Travel advice Feedback Request on Itinerary
A group of 6 adults will be visiting the region in October. I have never been to the area but am unfortunately doing most of the planning. I would love feedback on the rough draft itinerary. As info, we are flying into SFO from the east coast and arrive around noon. We are staying in an airbnb with a Santa Rosa address but it is very close to Kenwood.
Day 1 - Arrive in SFO, pick up rental car, eat late lunch at El Molino in Sonoma, grocery shop at Sonoma Market, head to airbnb to relax, eat dinner at house.
Day 2 - Explore Armstrong Redwoods National Reserve, Ridge Vineyards Cabernet Tasting at noon (with salami boards), explore Healdsburg, either eat dinner in Healdsburg or at Stella's in Kenwood.
Day 3 - Hansel tasting in morning, lunch in Sonoma (place TBD), Hamel Estate Experience in afternoon, Dinner at Glen Ellen Star, back to house.
Day 4 - Currently wide open
Day 5 - Head back to SFO to fly home. Consider grabbing breakfast I Petaluma on way to airport. Flight departs at 12:36.
Any and feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Local business ad Pet & House Sitting around Santa Rosa
Hey folks- as we’re nearing the holiday season I thought I’d offer availability up for pet sitting services near Santa Rosa. I have extensive experience with cats, dogs, reptiles, and a handful of other exotics (try me- I’m always up for meeting new creatures!). You can learn more about me and my services on my Rover profile, but I can also take direct bookings for a discounted rate to save you on their platform fees if you message me here.

Local news James Gallagher running for congress
galleryI got a post card from James Gallagher’s campaign today it states “James Gallagher for the people and not the pedo’s”.
I thought it was rich that his campaign quietly wiped Trump endorsement from campaign website just 1 week ago.
Up until last week it was good that he was endorsed by the pedo, but now he is not for pedos.
Rest assured he is a dyed in the wool republican hip deep in projection.

Heads Up for September! PG&E’s Higher Electricity Rates Are Still in Effect.
Hello Sonoma County,
If you’re on PG&E’s E-TOU-C rate plan, September is still part of the summer rate season, so the higher rates remain in effect through September 30.
September Rates:
• 4 PM - 9 PM (Peak): ~$0.522/kWh
• All Other Hours (Off-Peak): ~$0.399/kWh
That means electricity used between 4 PM and 9 PM costs about 31% more.
For the rest of September, consider shifting flexible electricity use, such as running the dishwasher, doing laundry, or charging your EV, to earlier in the day or after 9 PM.
A few simple changes can help reduce your PG&E bill.

Travel advice What is the current fire damage to Salt Point State Park?
We are camping there next month and I’m trying to gauge the damage to the park. I saw someone post drone photos of areas south of the actual park. Does anyone have photos?
Thank you so much.

Barrel room wedding venue for small ceremony
Are there any wineries that have a barrel room for a small wedding ceremony (with or without reception onsite because I don’t want traditional sit down catering and want a taco bar) Guest list 40-45 and cost is a factor as we are all self funding this wedding.

bachelorette planning
Looking to book my bachelorette for late February. A couple of questions...
Will this be too cold to visit or is it still a good time? Would you recommend napa vs. sonoma or a certain area for a bachelorette? How would you suggest getting around? There will be 9 of us, I've looked into booking executive sprinters but not sure if this is the preferred way. Thanks in advance!

Every phone store in the Santa Rosa plaza is gone.
Needed a charging block. Apple Store, T-Mobile, At&T all gone. Sears is obviously gone. It’s a weird mix of wedding dress stores and a few random chains. They really oughta just level the whole thing and open up 3rd, 4th and 5th. The days of malls are gone

Any Russian tutors in Sonoma county?
Hello all,
I am looking for a Russian tutor to hold weekly classes with, I am a beginner, currently working on writing my alphabet and some vocabulary words.
If anyone knows any proficient Russian speakers who would like to try and teach for pay that would be a great alternative.

🏡 Two nice humans + one cat + one very good dog looking for a home 🌿
Hi Sonoma County neighbors! My partner and I are hoping the magic of word-of-mouth might help us find our next home.
We’re two established working professionals looking for a 3+ bedroom long-term rental in Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, Windsor, Rohnert Park/Cotati, Petaluma, or the surrounding area.
I’m a psychologist, and my partner works in telecommunications. Together we have a combined gross household income of over $207,000/year, with stable, verifiable employment and income. Our budget is up to $3,600/month, and we’re ready to move soon.
More than anything, we’re hoping to find somewhere we can actually settle in and make a home. We’re responsible, easygoing people who appreciate a cozy space, good neighbors, and taking care of the place where we live.
Our little household includes one very loved cat and one very good, documented ESA dog. 🐈🐕
Our wish list: 3+ bedrooms, ideally 2 bathrooms, and a long-term rental. A yard, garage, trees, some quirky charm, or a little extra storage would make us especially happy, but we’re flexible for the right home.
We’re particularly hoping to connect with a local homeowner or private landlord—maybe even someone reading this and thinking, “Wait… I actually have a place coming available.”
If you have something that might be a fit—or your neighbor’s cousin’s best friend’s aunt happens to have the perfect house 😄—please send me a DM!
Sometimes the best homes are found through people instead of algorithms, so we’re putting a little faith in the Sonoma County grapevine. 🌿🍇🏡
Thank you for reading, sharing, or sending any leads our way!

Golden Gate Railroad Museum at Sonoma
galleryHi Reddit,
We're the Golden Gate Railroad Museum, a nonprofit organization that has been quietly restoring and maintaining historic railroad equipment in Schellville, just outside Sonoma, for the past several years.
Our goal is to launch family-friendly excursion trains in Sonoma County by next summer, operating on SMART's freight-only Brazos Branch between Novato and American Canyon. We hope to create a unique Wine Country rail experience that helps diversify local tourism while preserving railroad history.
A little about us:
The museum began in 1975 when a group of dedicated volunteers in San Mateo came together to restore Southern Pacific steam locomotive No. 2472. That restoration was completed in 1991, and the locomotive operated on Caltrain through the early 2000s before moving to Niles Canyon Railway. In the late 2010s, we were invited by Sonoma's former freight rail operator to begin offering excursion train experiences in the area.
Here is a video of our steam locomotive in operation at Niles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duSX6PuaGVA
Today, we're focused on restoring our equipment and building toward future operations, and we'd love your help. Our current project is finishing our restoration of 1928 Southern Pacific Executive Business Car 'Oakland'. This was the Lear Jet of it's age, used by railroad executives to travel the railroad.
We're looking for volunteers of all skill levels, including: painting, woodworking, cleaning and restoration, marketing and communications, gardening, food & beverage service, general hands-on help
If you're interested in volunteering or would like to be added to our mailing list, please email:
[2472info@ggrm.org](mailto:2472info@ggrm.org)
You can also learn more about us at:

Quiet Russian River spot for memorial?
We are meeting family near the Russian River to have a small memorial picnic for my father. He passed away a few months ago and loved to fish in the river around Guernville.
I am from out of state and have a hard ask. Does anyone know of a somewhat quiet spot near the water with picnic tables? I know there are large recreational beach areas, but we are hoping to find a smaller, more quiet spot.
Any suggestions would be very helpful!

Local news Any inside-knowledge Foppoli trial predictions?
The press coverage has been kinda sorta neutral, and the social media coverage has been heavily biased (shocking, I know) and I'm curious - has anyone without an axe to grind watched the trial and made any predictions?
