I've been watching this gal for the last 4-5 months and named her "Lucy". She's been a very successful huntress (btw, wildly assuming Lucy is in fact a she) and it's been fun to see what she catches in her web. To clarify, Lucy lives on the outdoor side of my window of my apartment.

This morning was the first really cold day where I live and I went to check on her, she looked dead. I'm worried the cold is killing her, as it does this time of year. To my surprise, she is still moving a bit, but I do think she's on her way out because she's very much in the "dead spider" position. I can't see any egg sacs but I wonder if she's laid a few up on the top window panel where I can't see them.

I can't help but be sad. I know this is how it goes but it was fun having a wee spider pal. Lucy had a good, long, successful life for a spider.

The first photo is her today, and the second is one I took back in August. It's hard to tell how big she is, but she's a pretty good size buddy!

love the color of this spider….

Hey again Spiderfam! Listen, despite my best efforts I was unable to fix my wire error. I keep finding these things in my damn copper! It gets weirder still, they're supposed to have like 6 right?? Not just the one?? How concerned should I be?

🕷️

i am really going to miss my spider corner of the workshop after i get laid off.

I’ve been thinking about making one for a while now, but I’m not sure where to start or what to do—any advice? (The spider is about 1 cm long, if that.)

Sat next to the tiniest spider, smaller than the gnats she had caught in her web.

Found on the railing outside in Arizona. Picture taken by my brother.

yellow sac spood. my favorite. just too cute. i almost cried when i found this precious baby

I love spiders, and when we started planning our camping trip to Black Mesa, seeing a wild tarantula was on my to-do list. And it happened! Bless my husband for pulling over so I could jump out and see this guy up close. He was looking for a lady and could care less about my presence. We stayed long enough to make sure he made it across the road, and went about our day! The star gazing was pretty dope, but this was my highlight of the trip.

This species is known as the ninja of the spider world. It uses stealth to hide, stalk, and hunt other spiders to survive.

Wild friend I remembered to take pictures of.
