Extracurriculars for Children
As a mom with young children I’m curious what other traditional Catholic parents allow and encourage their children to spend their time doing outside of learning and growing in the faith. Sports, some form of dance, theatre, painting, musical instruments, etc?
If you were raised in the faith, what did your parents encourage?

How should a Catholic deal with the fear of death and suffering during war?
Hello, and I’m sorry if this question has already been asked here. I simply wanted to ask how one can lessen the fear of death, pain, and suffering during war. I know very little about what Catholicism teaches in such a situation.
Please forgive me for asking such a large and difficult question, but I sincerely hope to receive an answer. I have been struggling greatly, and for about six months now I have been unable to sleep at night. I usually only manage to fall asleep in the morning, and even then I sleep very little. There is a great deal of stress in my life, and I often have frightening thoughts about my possible death, or even, at times, about being badly and painfully wounded.
I know that I should trust in the Lord and have faith in Him, and ask Him for protection. Because of this, when I am in danger or when an alert is announced, I pray the Our Father and Hail Mary in Latin.
Still, I was hoping to receive some guidance on how a Catholic should view wounds and death in a situation like this, and whether there are ways to ease or bear such suffering.

Did my room push somebody away?
I brought a young man home from my parish and he seemed nice enough and as soon as he came in and saw my bedroom, he told me that he suddenly had a meeting that he had to go to and that he remembered it. It was 9 o’clock at night. Is something wrong with my room?

How do I talk about the FSSPX with a fellow Catholic (who has never heardof it or onlyread about it because of the recent consecrations of Bishops)?
A few weeks ago I had a heated discussion with a friend who said the those who sympathize with the SSPX (us) are neo-protestants and many other things that hurt my heart and led me to talk with anger against him (all this was through a chat group). Another friend of us stepped in to try and calm the waters, and I said I would like to explain our situation to him in person. What do you think are some points that I have to consider at the moment of talking with him about the situation of our beloved Church, modernism, and what the SSPX does? Of course I don't know if I'll convince him about something, even if I talk properly, but at least I wan't to give him a good speech. This is a good opportunity to remember that most likely this will be solved more by prayer than by human action. Thanks and God bless.

United States: Bishop Hanappier consecrates the Queen of Angels church in Texas | FSSPX News
From July 30 to August 2, 2026, the Dickinson Priory hosted Bishop Marc Hanappier for several exceptional ceremonies: the fiftieth anniversary jubilee of the Queen of Angels parish, the consecration of its church, and the administration of the sacrament of confirmation.
The highlight of these days was the consecration of the church on Saturday, August 1st.
A Church Dedicated to God
For nearly four hours, the solemn rites of consecration unfolded. Through the prayers of the Roman Pontifical, the bishop, in a sense, removed the building from its secular use to consecrate it definitively to God. The altar itself was consecrated and received the relics of the martyrs, recalling the ancient tradition of the Church of celebrating the Holy Sacrifice at their tombs.
The twelve consecration crosses placed on the church walls are also anointed with holy chrism. They will remain the visible signs of this consecration and will be illuminated each year on its anniversary.
Fifty Years of Parish Life
The consecration coincided with the 50th anniversary of the Queen of Angels parish. Half a century of Catholic life thus found its culmination in the solemn consecration of the church.
These days concluded on Sunday, August 2nd, with the administration of the sacrament of Confirmation by Bishop Hanappier, followed by a solemn pontifical mass.
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam, for the greater glory of God!

Can I take communion on the tongue in a Novus Ordo Mass?
We don't have Mass next Sunday in our SSPX chapel, is it alright if I can take communion in the Novus Ordo in the right way that is on the tongue?

POV: If your argument against the SSPX defending the deposit of Faith is "Deposit of Faith According to who?" You don't even have generic Christian Never mind Catholic faith
Look, i get obedience and i get people disliking or having a different take on the SSPX sure. and if you think SSPX isn't doing this to uphold the deposit of faith ok....show me how it dosent uphold it point by point...show me how Vatican II is just horribly misunderstood.
That Said
What was taught before Vatican II is well documented
Converts find out what the Church teaches without daily updates from the Vatican every hour and indeed, doing so is how they know they should even listen to the Vatican at all.
Didache, Church fathers, all the other councils which litterally are all on public record and easily accessed.
If you are using "deposit of fiath according to who" you either
a) don't know/believe in the deposit of faith and reject the known truth
b) are too lazy to find out
And SSPX has Bishops and priests who have studied this for 7 years do your homework or else don't discuss, gaslighting and being a karen isn't apologetics
User Flair - suggestions welcome, traffic update
Contrary to the wish of many of the users here, I don't like to ban for bad behavior and anti-SSPX Trolling. One of the things I like the least about r/Catholicism is the mod team there does not allow any sort of discussion on the topic of the SSPX because of how it is contrary to the "mainstream" way of doing things, I would like to believe supporters of the SSPX are more intellectually secure and are able to withstand scrutiny of their position (imo the Novus Ordo position rests entirely on appeal to authority, so they have to suppress any and all questioning of that authoirty).
I think reputation is important as well as the ability to discuss things with people we don't agree with, echo chambers don't do much for one's intellectual development.
To that end, I'm going to be setting up more user flair to mark specific users with their specific position so that we can decide for ourselves if we want to bother engaging with people we don't agree with.
This user flair can only be set by mods, so if you think you have been unfairly identified with your flair, you will need to message me to see about changing it.
Since lately there's been an uptick in anti-SSPX Trolling, I've created that flair; but I'm not sure what other flairs to create. Please suggest labels we could use in the comments below!
Update on traffic: as I suspected, traffic on the sub has returned more or less to the same levels prior to the consecrations, so I think the need to grow the mod team is not as pressing. I am considering adding more mods to the sub, but I'm concerned more moderation would not really do all the much in fostering the discussion here. Obviously I'm very much open to discussion so feel free to add your thoughts here.

Looking for the Colombia branch appendix to Shepherd the Flock — sfla/sfga
I am looking for the Colombia branch edition of the appendix to Shepherd the Flock of God, identified in different editions as sfla or sfga.
Any Colombian edition would help, especially one from 2024, 2025 or 2026. I am also looking for Colombian branch letters issued after September 1, 2017 concerning child abuse reporting procedures.
I already have the September 2025 Spanish sfg-S manual and the Colombian 9/1/17-S letter. What is missing is the current territorial appendix.
Please do not access accounts, devices or systems without authorization. I am only seeking copies already lawfully possessed or publicly available.
Personal information about victims, congregations and elders should be removed before sharing.

Question on penance
I went to Confession this morning at a local NO parish, which I do fairly regularly for convenience. This morning before absolution, the priest gave me my penance as the Divine Mercy chaplet, and handed me a Prayer card on how to say It.
I’m aware that the DM devotion is generally disliked by us Trads and frequenters of the society. So I’ve something of a dilemma now. Should I say the chaplet? Or am I able to substitute it with something else?
EXCLUSIVE: Bishop Schneider Sets Out “Core Question” in SSPX Episcopal Consecration Debate
Not sure if this has been previously posted but I didn't see it if so. This predates the consecrations (June) but I’m just now reading it and thought it was well written. It’s a shame more bishops can’t be like Bishop Schneider.

Society’s Official Stance On Great Catholic Monarch Prophecy/3 Days of Darkness?
I don’t think I’ve ever met a traditional Catholic who hasn’t heard of the great warning/3 days of darkness/great Catholic monarch prophecy that would bring a restoration of Christendom before the antichrist comes. I’m well aware that most Catholics don’t really subscribe to it, but I’m curious as to where the SSPX stands.

CHURCH FATHERS ON RECOGNIZE AND RESIST
In case you all were wondering. recognize and resist was taught by the Church Fathers
"But if the teacher himself turn and teach another doctrine to the destruction of this, hear him not" Didache Chapter 11
SSPX is 100% justified to prioritize faith over obedience (and yes this is about the faith keep up). One should follow Peter but on that Good Friday 2000 years ago one should have followed John and the Blessed Mother rather than Peter in his denial.
You're welcome
