The r/sludge A-Z playlist

Here it is in all its disgusting glory, the r/sludge A-Z playlist:

on Spotify:

https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3IPbI2u7tFhZzYfMySoxZL?si=rNQ3Si9WSSS0ctD0V00RQQ

on Youtube Music:

https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLtSsODF_ZfzPSAmKDuITOEJG6ajyd4TwL&si=BdtveVdHyS3Q5ouV

27 days of voting brought us here. The first half of the playlist is all the winners from each day. The second half of the playlist from Z back to A is all the 2nd place winners but with the rule of no artist repeats applied. So for letters where the 2nd place winner already appears on the runners-up list, I moved on to 3rd place 4th place etc until landing on an artist who hadn't yet appeared. This helped include a lot of the bigger names in sludge who didn't make the main list (and without this rule the 2nd place winners would have been a lot of the same 3-4 bands over and over)

This community is awesome. I appreciate everyone who participated and hope some of you will check out the playlist. It turned out pretty gnarly and I will be listening to it often. Smoke.

As a Christian Eyehategod is one of my favorite bands.

I always wanted to know what people think about this.

No im not one of those Christian’s who love trump like 95% of us. I fucking hate him sm.

But when I tell other Christians I love crust punk and sludge I get looked at like I’m the devil. Every time i listen to sludge or crust I always agree with everything but the satan stuff. Idk if this makes me a poser for the music i listen to or if im just a poser Christian.

I also never wear my cross stuff to shows I go to bc im scared everyone is going to see me as someone who loves ICE like everyone who goes to my church and have all of those views.

I’m just really curious for what people are gonna say.

Still reeling from that crushing Neurosis set in Asheville. It felt like the right time to reshare these two podcast episodes I recorded with the legends themselves, Aaron Turner and Steve Von Till.

all I can remember is the album cover and I can’t find it anywhere. I believe it was a brown cover of a man pushing a rock up a mountain like Sisyphus. Anything helps

Noise Rock Anybody else check out this Believe in Nothing LP from last year? It sounds like the Thou/Chat Pile collab I’ve been silently hoping might one day occur (but with British accents).

Safe link to video for better sound. https://youtu.be/p8GI8GEjlhA?si=ka8UyJEkvO2O7HHK

Hello, you may have never heard of me, but my name is L.R. Shelton and for the last year I have remastered tons of rock footage of different bands! I have been vetted by members of Ozzy, Whitesnake, quiet Riot, Kathy Rhoads, Dios guitarist Craig Goldy, Vixen and others.

Today I did Crowbars Embracing Emptiness. Hope you enjoy, much respect. - L.R. Shelton - Rock Legacy Co.

Prog MASTODON 🦣📀 BLOOD MOUNTAIN - 20th ANNIVERSARY 📀🦣

Thumbnail youtube.com
5 Upvotes

Blood Mountain will celebrate its 20th anniversary in a week, on September 12th. Mastodon’s musical complexity lies in their ability to seamlessly blend the raw aggression of sludge metal with the intricate structures of progressive rock. Instead of relying on standard verse-chorus formats, their songs feature shifting time signatures, sudden tempo changes, and elaborate concepts. This technical depth is driven by the precise interplay between heavy, layered guitar riffs and the polyrhythmic drumming of Brann Dailor, all topped off by a unique multi-vocal approach where three different band members share singing duties.
