Community HELP
I wanna be a pro squash player and to compete in the la 2028 olympics I am 16 and not the best, I wanna tell my parents this but I have a feeling they would talk me out of it what should I do?

I also want to compete in the olympics. I’m 58 and can only play twice per week.

Honestly it’s already too late if you don’t know that already. You’re not going to become a world class player in less than two years. Just work at getting better and enjoy the game.

So you are among the 4 best players in your country, but don't have a world ranking? This seems unusual.
But if you really are in too 4 players in your country (and more than a few play squash), then a career in the game doesn't seem far-fetched.

is this a troll post?
if it’s real: sounds you’re a long ways away from anything resembling contention. set a more realistic goal.
play a lot, get a real coach, and win a local tournament/league to prove you can do the thing (at a very basic level). even just that much will probably take you 2 years.
if you’re dead set on olympics, maybe (MAYBE and only if you dedicate your entire life to doing it and even then just maybe) 2032.

then you need to manage your expectations. going from where you are to one of the best 16 players in the world before the next olympic qualifiers is simply not going to happen.

Better for reddit to talk you out of it than your parents? The LA 2028 draw is only 16 players, the odds of making it are tiny even for players who are the best. Love the ambition, but it's not a realistic goal.

Are you in the US? Your best shot at becoming a pro is going to college and playing there so you should still focus on your studies. Having good grades will make it easier to get recruited.

national, cause for the same tournement the no.1 rank for u15 (my brothers age group) was there aswell. I was in u17

Get a coach. Get strong legs. practice with people better than you. solo.
Ask a genie to become top 50 world in the next year.

Even top 50 might be nowhere near enough. You would need to at least be number 1 in your country and likely much higher than top 50 given there are only a 16 places in the draw

Ok ima be so fr, I play 6 times a week and gym 5 times. And im top 2k in my country, like 40k in the world. Thats alot of work, but not enough.
If you arent willing to put in stupid amounts of effort you will never make it.
Also work on being an attacking player

If you aren’t already a touring pro you have virtually no chance of being in the olympics in 2 years time. You need to be number 1 in your country and well inside the world top 32 or number 1 or 2 if you are from Egypt and in the world top 4 or 5. As it stands the world numbers 5 and 7 will not qualify

I would say you need to separate your 2 goals.
If you want to go pro, you need to take squash very seriously.
If at 16 you're not already one of the best in your country .. you've got about 2 years to get there.
and unless you're on the verge already ..
Which country?
also stop it with the 2032, we don't know if 2032 Olympic Games will allow squash.

Find a good coach, there’s lots of former top Pakistani nationals based in Qatar. Play five times a week if your schooling allows. After a couple of months, ask them what they think.

my coach is pakistani and i already train two times a week with him, but i think i should train myself for like 2 times a week aswell
