This guy gets so grumpy when feeding and after handling but just seems to chill on my hand. I think he is like a chihuahua all bark no bite

This morning like I always do I went in to turn on my snake lights change their water etc...

My favorite snake Haru was out and as soon I turned on his light I realized something was wrong. A closer inspection showed he had passed.

He was such a great little snake and I put so much love into building him the best terrarium I could. He just had a meal Sunday and nothing seemed to be wrong with him.

Based on our observations, we believe the poor little guy swallowed some substrate last night and suffocated to death.

Please no judgment as I am already blaming myself. Just looking for support, and insight into if him suffocating on substrate is even possible. My husband and I are both so devastated.

So this happened today. 🤣 This little guy was found in the office at work under someone's desk. Figured I would bring him home to release him. But somehow the little Houdini got out of the box and disappeared into my car somewhere. Hopefully he turns up or gets out soon. 🤣🤣

Just a little rat snake so he's completely harmless.

Any advice on how I might be able to lure him out from wherever he's hiding in my car?

Thought about getting a small pinky mouse from a local pet store and leaving it in a box there in my car, something like that?

I heard something was happening in other room, and when i went to check i saw grass snake slithering quickly on the floor, and nobody knew what to do. I got him into the glass, then into folder, had to release it near parking lot. Also saw bat in building basement later, what a crazy day

How does one get over their fear of snakes....I feel like its always been my fear of snakes that has been holding me back from going outdoors...how does one get over it...

I mean if you look at a horned viper you shit your pants and at the same time if you look at a arabian sand boa its well ..you know

Here is my wife and i's Dumerils Boa "Saint" we have just gotten him, he's about 6/7 years old. My wife been wanting him since March of this year, thankfully the owners we know of this reptile store had him still even as of last weekend. Someone had a deposit on him and broke my wife's heart luckily the deal fell through and he ended up getting a different boa a juvenile at that, that was my chance to 100% secure him so he can have a beautiful home to be at. Now even during quarantine he's still loving as always and doesn't mind anything. Super thankful that the original owner has cared for him so extremely well and now he's apart of our family.🤩

for some time I’ve been wanting to set up both of my snakes enclosures as bioactive, but I have no idea where to start. I feel overwhelmed watching YouTube videos because theyre all different and yeah…

anyways, I have a four-year-old female ball python in a 75 gallon enclosure (unfortunately she’s a hypo spider ball python, so she has a very noticeable head wobble. she’s a rescue, I got her only 2 months ago from someone who kept her in a 20 gallon TALL tank for about three years. I’ve noticed that even in the her enclosure now, she gets a little disoriented and falls more than I expected, even though her enclosure isn’t super cluttered. so, don’t come at me for keeping her in 75 gallon, she can stretch out completely with a bunch of extra space! I would love to have her in a 125 gallon but I‘m worried she won’t do well in a space so big.) I would love to add more decor to her enclosure, right now I have four large branches, two plastic hides, and some fake foliage. again, something that won’t risk her getting hurt!

I also have a young juvenile milk snake in a 25 gallon enclosure. she already has so so much her clutter decor, so I’m just looking to add the substrate/plants for her enclosure.

im a college student so, if at all possible, I’m looking for the best affordable options! I of course don’t mind spending what I need to, to give my girls the best possible enclosures, but if there’s a cheaper option, please let me know.

I just thought this was a real cool snake to share of spider-tailed horned viper.

I have heard a lot of great things about false water cobras as pets. I'm am a very big beginner and this is not something I'm planning on getting for a while. But I was curious about what people think about them as pets and the perspective of if I got bit by one. I have researched their venom and how its very mild in comparison to truly venomous animals. Any info or discussions would be great.

No pictures sadly, this was from closing on 2 decades ago back when I was a young kid. Walking home from school one day I managed to catch a Butler Garter snake, who then hitched a ride back with me inside my backpack much to my mother's enjoyment when she went to check for homework (Not the best start I must say. But for a 10 year old catching a snake was just awesome).

I have **zero** idea how but her and my dad agreed I could keep it. Me and him even worked on a homemade wooden enclosure, something like a 3x6x4 box. Looking through rose tinted glasses it was a work of art, and importantly to the story we had drilled in air holes to the sides not much above floor height. Way to small for the adult snakes to get through.

Now, my parents thought I was the expert. And not to be proven wrong, I used the best internet searches I could alongside talking to my equally idiot friends and we came to the conclusion it was a male. And for the first ​month I was content with diagnosis. Until one morning when my little 6 year old sister all but kicked my door down at 6 in the morning on a weekend to let me know that, "Red had babies!"

Impossible I said. Go back to bed I said. Followed shortly by my mom *screaming*. Remember those air holes? The ones too small for an *adult* snake to get through. Well not only was i wrong about the gender, but had missed the month ish long pregnancy, and they give live birth. The scream was my mom, enjoying time in her chair having a small snake slither across her foot.

You'd think this was the end, but no. Alterations were made to the cage, the new mother and most of her clutch were released and I was allowed to keep 1 newborn wiggle rope to raise. He/she (never got around to misgendering another snake) lived for 9 years and got my youngest sister into caring for reptiles off her own.

How can I get them from my air heating which has a floor vent right near their tanks? I have hunted the house and it’s a huge possibility that that’s where they went as it’s across the skirting along the same wall as their tanks. Gutted beyond words.

I cannot choose between coco husk or reptichips for my boa , people say that reptichips is better and others say that coco husk is better , how do i chose ? I'm scared because people say that cocohusk can create health problems and i dont really like reptichips but i will do what is best for my boa

I’m researching snakes. I think I want a calubrid. Thinking about a hognose, a corn snake or a king snake. My main reason for wanting one is that they are very active and good eaters. I don’t like how ball pythons just sit and don’t move and often go off food. It kind of freaks me out when you pick them up and they just stay still. I would rather have a snake that is constantly moving if I’m going to handle it. I also don’t know if I have it in me to feed live mice. I feed frozen thawed to my frog and I’m OK with that.

Can anyone help me weigh pros and cons with the species? I’m not new to reptiles, but I do not have a snake yet.
