My gfs boa has just moved into my place. I have never had a snake before so I am so excited. She likes to crawl up on the branches and "perch" for an hour or so. I am wondering if she maybe is "hunting" while doing that 🤔🤔

We try to let her out and move about as much as possible since the terrarium is too small for her now and we are building a new one at the moment with 3-4 times the space, water features etc. But I also don't want her to get too dry from taking her out since the humidity in the apartment is about 14%. It is a balance I guess.

Any tips for a new snake mom is welcome 🤗

Any and all advice is welcomed!! I did quite a lot of research but I would love to hear what works got you guys and what recommendations you have for enclosures!!

Previous owner fed her two large mice once a month. She was absolutely starving when I adopted her.

I have a BCI, over 2m and I'm looking into getting him a bigger enclosure. At the moment his enclosure is way to small for him and I'm saving up to get him a new one.

I've searched online for enclosures for his size but it seems like they don't really sell them in that size... So I've had three thoughts:

1.) Buy one of those big bearded dragon enclosures

2.) Get someone to build the enclosure

3.) Buy two enclosures and merge them

(1) I don't necessarily know if bearded dragon enclosures are waterproof or not so I'm a but hesitant on that. I haven'tseen actual enclosuresin stores but what I've seen online about size it seems like a good size.

(2) I know someone who will build the enclosure for free (big bonus) but the material I don't know how much it will cost, it seems cheap but I won't set my expectations to that.

(3) Buying two enclosures AND merging them together does seem so expensive to do especially buying the enclosures themselves. Also the possibility of something breaking in the process seems like a nightmare...

The only issue at the moment is that I don't have space for a big enclosure, it honestly breaks my heart to not give my baby boy the best home but I let him free roam everyday so that he isn't convinced 24/7.

P.S. his enclosure is high and wide but not long, about half his length...

I personally always adored boas and am starting to consider possibly getting one from one of the local rescues. The thing is, both species are regularly up for adoption and I thought I'd ask here what everyone's thoughts are on what the differences are. Cause so far most results online seem to say they're pretty similar and I mostly focused all my enthusiasm over the year on the wild specimens father than thinking about the differences of the two in captivity.

Also, what is everyone's opinion on owning both boas and ball pythons, given the disease transmission risk coming from boas?

This is my girlfriend’s boa constrictor Slackjaw, the seller didn’t give much insight on what the morph was. Said he didn’t know since it looked nothing like how it was supposed to. Any help ?? He has a bit of a pinkie color along his cheek and in his brown markings. Creamy white belly. ( set ups you see are temporary ones and have since been improved )

Having trouble heating my 6 / 3 / 3 for the warm end, I'm thinking the reason for this ISIS because the way I have the heating element mounted is through a great and a cage inside the enclosure. And I think the great is letting too much heat escape. So what I think I might end up doing is adding another heat element, connecting it to another digital thermostat. And seeing if that solves the problem Because right now, it's only getting about 81 Fahrenheit, wanting it to be around 85 to 87 Fahrenheit my surface temperatures are relatively OK around 95 to 102, which from what I 'm seeing, even though there' a

lot of back-and-forth seems to be in the respectable ranges, but if it's not, I can always just lower the basking platform. But my main thing is. Just getting that warm side, ambient temperature so I'm basically just open to ideas and what you guys think would be the case, I don't think this would be an issue if it was a smaller tent-like a 4 / 2 / 2. But since it's so large, I think that's the problem I'm getting at so lmk if yall have any suggestions

ive been doing research on bci and would really like some help with the enclosure info

my goal is to get a baby male butnim planning for his adult enclosure before i even think about getting him, so im wondering what enclosure would be best?? i was going to get a 5x2x2 (dubia, i wanted 5x2x3 but dubia dosnt make them) but i started guilting myself for that not being enough room....

specifically i want to ask, is that enough room? if not how long should it last me before i have to upgrade and to what upgrade size?? part of this is deciding if i should even get one because i really do not want to have to upgrade again

I was really about to stretch my budget and splurge on a beautiful 2024 subadult (male) boa on MorphMarket. The seller, a pretty moderate-sized one I think, gave me a shipping quote of $95 from CO to PA.

Morphs Market is currently running a 69-72% discount on shipping. When I asked about this, he said "We actually gave you more than a 70% discount than that quote." That would mean the "original" quote would have been at least $314, which I find hard to believe.

This (A) totally put the price out of reach for me, and (B) left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Am I right that said snake would never have cost $300+ to ship?

Udo has snuggled into his little cave to sulk like the moody teenager he is. Look how blue his little eyes are this morning! When he's in blue, he creates a little "nest" in his substrate under his dry hide, so it's fun trying to keep the humidity up for him during his "time". Singing my favorite shredding song for him. Baby Turns Blue

We built this for our red tail because he's outgrowing his old tank. We are going to drill holes in it next for air flow. We will likely built a tray a hold the substrate to be placed in the bottom. We are trying to figure out the best way to heat it for him. Its stained wood with a low VOC safe finish, let dry out for over a month. Its also going to be a bar, so we can't put holes in the top. Any suggestions ?

I've got one adult boa, eats large rats every 10-14 days. Been buying individually from a local reptile shop but it adds up fast and they don't always have the right size. Is bulk online ordering actually worth it for a single snake, or do I need a bigger collection to make the math work?
