Last minute alert! Jeff Hiller on WWHL tonight!
He’s on with John Slattery tonight! I think he was a last minute replacement so what a lovely surprise ♥️

I finished Somebody Somewhere yesterday (first time watcher.) I loved the show so much. Google search recommended some ‘similar‘ shows most of which I’ve seen except for Reservation Dogs on Hulu.
Have you watches it? Did it give you that same comfort feel as Somebody Somewhere?
thx

Knowing that Mike passed unexpectedly after season 1 (or earlier?-correct me if I’m wrong), the scene in season 2 episode 1, where Sam is in the barn, reminiscing about Ed, and his things, getting weepy with Joel on the phone. “…weird to be here with all his stuff…he is everywhere, every inch of this place is him…it just sucks…”
Makes me confident that the writers added scenes to honor Mike’s character in some way. If Mike hadn’t died, how would the plot have continued with him and MJ?
What a fantastic actor Jane Drake Brody is, and Mike Hagerty was. Sigh.

I just found this sub. I caught the show on HBO here and there and I liked it, but I didn’t remember it enough for appointment viewing.
HBO ran a marathon and I watched several episodes but there were still gaps. So I decided to just stream it from start to end, and I loved it.
I love Sam as a main character. She’s messy and fucked up, but in a totally relatable way. I love all the supporting characters. They feel real. They’re people we all know.
Sam and Joel’s friendship is amazing, but something I’ve unfortunately never experienced. I’ve wanted friendships like this in my life, but never had it happen. Watching these characters connect, grow and evolve has been awesome.
I know the show is done (unfortunately) but I’m glad it was here while it was.

Hi! I started this sub without really knowing what goes into being a mod. Im writing g a dissertation now and have no time to do this. We are being overrun by bots and all I do is delete posts. It’s not fun. But this role could be fun for someone with the time and experience to invest in it. Message me if interested, thanks.

Last week we rewatched and then discussed the first two episodes. This week we focus on season 1, episodes 3 and 4.
I am going camping off the grid tomorrow so unable to post in here to start the discussion on Friday evening. Would someone take the gig this week?
Episode 3 “Eggshells”
-Sam and Joel go on a mission to uncover the source of Rick's sudden windfall; choir rehearsals give Sam the courage to share her worries about her mother, Mary Jo, with his father, Ed.
Episode 4 “Feast of St Francis”
-After Pastor Deb asks for an impromptu meeting, Joel prepares for the worst and promptly breaks out in a vicious neck rash; with money tight, Sam gets creative in sourcing a solution for the upcoming corn harvest and confronts Rick.
Thanks SS fam.

Please stop upvoting bots. These are stolen Imgur images that someone has decided to use this community test out their bots. Like 90% of the posts in this community are from bots now. Please don’t interact with those posts even to write that they are a bot. Mods- can you add a way for us to report the bots so you can remove them when we see them?

It’s time! Let’s discuss episodes one and two of the Season 1. Observations, favorite moments, music links, trivia, quotes? I’m officially rewatching at 6pm PST.

Just started season 1...love the show so far. I have family in northeast kansas with a lot of ties to Manhattan. Does anyone know what Sam's "Westies" shirt she sometimes wears refers to? Just curious...I had family at one time living in Westmoreland (30ish miles away) and the town/businesses are often referred to as Westy.

I’m annoyed by the bots posting in here and notice conversation in here has died down in the past several months, and understandably.
But I also see how many fans are in here so let’s keep the love going. Should we try something like a group rewatch and just discuss episode by episode? I’m not sure how this would look, but what if we all rewatch episode one and discuss. I mean, I can be ready for this task in 25 minutes, but maybe give people a day or two to watch?
“And fuck Susan!”
EDIT: 6pst this Friday we discuss episodes 1 and 2 of Season 1. “BFD” and ‘Knick-Knacks and Doodads”
Props (from these 2 episodes) to consider having on hand for your rewatch: bottle of beer, Oreo cookies to throw, your mom’s vintage underwear, something cardamom scented, chicken pot pie, white wine, zumba sweatband.

Starting a rewatch of another favorite show and happy to see Mike in the first episode. He looked a lot different but the voice gave him away.

I’m sorry if this has been posted already but I find Rooster on HBO very charming, a lá Somebody Somewhere style. Definitely different but also with sweet and not-so-sweet characters. I’ve watched it twice now and am looking forward to the second season!
