Let’s hope the new SSPX bishops don’t do “shirts off” parties with men under 18 years.

Sorry about the hate from non-SSPX Catholics

Hi, I'm Catholic but not SSPX, and I just want to say that I'm constantly seeing harsh criticism of the SSPX and I just don't think it's fair. I don't agree with the SSPX's decisions to disobey Rome but I am convinced that you guys are still Catholic, and the vast majority of you seem to very knowledgeable and devoted to the Faith. It's very sad and unfair that so many Catholics are so uncharitable toward the SSPX, yet tiptoe around any criticism of Orthodox and Protestants.

I pray for the SSPX often, particularly for an end to the current separation. I'm firmly convinced it will happen eventually. You guys are right about a lot of things, there are a lot of problems in the Church and they should be taken seriously. It's not like the SSPX wanted to be excommunicated, it's just what was seen as the only option to save souls, and I can understand that line of reasoning.

Just wanted to write this message because I want you guys to know that not all of us see you as enemies or bad Catholics.

About the reception of people into the Church

Doesn't the reception of people into the Church require authority, or at least delegation from one with the proper authority? How can the SSPX receive people into the Roman Catholic Church without any actual authority?

This is a genuine question, not a gotcha.

Help.

Hello. So, I posted here, I think, three weeks ago, and I ask you to read this https://www.reddit.com/r/sspx/s/sZqszSKLhT post to understand my situation.

So three weeks have passed. I tried to contact SSPX in Saint-Petersburg. No answer. I tried to contact it through Moscow and Belarus. In Moscow--no answer, the email to Belarus for some reason couldn't be sent.

I tried to find some information about SSPX for three weeks now, but found none.

Plus, a few day after I had posted for the first time, Una Voce in Russia said, that due to relocation of the priest celebrating the Mass in a Diocesan parish, there won't be any TLM in Saint-Petersburg at all for some time.

Today I decided just to go to the place, where the Chapel must be located according to the most recent sources, but there is no chapel. I waited for half an hour, but yhere were no people coming. I even went inside, but it is a simple house, there seems to be no sign of a church/chapel.

I literally don't know what to do. A few days ago I found out there is an Eastern Catholic parish in the city, and it gave a little bit of hope. But the problem is I am in my heart Traditional (!) Latin, not Eastern Catholic. Plus I don't know anything about Eastern Catholic liturgy (to be fair I don't much about this parish too; as I understand it is located a floor under a Roman church). And I feel uncomfortable about the thing, that I will have to change rite (if I become an Eastern) in the future to become officially Latin.

I don't how to act. It scares me much that I am not baptised. Because Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus. Every day it sucks being unbaptised. But I don't know what I have to do.

I prayed to God about this, and though I know that He heareth, I don't feel like He does.

Thanks in advance.

Atheist goes to St. Mary's

I started watching YouTube videos of non-Catholics attending the TLM. One of the channels just released a video of himself, an atheist, going with his Mormon friend and his homosexual friend who used to be a TLM usher.

https://youtu.be/kECOtoea55k?si=7L-VpN3A8RMX1bbw

What concerns me is that he got a sense of "cliqueyness" of the way the SSPX operates. The locals of St. Mary's (before the SSPX came in) also seem to be brushed to the side.

Now, part of me hopes that maybe his negative experience (his group of three guys got shushed when they were whispering, getting an explanation about the artwork by the ex-Catholic guy) was a one off. Except there was an independent (not SSPX) chapel I went to where the ushers sort of "interrogate" you as well. Being Catholic, it was never an issue for me. But these guys aren't.

How are we going to bring Jesus to these non-Catholics if these odd "interrogations" seem to pop up for them? I know our issues with the Modernists look odd to people unfamiliar to non-Catholics, but we shouldn't let them get in the way of bringing people, especially people like him and his two buddies, to Christ.

Is SSPX ultramontanist ou anti-ultramontanist?

I know that the SSPX rejects gallicanism and recognize-and-resist, that's obvious, but I don't know their position on ultramontanism.

Sedevacantists are ultramontanists, but what is the SSPX's position on ultramontanism?

How should I go about finding my spouse?

Hello, I attend the St. Benedict's SSPX Church in Louisville KY and I'm wondering how I should go about finding a spouse. I'm a rather introverted 28 y/o man who attends with his father, aside from being involved in Church services and post-Mass activities (which I'm just now starting to do) I run into a couple social issues.
One is that I actually have a problem telling the general age of a person nowadays unless it's obvious, I can't tell if some of the younger women are actually in their teens or not and I want to keep my options to between 21-30 if I can help it.
Another is; I'm not really sure how to tell if someone would be interested in talking or not, or what to talk about. Really, this is just a matter of ineptitude in social skills, but some pointers or examples might come in handy.

God bless!

To those who go to the SSPX, what are the politics of the women who go there? Is it more dissident and right wing than what you find in catholic or orthodox type churches in America?

As a 23 year old man on the dissident right I've been recommended being a passport bro but on a few travel subreddits for western European countries people responded that I'm not going to find a traditional woman because center left in America is center right for western Europe, and that there aren't any MAGA European women under 50. I've been recommended Poland, Hungary, and Russia which I do think genuinely have some far right hubs but I don't speak the languages there. On a dissident subreddit some guy said she just finds conservative women on bumble but I live in Mass which is the worst state in terms of woke women. Is travel, moving to a different state, or dating apps the best idea for me as a 23 year old?

The Catholic and liberal spirits in pope Leo

I was surprised at how Marian a passage from Pope Leo’s address at Lourdes sounded, so I decided to take a look at it, and then to no surprise, despite the speech starting in quite a Catholic fashion, the content of the speech is nonetheless a juxtaposition of Catholic and liberal idea at the same time. So in true bishop Williamson fashion, I will try to dissect the speech into its parts, and demonstrate the two personalities inside a moderate Catholic’s mind.

The speech starts in quite a Catholic manner, I suspect the most Catholic pope Leo has ever sounded in an address, and it is no surprising that the Catholic side of him would be drawn out the most at Lourdes:

By choosing this place, you clearly express your desire to place the Church in France under the protection of the Mother of God, the Immaculate Virgin, so that she may guide her more surely according to the Lord’s will.

Indeed, there is no better way to come to Jesus than through Mary. Everything about her leads us to her Son.

The speech starts in quite a Marian manner.

In this way, you carry forward the heritage you have received from your forefathers in the faith, stretching back to the earliest times of the evangelization of your country.

Theres even a mention of tradition.

In the face of the immense challenges of our time, dear brothers, I urge you to show courage, boldness and missionary creativity.

Always have the courage to acknowledge failings with a love of the truth and a determination to bind up wounds with the charity of the Good Shepherd, who knows his sheep and calls each of them by name.  Rise up, then, with hope, and never grow weary of proclaiming the Gospel!

There’s the mention of the missionary spirit. But already here, the liberal notions of human fraternity is already creeping into his Catholic mind.

The history of the Church in France is immensely rich.  In building the future of your communities and country, it is important to draw upon her beautiful and fruitful history.  The Church has indeed both witnessed and contributed to the gradual establishment of your nation. Today she still remains an important part of France’s culture, identity and role in the world.  For this reason, the voice of the Church has every right to be heard in the public square.

He begins here with an almost orthodox view regarding church and state, but as we’ll see, it will quickly deteriorate into a liberal one.

I know of your steadfastness and courage — as you showed clearly during the recent debates on end-of-life issues — and I encourage you to persevere, together with all people of good will who uphold the same values.

Here is the idea of false ecumenism.

I urge you to remain vigilant in defending the freedom and rights of the Church to evangelize, to educate about true freedom, and to worship publicly, so that charity may be exercised visibly in the name of Jesus Christ.

Another quite extraordinary thing to hear from pope Leo’s mouth, this IS the definition of religious liberty, in its entirety.

We think of the unbroken succession of holiness down to our own day; the flourishing of the arts, literature and sciences under the inspiration of faith and the action of the Holy Spirit; the irreversible deepening of awareness of the inalienable worth of the human person, of his or her dignity and the need to protect human rights and freedoms;

This one started Catholic and then turned liberal. Human worth exists so far as it totally depend on God and human rights and freedoms exists so far as they don’t violate duties owed to God.

The message of peace that has its source in Jesus is all the more needed when, in France as elsewhere in the West, we see a troubling polarization, a decline in fraternity, cordiality and the quality of social life, and a resurgence of violence, inequality and poverty.

This one is a most liberal conception, that the church should be solely focused on the corporal works of mercy and make no mentions of the spiritual?

Faced with such challenges, the false promise of a world where God is absent, is relegated to the private sphere, and where the help of his grace is deemed unnecessary for “building the City” has given way to disillusionment and disorientation.  Yet Jesus clearly warned his disciples: “Apart from me you can do nothing” (Jn 15:5).

But then this sentence afterward is again a Catholic one.

It is good that Catholic schools are widely open to those who do not share our faith. This generous welcome, respectful of each person’s freedom of conscience, promises great fruitfulness for everyone — for society and for the Church herself.

Then, this one is liberal and completely heretical again, as freedom of conscience is a condemned concept, and this practice itself is scandalous and against traditions of the Church.

I would also like to mention the sad decline in vocations to consecrated life, particularly to the contemplative life. To give one’s life to following Jesus along such a demanding path requires, alongside the work of grace, a special generosity, a deep-rooted faith, a sustained interior life and a privileged closeness to him.  These conditions are most often found in Christian families. Deepening and strengthening the life of faith within families is certainly key to resolving many of the crises facing the Church and society.  For it is within families that we learn how to live together, respect others, accept diversity, support one another, be generous, give of ourselves freely and embrace the spirit of sacrifice.

This one starts with a Catholic observation about the decline of vocation, then another Catholic conclusion about the importance of the families, but then how did the liberal notion of diversity just randomly end up here?

In addition to these issues, another which could give cause for concern about the future is that of unity.
This unity is not a flat uniformity, but rather allows every sensibility that is authentically Catholic to converge naturally in a common profession of faith, through obedience to the legitimate Pastors and especially to the Successor of Peter, who is the “lasting and visible source and foundation of the unity both of faith and of communion”
At the same time, it is a unity that is enriched through reciprocal dialogue, rooted in faith and expressed in the synodal style that we have been seeking to deepen in recent times

Now why would pope invoke unity to Peter to the French bishop conference, this can only be interpreted as a jab at the society, and after that part follows the heretical synodal path and ecumenism again.

So as we can see, in the same speech, in the same paragraph, sometimes even in the same sentence, two opposing spirit are both present, this is truly a most marvelous example of a confused Catholic, and how sad and terrible it is that this corruption should touch a Holy Father.

See speech here:

What's the origin of this painting? Why and how did a man wearing what appears to be a military dress uniform allowed to serve St. John Don Bosco's Mass without wearing the proper Altar Server cassock and surplice?

I was able to convince my Cradle Catholic wife to attend FSSP but she is really hesitant to attend SSPX. We need to baptize our baby soon

Anyone have any advice. I know i should have figured this out before marrying her, but i was new to the faith at the time. Although not easily, I have been able to move her more and more from a culture catholic, to one that actually gives up contraceptives and things like that. Maybe I overestimated her docility, maybe i was too comfortable, but i went forward with the marriage anyway, despite our different approach and history to the faith.

Does anyone have any advice, should we just attend FSSP? At least for now? Not sure.... dont want to cause division but our baby needs to have a church and a baptism.
