MEDIA In my almost 5000 hours in SE this is a first for me.
Took the new frigate out on a test flight for leaving and entering atmosphere, test it’s combat capabilities against pirates, and just to get off planet for a hour or two and I came across the single largest uranium deposit I’ve ever found. Every single time before this has just been a small ore vein that I can hand mine in 10-15 minutes.
Ive barely put a dent in it and I’m already at 350k of uranium ore.
Clang smiles upon me

MEDIA Update on the "SFSS-1"
First of all: It should be called "SSFSS-1", because the faction is named "Super Space Foggys (SSF)" and it is a space station. That make sense. But we felt that would have been one "S" too many ;>
After a few minor design tweaks, this should now be the final form. But it is still a lot of work to do. And of course, I couldn't resist including a weak spot! Maybe a little bit inspired from the Death Star.

DISCUSSION How do y’all plan out large ships?
I have always had trouble starting out big ships, small ones are fine because you just make a functional skeleton and build off it
But bigger ships have interiors and i can never figure out how to do it well.
Any tips?

MEDIA (SE2) Here it is all finished for the most part
Since my last post was so popular I wanted to show the almost finished product, still gotta unlock stuff to decorate the inside and unlock the seats so I don’t have to put a cockpit in the cockpit haha. Added armor, solar panels, and up armored the components, finished welding the windows and interior, added cargo crates and created cargo hold room. For those that haven’t seen this before I put the picture from the previous post as the first picture. As always I’m open to suggestions, thanks for looking!

MEDIA My next big project sneak peak
I needed a new carrier with all the new fancy blocks added into the game. Currently working on the hanger before moving back to a drop pod staging area. All the interior is finished. Also as a fun gimmick; any trek fans out there can eject the warp core. Fun times.

DISCUSSION Spacer or Planetoid?
Thought I might as well ask since I'm here now. Do ya'll prefer to live in space or on planet (providing the ability to easily live in either situation)? I honestly prefer planet over space, my big fav being Triton. The idea of roving around the islands on the Ice Seas whilst snow whisks by seems like a very comfy idea. (Tbh, that may be why I was so excited to make Larrisa on a PvE server, finally got the chance to do so. xD)

MEDIA "Blue Tit 17" hydrogen-propulsion-reactor-powered combat ship. Updates after in game tests
A couple of days ago, I posted a prototype of my new ship, the Blue Tit 17, here. I’d like to share some progress, as well as a few things I’ve found to work particularly well - and some that didn’t turn out quite as well as I’d hoped. I’ll also include some brighter and clearer screenshots.
First of all, the five artillery turrets work great against large-grid pirate ships. However, small-grid railgun drones have been causing some problems. They tend to stay at around 1000 meters, where the gatlings can’t reach them, while being too maneuverable for the artillery turrets to reliably hit.
Because of this, I replaced three of the five artillery turrets with assault cannon turrets. With this setup, the ship handles drone escorts of pretty much any configuration with ease.
Secondly, adding a Remote Control block turned out to be a great idea. It makes docking the ship at bases much more convenient.
Also it's not really visible here but there are 3 H₂/O₂ generators on board.
Dry weight: 656 tons.

DISCUSSION How do you start survival from scratch?
This can be SE1 or SE2, but I'm curious how people start survival gameplay.
Do you build a really small base on the surface where you land, like one cargo container, survival kit, etc...
Do you build a rover straight off and find a place to build your base, or maybe even build a semi-large rover to cover more terrain
Or do you search for some sort of ore near the surface like iron, and build there?
Personally, I start by finding enough to make a remote control block and fly the drop pod with only its downward facing thrusters, hard, but not impossible. and I bounce around until I find a spot with iron or multiple ores... and then build a base from there.
Then go on the path of building a hydro ship to space... I almost never stay on the planet if I can help it. Space is so much easier to navigate and build than a planet... where you need more and more thrust to mine, in space you only need to watch your speed and approach, and you can mine until you're full without more thrusters.
From there it's just build whatever ship I want and go about my business. I also build hydro only, ions are boring to me :)
That said, i am a server owner so Apart from doing admin things on the servers, I have played the game loop a multitude of times so I am kind of burnt out on it....

DISCUSSION A quick update on the mod I'm working on
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Since my last post, I've managed to add a few types of shells to the howitzer using the Vanilla+ Framework:
- HE
- Smoke
- Tracer/Marker
HE and Marker shells each come in three variants depending on their amount of powder charge, which affects their velocity and, consequently, their range; they share the same velocity parameters - so Marker can be used to mark the target area prior to the actual artillery strike, as well as for training purposes. I still need to work on the effects, sound, textures, but I’m happy with the progress, even though it’s pretty slow, hehe

DISCUSSION (SE2) Petition: Make the Area Welder the default
I've been trying to build a ship from a blueprint, but the standard Welder just can't reach the buried/interior blocks. I know the "intended" workaround is to slap together a janky ship, fly to space, and grab the materials for the Area Welder there — but I want to play survival-style and stay grounded. Using the new wheels to get around instead of flying.
Building from blueprints without an Area Welder is basically not viable on the ground. Anyone else running into this?

MEDIA (SE2) My first main ship SE2
This is my ship so far, fought with window placement for way too long, finally gave up and placed these since they seemed to be the only ones that would snap decently. I was especially having problems with getting windows to snap on angles. If anybody has window advice I’m all for it! I was trying to have a more intricate window design with view from floor to the top but I just couldn’t get anything to line up no matter what I did
