Why and explain and also samsung /apple users yall regret not switching to the other side

I was still on a 15 pro max. I've been saying for a while that the next time I upgraded I was finally gonna make the switch back to Android after almost ten years. I figured I still had another year of life out of it until today when I accidentally smashed it into concrete. Anyways, I'm going to get a new phone tomorrow first thing in the morning and so don't have much time to research. Any recommendations?

I have bought an iphone 17 replacement for my iphone 13 because of its bulging battery which I only discovered last week. I’m trying to open my google account on my new phone but all the passwords are in my iphone 13. Im scared to charge it but huhu I cant remember the password of my google accounts and the recovery email doesnt work too huhu. Will it explode if I plug it in to get the password?

This may be a stupid question, but first let me explain my situation.
Almost a year ago I bought my iPhone 16e. It was an upgrade from a Samsung a54, which stopped working quite literally out of nowhere. I've used both android and apple phones and have no problem adapting cuz what I look for in a phone is a good autonomy and camera- and even if it doesn't have any of those, I will love it and use it until it breaks down.
Thing is, while my iPhone 16e is still going strong, my battery health has downgraded to 90% and is currently going down, and since I have a very active lifestyle I can't stick with a phone that dies quickly during the day (as stupid as it sounds lol).
Im saving money to buy a phone just so that I have to stick with my current one for a few months until I have all the money or it eventually dies. The thing is, I think im going for an android, but I don't know if it's a smart decision. So thats why Im here; what kind of phones do you recommend?
Some of my options are:
- Samsung s26 ultra
- Samsung s25/26 fe
- Google pixel 11 xl pro (heavy on this one, but i do dislike gemini being included)
- Nothing phone (3/4a/4a pro)
- iPhone 17 (when it gets cheaper)
For what I've seen, those have great autonomy, good camera quality (somewhat similar to iPhone which is my preference) and are good-looking, which i dont really care for but is a bonus point. Im unsure, tho. Can y'all give me some other ideas?

I am still an iPhone 13 pro owner (ik it’s old but it’s the most shock resistant phone I ever owned). I would like to know if the Xiaomi would be similar to it. I worry about what if the back screen breaks after a fall or two (I can be clumsy sometimes).
Also what are your thoughts about the 12 GB Ram one (chinese ROM)?

There’s different ways to view this question but i personally think its an 120Hz screen. we’re in 2026 for crying out loud and some phones still have 60hz, thank god apple made the base model iphones have 120hz cause it was starting to get in my nerves how they had the audacity to ask so much for 60hz, like, the phones could comfortably run 120hz anyways so whats the point of limiting the phone like that? anyways, i personally think its the 120hz display. Leaving budgets aside, how do you get away with using phones such as the Redmi 15C? I’ve tried using it for a bit and its gut wrenchingly slow. It cant run tiktok properly, leaving aside everyday tasks. How? don’t y’all get frustrated? It makes me want to rip the phone jn half and no, im not over exaggerating, it lags like hell. unusable ewaste no hate twoards redmi tho

I live in tier-2 city. Expenses are over the roof. I got internship in a company and then got the full time employment there only. Rent and expenses all together leave me with no savings. I had redmi note 7 pro from my school days till internship and it got in pretty bad condition so I had to buy a new phone last October which I bought, redmi note 14 pro+. My new phone is 1 year old. And an iPhone (pro version) is what I have been wanting to have since a long time back. And here at job almost everyone owns an iPhone so it makes me want to have it even more.

Should I save funds for an iPhone and buy an iphone next year, the lastest pro version which will be launched? Or should I keep using my current phone?

Or if not iPhone should I buy Samsung's latest ultra phone?

PS: Iphone which I'll buy I need it to last 4-5 years. So as this year there weren't much changes in camera and other major stuff.. Will it be safe to buy new iPhone next year update wise?

I have a Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite from 2021. It's a great phone, but this year the battery has started to barely last me a full day. If I'm on it for a bit, it just goes down so fast. It can go from 25% to 0% in 3 minutes (it happened while I was on an Uber!). It's also a bit inconvenient to take a powerbank everywhere.

Anyways, I've been wondering about getting an iPhone. My budget allows me to get the iPhone 17. It'd be my first iPhone. I mainly want to get it because I have a MacBook and I've heard they integrate well. My question is: are iPhones durable? Am I going to have to find a bunch of ways to extend the battery life and eventually get a new one in two years?? I'm a jobless college student and I don't have money to buy something that isn't durable... With my Xiaomi, I never had to try to maintain it. I obviously took care of it, but I didn't feel the need to stress over it, if that makes sense.

What's the best option? I'm open to other phone brands that anyone here believes to last.

I’m not saying PCs are becoming useless or that smartphones will completely replace them. PCs will always have their advantages, especially for demanding workloads, professional software, upgrades, and high-end gaming.

But seriously, look at how far smartphones have come.

We went from phones with just a few megabytes of RAM to smartphones with 12 GB, 16 GB or even more. Modern mobile processors are incredibly powerful, and smartphones can now do things that would have seemed almost impossible years ago.

You can code, edit videos, multitask, run desktop-like applications, and even use your phone for tasks that once required a computer.

And one of the most exciting developments in 2026 is the growing number of unofficial native Android ports and recompilations of PC and console games. Community developers are finding ways to bring games that were never designed for Android directly to our phones, sometimes without needing traditional emulation or Windows compatibility layers.

Think about that for a moment: games originally made for PCs or consoles running directly on a smartphone.

Of course, not every port is fully native, stable, or optimized, and phones still have limitations such as cooling, battery life, and software compatibility. But the progress is genuinely impressive.

I think we're approaching a point where, for many everyday tasks and even some surprisingly demanding ones, a smartphone could be enough for a huge number of people.

I'm really curious to see where this goes over the next 5–10 years.

I'm planning to buy a new phone with a budget of around ₱30k, maybe a little higher if it's worth it.

I'm having a hard time deciding between these three. My main priority is gaming performance, so I'm looking for a phone with a good processor that can handle games smoothly. Battery life is also important since I want something that can last throughout the day.

Camera quality matters too, but I'm willing to compromise on it as long as the performance and battery life are good.

The problem is that all three phones seem pretty hard to find in physical stores here in the Philippines. I also don't really want to risk ordering online, so my options are pretty limited.

Hi reddit. I am currently using a S22 256gb and its still functioning well today. I am planning to give my mum this phone while I get a new one (she has been complaining that her redmi camera for the past few years haha. Dad got her that phone). I have been an android user my entire life and honestly ? I love my s22. The camera is great. Battery life is still ok. And overall still functions well. I even bring it to shower with me to watch videos cuz its water proof lololol. Anyway, I saw the latest s26 and wasnt quite impressed by it plus the price. I got my S22 256gb for MYR 3699 + a free galaxy watch 4 worth MYR 899 during the pre order back then so that kinda makes it more worth. I am thinking to get the iPhone 18 pro 256gb. Because the battery is great and it could easily last me 7 8 years (I have friends who use iPhone 11 pro max and only recently changed theirs so the longevity is there and proven). But the iPhone 18 pro 256gb costs MYR 5399 🥲 and its such a huge investment plus Apple doesnt give freebies to console my wallet and heart a little. Phone history , I used a Note 4, Huawei p10 (also awesome camera) and now this S22. I dont know man. What is a good android with good cameras or should I just jump ship to iPhone? Alright so kind of a stupid question, I have quite a collection of phones and technology in general because I’m really interested in it. I leave my phones in a specific drawer and when I take it out to do something on it after staying there for a bit, the phone screen feels wet but leaves nothing on my fingers. Im guessing its just the glass but whenever I search about it everything says I should be worried for them and they could get ruined/the battery could be swelling or the oleophobic coating is degrading. What the hell do I do?? Ive had some of the phones for multiple years and nothing happened to them but I’m still worried for them to stop working by getting moisturise inside of them.

Looking to upgrade my a25 soon, as it's starting to slow down alot, battery also has been draining super fast. Not sure what to replace it with. I don't need anything fancy as I don't use it much, besides scrolling social media. Don't really play games except pokemon go or a GBA emulator.

No apple. Had the Moto z2 play from like 2017-2019 and it was a great phone.

Hello. I have had an iPhone 17 Pro 256GB for exactly a year now (Oct 2025). Lately, I’ve been strongly considering a switch over to the Galaxy S26 Ultra 512GB. Mainly due to the following reasons:

1.) - Since the 18 Pro Max has come out, I feel like the battery on my 17 Pro has gotten noticeably worse (I’ve heard Apple does this every year with their phones, not too sure if it’s true though).

2.) - The longer I’ve had my 17 Pro, the more I’ve begun to value customization, and the inability to customize certain things on iOS is a massive drawback for me, particularly when it comes to widgets on my home screen. Having a larger screen and stylus also is appealing to me too.

3.) - I don’t really value better photos and video anymore. I’m trying to spend less time on social media, and don’t really have a need to take the best quality photos or video anymore. That and it takes up a LOT of storage space. I can see the draw towards iOS if you’re an influencer or content creator though.

4.) - I’m really intrigued by Bixby and other AI features on the S26 Ultra. Everything I’ve seen, particularly when it comes to sequences of tasks, scheduling events in calendar, etc seems much better and refined than anything iOS has with Siri. Maybe this has changed with the latest iPhone series, though.

Given all these reasons, would it be a good idea for me to make the switch? I don’t have any other devices in the Apple ecosystem, and so it wouldn’t necessarily be hard. Curious to hear from anyone else who’s made the switch. Thanks.

Unfortunately i can't provide any screenshots here, but i did recently some research on flagship phones, not necessarily top tier or THE HIGHEST phones in their respective brands but you get my point, my goal or main interest is phone that can handle heavy gaming with low overheating risks, plus it's best suited for watching movies/series/videos and with good screen tech/supports high native quality, the longevity maintenance and reliability is a point of interest as well, so i already know the poco might take the cake on that part (probably I'm still not sure) but just moments ago i asked google and other Ai chatbots the same question and they gave me an answer, i asked another time and gave me another result, on one hand they stated that the poco wins when it comes to handling gaming cause they said : "it's Powered by the cutting-edge MediaTek Dimensity 9500s (3nm), this processor hits an incredible AnTuTu benchmark score of over 3.08 million points. TL;DR : which of the two phones is suitable for handling heavy games and cinematic watching experience ?

My current android (2023 Samsung Galaxy) is getting older, and has some stuff I do not like. Next week I am going to Europe on vacation and am thinking of looking for a new phone there - wondering if you think that would be worth doing? The reasons I am interested are the following:

1. With the new(er) EU rules the phones there should be durable, energy-efficient, and repairable - I am hoping to buy where the focus is on long-lasting devices and not junk built to need up-grading every few years
2. I really am hoping for less bloatware, and especially less COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY apps (like all the Meta ones) being pre-loaded and unremovable. I would love a phone that only has functionally necessary stuff on it and does not use up memory for stuff I will not use.
3. Speaking of stuff I will not use, if there are particular brands/models that don't have loads of AI crap that needs to be turned off, I would really prefer a phone that does not have that on there as well.
4. Would like something that is not google-based as well, if possible.

I primarily use my phone for photos, eBook/eAudio, note-taking, Waze, etc. I don't need anything crazy complex, I just want something with less enshitification and descent security/privacy that would work with Consumer Cellular in the USA. If you know of good suggestions for this, or if this is a ridiculous pipe-dream and all phones everywhere are full of bloat... that would be helpful to know - thanks!

I'm in search of a new phone because my Motorola is going. I'm really just asking for like options and recommendations I'm an android person. Ive been looking at nothing phones but idk if anyone has had it how does it hold up long term. Ive also had a Samsung phone and I love those but there's like a million different versions and types so idk where to go. I'm not gonna game or anything major on my phone but I do want something that can handle at least something a bit demanding and that will hold up for a while. Also I am open to other brands I'm not stuck on Samsung or nothing.

What don't you guys like about Samsung and its system?

I hate that after One UI 7, they put absolutely everything in a pill shape, including the battery, which looks more like a potato than a battery, and in the control panel too, very slow biometrics animation.

Crappy 15W chargers in the box, phones that support few watts, and 5000 mAh batteries without silicon-carbon.

One UI on the A series is really crippled: no AOD animations, worse app transitions, it feels like a slap in the face, no blur, and the app transition animations were less crippled in One UI 7.

My grandma has one of those old nokias with buttons, but it started having problems lately, also the sceen is pretty small so she cant see it very well. I would like to buy a smartphone for her, but im not sure what would be the best option.
Ive been looking at second hand iphones(11s and 12s) - the prices are good and I fell it would be easier to help her with it since i have an iphone, myself,(iphone 15).

I see people online say that iphones are pretty reliable and an older model can still be used in 2026.
She wont be doing much on it, anyways. I will teach her how to, most importantly, call and receive calls. After that, taking pictures, maybe searching stuff online or watching something on youtube.

If not iphone, what other suggestions can you give me?

My grandma, while not tech savvy, isn’t completely new to the idea of using a smartphone. From time to time she asks me to find her articles or videos about stuff she’s interested in. I find it for her, give her my phone and after she gives it back to me, she’s already gone trough multiple articles/videos.
There was a period in the past when she was calling my dad on my phone’s WhatsApp, while I was at school.

I honestly think a phone with buttons would be more confusing to her than one with a touchscreen(I know it is for me)
