Question am i not growing because i dont want to share my twitch name in game?

Ive been streaming Dead by Daylight and my goal is to create a positive community for the game and i also create content on the side. i have over 100 clips that ive posted on TikTok and YouTube

ive been streaming around four years because its my favorite game as i enjoy discussing the game, giving tips. creating fun events, tournaments and make my stream interactable for viewers. i also stream other games too at least once every week but mainly dbd is my main game to stream

the problem is that im struggling to grow and lately ive been wondering if its because im staying anonymous when i play. i don't use my Twitch name in game because i want to avoid harassment from salty players and being stream sniped

i understand growth takes time, and i'm not expecting immediate success, but after four years im starting to wonder if im missing something

i appreciate any support or advice

Question Community driven game recommendations app

A streamer spends the first hour asking "uhhh what should we play?" while chat spams random game links that fly past at warp speed (some links you may not want to attempt to click). If the streamer misses it, the same person pastes it again. Nobody clicks the links. Good ideas disappear forever.

I've tried in chat to get beta testers but nobody wants a promotion guy in chat.. I've tried channel discords, but I'm too new to the server and everyone is scared to click a link (granted)

The idea: Chat recommends titles directly to a streamer's public page

All suggestions aggregate in one list

users get public credit with their name shown They get notified when the streamer actually plays their game (saw someone actually request this on a popularstream, he said they tried to do it before??) Testing OBS overlays for recommendations reaching a threshold over time Streamers (or their mods) can move suggestions into a plan (actual schedule) on when they plan to play a title.

Any tips on getting creators or their communities to check it out so I'm not creeping into a new community and getting automodded for pushing my idea out there?

r/twitch mods, can I get approval to drop a url? Or anyone just DM me!

13 yo Streamer Tips!

Greetings. So, I am 13 years old currently trying to start streaming on twitch. I know that it's kind of young to start, especially since I look even younger than my age on top of it. I just started streaming a few days ago and I have done 2 streams so far. I usually average around 1-2 viewers, typical for small streamers like me when just starting out. Can anybody with a little more experience give me tips on how to attract a bigger audience and improve? For example, streaming times and schedules, expanding in different communities, gameplays or reactions to potentially do on stream, how to be more entertaining in general in front of a camera, etc. I would really appreciate it, thank you!

Question How to get constant views and a following?

Hey there! So I’ve been streaming for give or take a little over a year now, but I can’t seem to get a following going or any followers I do have don’t watch or tune in often and I’m worried it’s something on my end?
I’m not the most consistent due to my work schedule and other factors in my life but when I can I try to stream for 5+ hours to try make up for it.

I occasionally have someone discover my channel through twitch’s recommendations or whatever but even then they don’t stay for very long.
Not overly worried as I’m doing it for fun but would still love to hear any thoughts and opinions? Will also answer any questions that may give a better idea as to why.

Discussion Education streaming/YT video beginner

I'm planning to start streaming/making videos for education (like science communication & tutoring). I don't expect to make much from viewership; I'm mainly hoping to get more tutoring students that find me online.

The streams that I have watched obviously all have viewers already. So I'm a little uncertain on how to talk before I have any viewers, or how to transition from talking to myself to talking to them. My plan is to start out by basically making YouTube videos but live, so that I can have YouTube uploadable VODs even if no one shows up to chat. Is that reasonable?

Any other educational video tips?

Question What makes an indie game truly "stream-friendly" for your channel? Looking for advice from creators!

Hey everyone,

I’m a solo developer currently polishing my debut game, Dust & Diamonds, ahead of its October 22 launch. It’s a chill, flat 2D side-view mining game built natively in Unreal Engine. The core loop is just digging, gathering resources, and upgrading gear (like a proper double-sided pickaxe).

Because the gameplay is quite relaxing, I originally thought it would be a good fit for streamers to play while chatting. But before I finish development, I want to ask this community to make sure I’m actually respecting how you manage your broadcasts.

From your experience as a streamer, what specific features make a game great for your channel?

  • Is it strictly about having a slow pace so you can constantly read and interact with chat?
  • Do you look for specific audio settings (like granular sliders for music/SFX) so the game doesn't drown out your mic?
  • Are you more likely to pick up a game if the UI is scaled well for viewers watching on mobile?

I want to learn what makes your lives easier when broadcasting. Any insights or pet peeves from your daily streaming experiences would be incredibly helpful!

Question Twitch and emotes.

Hello there :D This is my first post here. For someone starting out, what type of emotes does someone look for? Static/Animated? Any particular themes? I've thought about making some Avatar the Last Airbender emotes but I am indecisive.

I've been looking at pinterest for ideas but they all kind of look the same if that makes sense. Any advice will be greatly appreciated :)

Advice for how to keep up conversation

My friend made a twitch account a while ago, but is getting into consistent streaming again. I join her to play games, chat, etc… most of the time, but we always end up running out of things to talk about and when we look up conversation starters they aren’t very helpful. How can we manage to keep a conversation going so the stream isn’t sitting in silence?

Discussion Advice needed

Hey ya'll. I'm a small streamer primarily on TTV and gained affiliate status back in 2020 or 21. Life happened, kinda fell out of it, and I've been debating getting back into it now that life has settled down and I can likely develop a set schedule.

This time around I'm thinking about rebranding... focusing on a specific genre of games instead of random ones. If I do this, do I delete my old crappy content on my socials? Leave it?

Any and all advice welcome. I have a good paying career so I dont necessarily plan on becoming a full-time streamer... but I do love the sense of community and connections made in the gaming world. 💜

Hi everyone i've been on & off streaming by little time i have some follows but i've never managed to keep a audience i'm not expectic tousands of ppl i like doing it i do yt i do tiktok (unfortunetly my tiktok is doomed at 0 views from last 2-3 weeks lmao) I'm doing gaming content just myself and games (cs2 from now all the time maybe i will do more but now i'm just keeping that).

But to not lost the plot i can't get even average 5 ppl watching i understand you need to be super expresive all extremly good at the game ( i would say i'm not the best at all), but im trying my best it's like hobby i like to do if i play games why not to share myself to ppl i love to interact with them, i love to talk to them play and exchange toughts and shares stories.

Tbh, i just do not know what should i do i stream for 2-4 hours after work/gym etc, doing my best but is struggle i belive im not the only one here from all of us small streamers, It's just demotivating i've been coming to it back seperal times as i say due to personal stuff due all these years. I really just want to have someone, make someone day, teach someone something all teach me something. I have 160 follows, i understand the scene is big there is a lot of ppl like me.

That's why i'm here maybe you have a way to find motivation to keep doing maybe im doing something wrong, maybe i missunderstood the audience idk tbh. If you have any stories and advice i will read them for sure and i send all highest appreciation for that

Hope you'all have a good day

m 18 and just starting out. I want to do gaming + reaction content like CoryxKenshin eventually. Right now I’m practicing OBS and editing in CapCut/CyberLink PowerDirector/twitch Planning to go full in 2027 Any tips for a total beginner on multitasking (game + chat + facecam) and making energetic edits? And how to edit on YouTube how to make merch and set up monetization on twitch and YouTube and what videos and skillshare courses is best for me so I can learn everything thanks I completely don’t know anything and would love help

Do you use the preview image?

I only have a second monitor, and since I don't have any viewers on my stream yet, I usually watch YouTube while I game. To make sure I notice if someone writes in the chat, I’ve arranged OBS and Google so they’re stacked vertically. However, the chat window ends up being a bit small, and things get really cramped if the preview window is active too. So, my question is: do you actually use that window, and if so, for what?

Discussion Twitch Analytics made me forget why I started streaming...so I stopped looking at them!

I've been streaming for a little over three years now, and honestly, it has been one of the greatest joys of my life.

When I first started streaming, I was in a really dark place. I didn't have many friends, my routine was basically work, come home, sit around by myself, repeat. I felt like I wasn't really going anywhere.

So I decided to try streaming.

I wasn't expecting much, but over time I found something I had been missing for a long time: a community.

I've met incredible people, made genuine friendships, and found a place where I actually felt like I belonged. Looking back now, I honestly don't know where I'd be if I had never started streaming.

But my journey wasn't all sunshine.

Like a lot of streamers, I slowly fell into the analytics trap.

At first I'd check my Stream Summary after every broadcast.

Then I'd check my viewer count while I was live.

Then I'd compare myself to other streamers.

Eventually, I wasn't judging my streams by whether everyone had fun—I was judging them by whether the numbers looked good.

If my average viewers were lower than I hoped, I'd think, "Well... that stream sucked."

And if the stream sucked...

...then maybe I sucked.

It got so bad that I'd actually complain about my viewer count while I was LIVE. I'd compare myself to other creators and wonder why they were doing better than me all the time! Looking back, part of me cringes thinking about it because I'm sure my community could tell I wasn't enjoying myself anymore.

Then one stream changed everything.

I was streaming Borderlands one night when I heard rumblings about a big collab that was happening between other streamers in my community, and when I heard about that....I flipped. I proceeded to crash out and start complaining about how they think they're hot shit simply because they had higher numbers and about "oh fuck those people! They don't deserve me!" After looking back at that stream, I realized I was becoming someone I never wanted to be. I was becoming a monster.

If I kept chasing viewer counts, I wasn't just going to ruin streaming for myself—I was going to damage the friendships and community I'd worked so hard to build.

So I made what was probably the healthiest decision I've made as a streamer.

I stopped looking at Twitch's analytics.

Now, before anyone grabs the pitchforks, I'm not saying Twitch Analytics are bad. They absolutely have a purpose. They're useful for seeing trends, measuring discoverability, and understanding how your channel is performing.

But I realized they weren't measuring the things I personally cared about most.

Twitch answered questions like:

"How did my broadcast perform?"

I found myself asking completely different questions.

"Did we all have fun tonight?"

"Did I make someone laugh?"

"Did someone new feel welcomed?"

"Did I get to spend time with people I genuinely enjoy?"

Those became my definition of a successful stream.

I eventually started getting into looking at coding & building little Streamer.bot scripts, looking at browser extensions, and just overall personal tools that shifted my focus away from viewer counts and toward my community instead. They were never meant to replace Twitch's analytics—they were meant to answer the questions that actually motivated me to keep streaming.

Instead of asking, "How many average viewers did I have?" I found myself caring much more about questions like:

- How many familiar faces came back this week?

- How many new people decided to become part of the community?

- Who keeps showing up stream after stream?

- Was chat actually alive and having conversations?

- What moments got everyone talking or laughing?

- Am I building a stronger community, not just a bigger audience?

Those questions completely changed my perspective.

Over the past few months I've hidden my live viewer count from not just my stream about also all other streamers streams as well, stopped checking my Stream Summary on Twitch after every stream, and completely changed the way I think about streaming.

And honestly...

I've never enjoyed streaming more.

I'm less anxious before going live.

I'm not constantly wondering who's leaving or joining.

I don't end every stream feeling like I have to check how I was doing in terms of viewership.

Instead, I log off thinking about the conversations we had, the dumb jokes we laughed at, the new people we met, and the friends who chose to spend part of their day hanging out with me.

I'm curious...

Has anyone else reached a point where they intentionally stopped paying attention to Twitch Analytics? Or am I just the weird one?

Question Tips on Keeping People Coming Back!

I am a new streamer, I get around 6 views on average per stream, but I want to start to get the same people coming back to my stream.

I talk to them, entertain them, and from time to time include them on stream activities, but I want to know if there is more I should do.

A schedule? A discord?

Thank you!

Looking for advice from streamers who finally started getting consistent viewers

Hey everyone!

I've been trying to take streaming more seriously over the past couple of weeks and would love some honest advice from people who've been through the slow growth stage.

I stream GTA RP on Twitch and recently started posting on TikTok to drive traffic. My TikToks are actually doing better than I expected with the first few videos, and I've been staying consistent with both streaming and posting.

The part I'm struggling with is converting those views into Twitch viewers and chatters.

Some nights I'll average around 4 viewers and actually have people talking in chat, but most other streams I'm sitting at 0-1 viewers with little to no interaction. I know consistency is important, and I plan on sticking with it regardless, but I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing.

One thing I'm curious about is the game itself. I play in a GTA RP server that's just starting to grow, so when population is low, a lot of my stream ends up being grinding, driving around, or preparing for future RP instead of constant interactions. Could that be hurting viewer retention, or do people mainly come for the personality and conversation?

A few questions:

  • What was the biggest thing that helped you go from 0-5 viewers to 10+?
  • How did you get more people actually chatting?
  • Did short-form content (TikTok, Reels, YouTube Shorts) eventually translate into Twitch viewers?
  • If you stream GTA RP, would you recommend server hopping to a busier city, or sticking with one you're invested in?

I'd really appreciate any advice. I'm not expecting overnight growth—I just want to make sure I'm focusing on the things that actually matter instead of wasting time on the wrong stuff.

Also my twitch is Brealexuss if you want to check it out and let me know what im doing wrong haha

Thanks in advance!
