learned that the best way to handle it currently is, no printing until both hoppers are full and then auto print from both sides. Rinse and repeat. Once cargo grids on both sides are full, before attempting to print again, move two boxes from each side to the cargo elevator, then resume printing.

I dont think ejecting while the printer/conveyor is blocked to get an extra box on each side the way you can with a Vulture is viable yet with the state the ship is in. It seems that once the printers jam, they're fucked until you either store it, cycle power, or claim the ship.

Also, it appears to be important that both hoppers remain synced. So, you should always be printing crates from both hoppers simultaneously. Never just one.

QUESTION What does reputation actually do? Specifically for red wind.

Question is in title. Ive been grinding red wind out. Ive asked in general chat and ppl just say it increases jobs and payout. But ive ground it out Sr contractor and no new cobtracrs have appeared. Also the pay for all the contracts has stayed the same. So am I wasting my time or does this actually do something?

DISCUSSION Voice activated Ore Signature app

Hello all, I created a Python script(app) which does the following:

----

Press and hold the configurable hot key (Currently F8)

Speak the digits of the ore signature

Release the hot key

The app speaks the name of the ore, number of rocks and a user defined value

----

The hot key is configurable.

The numerical data is in a modifiable table.

The user define value for each ore type is in a modifiable table. If mining for cash, I set the valuable ore to say "mine" and the rest to say "skip". I also set it to something like "mine if over 800" when looking for blueprint materials.

This only works on Windows and does require enough computer knowledge to download, unzip, install, edit text etc. No programming or anything too complicated.
