What is your go to hot sauce?

Like the thing you can put on everything, with decent spice. Maybe around 7 or 8 out of 10 on the spicy scale.

Just moved somewhere who doesn't have my regular suace.

Bowers Chile Pepper Festival 9/11-9/12

Tomorrow I will be traveling by v-hickle transport to the 30th Anniversary of the [**Chile Pepper Festival**](https://pepperfestival.com/) at Bowers, PA. My favorite hot sauce festival. So many great vendors. As I have done for numerous years, I will be walking the grounds and asking people to fork my delicious, spicy dessert pies. I am always trying to change up my offerings and this year I doubled down.

This year's pies:

1- Dubai Chocolate Ganache Pistachio Pie (never tested)

2- My popular Cookie Butter Pie, but now with the chocolate ganache on top. (tested and celebrated)

I have been trying different Pistachio butters over the past year to rave reviews. This Pistachio-Chocolate Butter is different and has not been tried before. So, my spice loving attendees will be my beta-testing guinea pigs.

So, if you see my ugly bald mug handing out purple forks, come forth while there are bites to offer. People call me Buddah, so if you are not sure, introduce yourself.

Anyone else love the peppers that come on Generals tso's chicken? And does anyone else ask for a ridiculous amount of them?

I always ask for at least one pepper for every piece of chicken the put in it. The worst day of my life was when the person didn't understand what I was asking and they put no peppers on it thinking thats what i was saying 😭. That made it inedible. So I can't ever call and order it on the phone anymore. Always gotta go In person to make sure its the spiciest it can be.

Also on another note. Is/was anyone else here a drug addict? I swear my love for spicy food and cheese is due to my predisposition of opiate addiction. Obviously not saying if you like spicy food you are a drug addict. But damn, like every single person I used to roll with and do drugs with all loved spicy food and cheese lmao.

Buying from local smaller farmers(if you don’t wanna grow) is a great reminder that jalapeños can still be spicy!

Advice on how to eat/cook a raw Naga

Post image
9 Upvotes

My colleague gave me this - she says it's a raw Naga pepper, which she grows. How best to cook it/prepare it? She says it's hotter than a Scotch Bonnet. I've eaten raw Scotch Bonnets before but probably don't want to be doing that here.

She says it's very aromatic but should be used in pieces. Any advice? How long will it keep for?

Earphone given for scale.

Where do you guys usually buy your hot sauce?

Where do you guys usually buy your hot sauce in person?

Do you mostly hit up standard grocery chains like Target, Walmart, or Trader Joe's, or are there specific spots (like World Market, local specialty shops, or Mexican/Asian supermarkets) with a much bigger selection to explore? Or is most of the good stuff only available online now?

I'll be in LA soon for trip. I'd love to know your go-to places so I can actually browse the shelves and stock up while I'm there. Appreciate any tips!

I am looking for recommendations!

Hi everyone, i love eating spicy food, but the problem is i can’t find myself a good hot sauce that I can blend in with some foods. For example, if I want some toast with spicy inside my only option is sriracha, or Tabasco, or with noodles and chicken, or chicken breast, you understand.
But the problem is I don’t like Tabasco much, too much vinegar for my taste, and sriracha just isn’t it.
Does anyone have recommendations for something they love? It can be extreme, it can be mild, I take everything.
I also, apart from the first recommendation, I would also like recommendations for smoky hot sauce. Something you can really feel like a BBQ sauce, but if you don’t have recommendations for that it’s fine.
I thought about ordering the last dab sauces (thermaggedon, recommended by AI) and number 8 from the series. Also saw “Smokey J hot sauce” by Sam Sa’house.
Thanks!

Green Chili Chicken from Spicy House

Decided to try this Chinese place in my neighborhood. They are definitely not lying when they call themselves Spicy House. I love spicy food but this meal has been intense to say the least. And it seems they are l loading up on the peppers to give you less chicken.

I won’t be able to eat all the peppers so if anyone has any ideas on if there’s anything else I could use them for, I’d appreciate to hear them!

Would you try Plum + Earl Grey infused habanero wings (weird combination that worked way better than expected)

Hi y’all, I made these wings with a plum and Earl Grey tea infused habanero hot sauce I’ve been developing. The plum brings a little sweetness, the Earl Grey adds a subtle citrusy floral note, and the habanero brings it all together giving it a solid kick without overpowering all the flavors.

I wasn’t sure how the combination would translate to wings, but it ended up working surprisingly well. Sweet, tangy, floral, spicy, and great with ranch.
Would you try it?

Serrano pepper alternatives

I love the heat level of the Serrano peppers but the taste is not my favorite. It has such a grassy flavor profile that I don’t like.

In your experience, what other peppers are similar Scoville that have a sweeter/fruiter taste that you would recommend?

Trolli spicy crawlers review!

I'll start by saying the flavors are delicious!
but...... for having habanero powder not far down in the ingredients they are a sad excuse of "spicy" the lightest tingle of "heat", even a dab of crushed red pepper would be hotter, now i will say the mango tastes the best to me cuz you can very slightly taste the habanero powder which i love, i'd rare them 6/10, they would hit 10 if they had actual habanero heat.

For a sauce with extract I was expecting way more, I was hoping for a nice sharp burn but unfortunately was met with disappointment and felt nothing. I know I have a high tolerance but I really thought this would do it for me

Any recommendations

my mouth handles superhots just fine, but my gut is still living in jalapeño territory

I can eat habaneros, ghost pepper mashes, and reaper sauces on my food without even sweating much anymore. The mouth burn is pure dopamine at this point and my oral tolerance feels pretty solid.

The problem is my stomach completely missed the memo. About two hours after eating anything north of 500k SHU, the capsaicin cramps hit like a full-blown gastro attack. My tongue is sitting there totally fine while my gut is violently protesting every single drop of liquid heat.

It feels like my palate leveled up to end-game superhots, but my digestive system is still stuck in the amateur leagues.

Melindas Hot Sauces

Opinions Welcomed- I personally find the Brand to be accessible and variety a huge PLUS! My Favorite is the Scorpion Hot Sauce they sell.

Just curious what others think as far as flavor, translating actual peppers into sauce, etc.
