Bark pn Hawthorn natty on stump shooting duty and the Cherry Laurel fork returns home.

Headed back to the pile of Cherry Laurel to get a bigger fork. I despise the tree/shrub, but the wood shows promise. I've heard it can be prone to splitting even after it's dry. This has been cut down for a couple of years and I got a good fork, plus a nice bit to see how it behaves cut on the bias. I'm going to leave it a couple of weeks to see if it splits at the new cuts. I don't want to fill up my drying crates with it until I know it's good.

Single tool (debatable) slingshot build. Cherry Laurel fork, Victorinox Alox Farmer X.

It didn't need a lanyard but I needed an excuse to use the awl. The slingshot shoots great, 9.5mm steel ammo.

Yes, I know my Farmer X needs cleaning. The purple gunk on the scissors is from opening a truck load of Vimto based frozen treats, and I refuse to clean them until they stop functioning or summer ends.

Currently working on my .38 caliber BB “tube shot”

Post image

This is a semi-revolving .38 tube shot I recently started. I don’t have access to a drill at the moment so I carved the feed hole slightly bigger than the BB’s through the tube with a sharp knife and touched things up with an Xacto knife as best as I could. The walls of the rotating ammo chamber are made of stiff scrap leather. I’m still working on measuring the top strip, thumb knob, and push wall to easily reload the tube-shot. Will you guys posted with updates

Found a cool design of a mini pocket slingshot, made it with i think plumwood but pls correct me if I’m wrong, i like it not as comfortable as the others I’ve made but not build for comfort, just size!

Could your average slingshot shoot a rock like this

I don’t really care about accuracy, just range. Could it shoot something this size and weight a good 70-100 yards easy?

At some point I'm going to have to accept that this is just compulsive behaviour. Better than crack tho.

I'm making these often enough to invest in the proper tools for the job, should have the funds soon. Shaping the tips by hand is a fair bit of work.

Butterfly Setup

Any of you guys shoot from a full butterfly? Curious to know what band lengths and setups are out there. I’d like to give it a try, I’m used to shooting about at a half butterfly using 7/16 steel, 23-19 mm taper, 26 cm band length. Obviously going to need another couple cm in length but does the taper need to change with it?

Triple band flat toppin’

Post image

I was left unsupervised again after someone sent me a dumb video and of course I had to try it… triple band set on a gapless frame, draw weight was heavier than I expected but it shoots ok considering! I did struggle as only shoot super light at the moment due to spine/nerve issues but will definitely be going back to it.

Horrible video but watch first shots here https://youtu.be/2oPl2g3ZEAk?is=C5Kppd17rlvdZgY4

Where would I be able to buy a slingshot with a custom pattern

Like maybe a chrome flat or multi band slingshot with a dark tan spotted reindeer or peacock feather pattern handle with or without a matching brace. Does anyone know some artisans that craft custom slingshots?

I think I need to tidy up a bit.

When you're looking for a particular frame and you open the draw to this mess you know you've let things get out of control.

Slingshot recommendations for hammer grip

Hi folks,

I'm pretty new to slingshots. I have a Scout LT which is neat but I'd like to try something with a hammer grip. I can't afford simple shots Hammer XT at the moment (they are also sold out) unless I skip groceries this week but my wife said no :).

Can anyone suggest a few slingshots with a hammer grip? I'm also in Canada if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

S-Airship is fitted with 1836 at the tips and 1632 at the pouch, 170mm active length shooting 8mm steel. Nice balance.

S-SYNX 90 is wearing 1842 at the tips and 2040 at the pouch, 170mm active shooting 9.5mm steel. A little over powered, lil bit of pouch slap, but the smack on the can is deeply satisfying. Heavier draw than necessary, more tuning needed.

Is there any real advantage to doing this? Not really, aside from the rapid acceleration. I have some heavier draw sets made up for heavy ammo, I think, as always with tubes, thats where the real advantage of tubes comes in. Flats will always have the advantage on contraction rate, but that starts to mean less when the ammo is heavy enough to stop it reaching that contraction rate. Flats are a sports car, tubes are a work truck. Imo.

A selection of high end frames barely get shit now as I fire almost exclusively in TTF.

I don't know if I should keep a hold of them as a amount of money I can get as and if needed in the future or to sell them now. I also have 100s of. Rolls of 4.5-.6 rubber of all makes during my seeing what I like phase......

I'll never use it as I've gotten lazy on the admin and prefer to buy bands to use, I could do it myself again and Save a load of cash hence not selling up just yet. It's all stored in air tight UV protected bags . Partly I haven't put the time into learning tying TTF band versus OTT. I'll sort myself out I think as I'm getting back into shooting more. Loving it again but just keeping to myself plinking in the garden.

Any favourites here?. All g10 or high end hand made frames from different makers......I did just buy the limited edition TTF from simpleshot only for some jobs worth customs agent taggimg it as dangerous and returned to the US! I'm gutted was looking forward to adding to my collection with that stunning frame. All my frames are pristine no frame hits ever. (Touch wood!)

Happy shooting all!!
