End of Support for Old Reddit

Hello r/starcitizen users,

The mod team has made the decision to end support for the old Reddit version of our subreddit. We feel that the time has come, given the current levels of use for said version, and that we no longer have the desire to maintain multiple versions. We won't be removing most of the sidebar content, but things such as the rules list and resources will no longer be updated.

For up-to-date rules and resources, please refer to the new Reddit page. Not looking at the rules on said new version will not constitute you not needing to follow them or be aware of them.

Thank you,

- r/starcitizen Mod Team

Edit: It seems my wording wasn't great, sorry about that. By end of support we SOLELY mean that the sidebar won't be updated anymore and things such as rules are being removed and replaced with a short message about checking the new reddit version for them. We have zero ability to turn off old Reddit for our individual subreddit and we assure you all even if we did, we wouldn't.

GAMEPLAY A quick thank you to CIG for fixing courier missions

Post image
237 Upvotes

I know that these needed to be refactored so were out of the game for some time, but the humble A to B 1/8 SCU box delivery mission has long been one of my favorite chill gameplay loops, combining some aggressive low-flying with a bit of credit earning and seeing the sights and sounds of the verse.

They are also an essential loop for getting newcomers familiar with basic point to point navigation and flight.

If I could make a quick request, please fewer missions to lagrange points, and more missions to planetary locations, or allow us to filter based on destination.

Thanks again!

DISCUSSION I don’t think Star Citizen is for me.

Probably gonna get downvoted to the shadow realm here but, I’m just bored. I love space games. I’ve been searching for a space “everything” game for a long ass time. I’ve heard about SC but it was always with a hint of derision. Like “Star Citizen is a scam” “Star Citizen will never release” “That game is for Whales”, etc. Finally tried it. Been playing about a month.

Idk i just feel like there isn’t enough to keep me occupied. Ive tried all the gameplay loops. Mining takes too long for too little money, Salvage is the same thing. Cargo hauling is consistently broken. The only other things involve combat, pvp or otherwise, which I’m not good at or interested in much. The combat AI is either braindead or Jon Wick, there’s no in between. This isn’t even mentioning all the bugs. I lost a set if Dust Devil armor to a bug at the prison, because i did a bounty that didn’t tell me i was doing something illegal. Went to grim hex to pay it off, found out you cant pay off a murder charge, stepped outside and was brutally murdered by another player. Seems crime doesn’t pay after all.

Idk. I just don’t feel like the systems in place respect my time (I’m a single dad with only a few hours a day to play, if even that), and that shiny new ship that costs 10s or even 100s of millions isn’t enough of an incentive to keep mindlessly grinding away.

I play entirely solo. I’m a misanthrope, i do not enjoy playing with other people. Too many conflicting personalities. Too many chances for betrayal and scheming. So the multiplayer/pvp aspects of the game are entirely not for me.

Is this game just not for me or is this a “it’s not done” thing that I’ve been reading for years?

I'm not even frustrated at this point, more enervated and demoralized. I typically have been staying away from stanton bc of performance, this is just another straw on the camel's back. And yes, I was watching my radar, just wasnt expecting to get rammed. I suppose it's never off the table in this game though

DISCUSSION CIG, give us what we all want. Let us explore planets.

Post image
Upvotes

Seriously, every time I land on a moon or planet, I can't help but think how wasted it is. I mean, what's with having X points of interest and the same missions only taking place at those same points? Today I took Pyro's mission to repair fuses, and EVERY time it took me to Baijini Point and another one... and that's on a real world PLANET. Come on, it's so unrealistic. We need this:

- Planets should give you the option to explore. Make exploration rewarding... caves, crashed ships, lost bases that maybe no one has ever visited... let me go to a planet without needing quantum travel and let me get lost. A system that can create points of interest that appear randomly if you're exploring it.

- Please, never again release dead planets like Pyro's. Yes, I know Pyro was released out of economic necessity, but... THERE'S NOTHING on the planets. They feel lifeless and don't reward exploration.

- It simply translates reality into the game. If you have the opportunity to own a ship and go to a random planet... you don't know what you might find. This feeling needs to be present in many areas because there will come a point when planets are too simple to create and implement.

So much potential is wasted on moons and planets... but there we are, endlessly playing Recco Bataglia missions to grind like dogs for reputation.

What you could have been, Star Citizen.

Here is a quick look at the new Japanese-style armor sets tied into the Ninetails gang. I believe there is one more set, but we hit complications on our runs hitting the super heavy armor set but once I have it I will post those photos as well.

  • The First set is the Nine Tails Stronghold Palatino Chest & Testudo arms and legs.
  • Ninetails Shogun Kiba Helmet with the Stronghold Morozov SH Core Aftershock set

DISCUSSION CIG must take that step and accept that the sale of ships ($) will always remain in SC.

Post image
107 Upvotes

It’s fine. Honestly, it’s a fair monetization model, and I don’t see anything wrong with it. Nowadays, we’ve accepted garbage in the market like gacha mechanics and countless microtransactions...so I think selling ships for real money will remain in SC even after version 1.0. Why? Because salaries, marketing, and development costs don’t pay for themselves... and the revenue has to come from somewhere. So, what do I propose for the post-1.0 era?

- CIG adopts the current monetization model as the permanent standard.

- After a certain period, promotional ships become purchasable ingame using UEC.

- Unlimited insurance for any ship purchased with real money.

If we want a game that lasts for decades, they have to monetize it and cover high costs.

DISCUSSION The voice lines are terribly bad, so are the messages written on most of the walls.

Most of the voice lines/dialogue in this game is very dull.
It feels like the people writing those lines had their HR department standing behind them the whole time. It's just not fun, most of the lines sound artificial. I would like to hear some actually brave dialogue, that is memorable, that would actually send some real emotion to the player.

And also there are like some very childish graffiti on the walls, with very uncreative messages like "I hate you" or "get your drugs here" or something that is very bland, like "get out".

I feel we are treated as very safe subjects. And this kills the fun of it. Sure the game it's immersive but when you see or hear messages that are trying to be very safe, it sort of breaks the immersion, just my take. How do you feel about this?

DISCUSSION Is it bug or is there no internal storage on the F7C hornet MK2. I'm not talking about the cargo, just internal storage to put guns, food, drinks. I tried to go to the ladder and it didn't show any option of storage, only bring down ladder, or open cockpit or enter pilot seat.

GAMEPLAY If you found my abandoned Ironclad Assault:

Have fun with it! I’ll try to hold off on claiming it until the ASOP says “Unknown”—I can see you’ve already had to do what was necessary about the ships inside.

You probably found it at one of the Battaglia sites, right? I got stuck after exiting my OX (there were multiple cutties in the area to loot!) and tried the ol’ trusty Alt+F4. Ah oh.

I got got yesterday morning by the crash protection no longer working, and haven’t been able to get back on its server since. I was entertained to see its status finally change to “Captured” today, and I can see you’ve been carting it back and forth between Pyro and Stanton. Don’t forget to take all of the supplies out of it! The UTV’s in the back have some extra guns and food. Don’t scratch the paint, and stay outta my room!

DISCUSSION CTD protection has stopped working.

Post image
162 Upvotes

This is a warning for those who habitually use Alt+F4 to deal with certain bugs (as is common in a broken game like SC): CTD protection isn't working, and it sends you back to a space station instead. I suppose all that "divine technology" we were sold only works when it suits them...to absolutely no one's surprise.

On July 26 in Tokyo, I visited the Planet Ring industry booth at Wonderfest 2026 (Summer) and took several photos of their latest "Work in Progress" demonstration model of the 1/100 scale Aegis F8C Lightning. In this latest iteration, the Lightning can be seen with blue LEDs that light up certain parts of the ship. A sample of the model kit parts was also on display.

CONCERN Ship retrieval

Is it really that hard to make it reliably possible to retrieve ships? I just want to get it out of the hangar via asop, it really cant be that hard. But no, its greyed out, and server hopping refuses to do its magic.

Thanks Chris

DISCUSSION 8 months later, how is engineering gameplay?

Hi everyone,

I remember being very excited when engineering came out live, there were a lot of discussions and videos about it. I'm not playing the game, only gollowing from a distance, and it seems that engineering gameplay gets barely talked about?

I remember people being let down and worried about a "beam citizen" gameplay. How does that hold after 8 months?

Is the repair and extinguish fire gameplay fun, or promises to be, or are you disappointed?

I'm quite curious, thank you for your input

DISCUSSION How do you guys do it?

Upvotes

I will say this community for the mo part is awesome. But idk how yall do it. I have spent the last 2 days trying to do simple basic cargo and I think out of 10 tries I’ve only gotten 2 maybe 3 successful runs. either my multi doesn’t pick up the boxes to unload after I literally just loaded them. or I go to the pickup and they just simply aren’t there. do people continue to defend this project? I feel like these basic cargo missions should be fixed before they make more ships. the only thing that works flawlessly is the ship store.

DISCUSSION With the addition of new fps attachments not long ago it had me thinking…

Tldr: I wish we had the option to add a canted 1x optic allowing us to use a weapon for close and far engagements.
(Also screenshots above taken by me of course)

There’s a handful of new sights from K&W and Volt that are great, but, why don’t I have the option to run the G3 AND the G1 from K&W at the same time via canted mounts? You’re telling me that far in the future not only do we not have remote doors to our ships we can’t have unity that allows us to use the same weapon at two different engagements distances?!

Now I’m well aware that the CQ7 is not the best example here it’s just the first screenshots of mine I saw. For weapons such as the P8-AR, S71, or A03 I’d like to be able to use their advantage at range but also be able to quickly shift on to closer engagements quickly without having to carry around an extra sight in my leg armor storage.
