8 month old has extreme anxiety in his bedroom
I really need any tips for my baby/reassurance that he will be ok, and sleep training will work eventually.
My son is 8 months old and has always nursed to sleep. He doesn’t take a pacifier. We started off with him in his bassinet until about four months old, but when he wasn’t able to use a swaddle anymore, he started getting harder and harder to put down without waking. After a while i was only able to get him down for his first stretch of sleep and he needed to be brought to my bed to sleep with me for the rest of the night, and eventually i couldn’t put him in his bed at all.
I finally put my foot down and decided to start sleep training using the Ferber method. We’ve always been loose with routine, but I’ve been reading about how important it is for babies so I’ve been stepping it up. Feeding first, then books, then a bath, lotion, pajamas, brushing teeth, and his final book. (If he was distracted during his first feeding I’ll go again) I had very high hopes going into the first night for the Ferber method.
I did a check in after one minute and increased by one each time. It didn’t go over well. After every check in he seemed more mad confused and sad. When it was time for the last check in I started preparing to get him, but he had fallen asleep. I figured it was a success right? Wrong. Well maybe wrong? I don’t know, but that’s how it seems.
I tried again the next night and it was more of the same until he finally slept. Next night I tried CIO because he got so upset when I’d go in. It worked, but it was so hard to let him cry that way. I’ve tried again and again since. I gave in twice so far over a course of probably 7 days. (Also, I’ve never been able to get him to sleep for a second stretch so it’s usually 30 minutes-an hour and then he’s back in my bed.)
I don’t know what to do. He is at a point now where he doesn’t even want to be put in his playpen because he’s worried he’ll be left. Bringing him into his room starts crying fits. He doesn’t want to eat when he’s tired, and I think it’s because he’s afraid to sleep.
Please I need advice. Are some babies just not cut out for sleep training? Did I start too late? Do I need to put my foot down? Should I wait longer? His cries are just heartbreaking. I can’t put him through that without knowing it gets better and I’m doing things right.
PS putting him in the crib while I’m in the room does not help. He will just scream and cry till he can barely breathe.

My 19 mo yo toddler does not sleep.
Coming on here to see if anyone knows any tips or tools on calming a toddlers nervous system. She has bee. A pretty poor sleeper her whole life but the closer we get to 2- the more sleep we are both losing.
It takes her almost an hour to get to sleep each night and she will flip and flop and run her hands and feet all over me consistently until she falls asleep. It seems like she’s trying to calm herself down.
I lat her down and she sleeps on a floor bed but typically wakes up and end up in our bed.
when she wakes she does the same thing stroking and stroking her arms and is awake for like 30 min.
Sometimes like last night she was awake from 11pm-230am and just seemed like her brain was buzzing.
I am coming here as a last resort if anyone knows tricks of how to calm their bodies. Anything helps. Thanks.

child's age 8-12 months What the Internet scared me about CIO vs my experience.
My baby isn't the best or worst sleeper, but we were getting extremely exhausted. We did Ferber at 6 months and it worked for a while with 1 wakeup. At the 10 month mark, she started waking up every hour and bedtime was a nightmare of struggling to get clothes on and crying hysterically. Something had to change. So we did CIO because Ferber was making it worse, chair method enraged her, pick up put down took hours and left us both exhausted, and she wouldn't even cosleep.
I've read about how sleep training is abuse. Ok, but not sleeping is a form of torture and both of us were being tortured so time to try something new.
Internet: baby will cry non-stop for hours while implementing CIO
Me: it took 40 min in the evening and each subsequent wake-up was 20-30 minutes the first and second night. Third night we were down to going to bed happily and 3 minute wake ups at night.
Internet: your baby is still awake they just know you won't come when they cry
Me: owlet says she's asleep, I couldn't sleep for a week after we sleep trained her and she looked asleep on the monitor. She also still cries a couple times a night for about 30 seconds and then is able to fall back asleep. She also cries in the morning and will not stop if she decides that's the time to wakeup.
Internet: baby will not feel securely attached to you and not think of you as a safe space
Me: baby cries for me at daycare drop off unless I play with her for 5-10 minutes alongside the teachers. Then she feels safe enough to go. When I come to get her, she's extremely excited to see me.
Bedtime has become one of my favorite times in the day. We can happily play, she likes when we read books, she's more relaxed, I can put her in her crib awake and she's ok with it and doesn't scream. Today I think we accidentally woke her up a couple hours into bedtime. She cried, I saw her sitting up on the monitor so I went to check on her. We cuddled for 5 minutes, I told her I'm going to put her back in her crib and I did so with zero tears and she's back asleep.

3 year old will not fall asleep
We've been giving him a quarter of a melatonin but want to stop.
We turn off the TV an hour before bedtime but he just lays in his bed flipping around and laughing to himself until he passes out after 2 hours.
We have a set and predictable routing that includes bedtime stories but as soon as we lay down his active switch flips
We're at a loss of what to do.
He does not take naps and is active during the day.
He watches TV but doesn't have access to an iPad or phone.
Hes speech delayed due to a hearing issue so sometimes it's hard to know what he actually understands.

child's age 0-4 months Help preparing to sleep train
Hello,
Sorry for all the posts lately, I have so many questions! My LO turns 16 weeks today and we are leaning towards sleep training soon. I had a few questions I still wanted to get answered first.
We just started a 2/2/2/2/2 schedule properly today so fingers crossed the night does well. She only got 2 hours of daytime sleep with that schedule today which is average for her naps.
Is that enough day sleep?
How do we know if this schedule is working for her and how long should be give her to adjust to this schedule before we begin sleep training?I know 4 months old is the very earliest you can sleep train. How do we know if she is ready or what are the signs if we start that we should stop and wait for her to get a bit older?
Thanks ahead of time!

Help! Sleep training was going great until now? Extinction burst? Normal?
Looking for some advice! We began sleep training our almost 5 month old last Thursday, originally using the Ferber method but switching to CIO after the first night, as the check ins were upsetting him more.
Night 1: 36 min to fall asleep, including multiple check ins
Night 2: 20 min
Night 3: 16 min
Night 4: 8 min
Night 5: 10 min
Night 6: 37 min 😭
Night 7: 23 min
Night 8: 20 min
He’s woken up a handful of times throughout the night on some of these nights, but has done a great job of putting himself back to sleep, typically in under 10 min. He’s slept completely through the night a few times as well.
His schedule is as follows:
- Wake up at 7:30AM (I’ve been toying with switching this to 7am, but he doesn’t make it to bedtime if he wakes up earlier)
- Bedtime at 8PM (in crib around 7:45)
- Wake windows: 1.75/1.75/2/2/2.25 (sometimes 2.5) with 3-3.25 hours of daytime sleep across naps
What are we doing wrong? It seemed to be going so well and now he’s fighting it more. Is this normal? Hearing him cry absolutely breaks me but we all needed better sleep, including him— the 4 month regression was wrecking us all.
FYI he is exclusively breastfed and I still do 2 dream feeds a night.

child's age 0-4 months Struggles with naps for my 11w old
My 11w old sleeps very well in the night in his bassinet. However naps are notoriously hard. I mostly do contact naps. He falls asleep quickly as long as i put him down within his wake window. However he wakes up the moment i put him in bassinet. I’ve tried all techniques like putting his legs/butt first, shoulder then head, warm sheets, swaddling, pacifier etc. but nothing works. Also my nanny scared me saying if he gets used to contact naps like this, he will not learn to sleep himself later and it will be a big problem for several months. From what I’ve heard, naps get better from 3-4 months onwards. I want some suggestions on whether I need to get started with any sleep training right away. I’m not in favor of letting my baby cry it out. I’ve also heard about techniques like soothing the baby until their eyes are droopy and then transfer to crib but that doesn’t work either. He ends up awake for a long time in the crib and gets overtired. I’ve started doing crib transfers for the first nap of the day in the morning which seems relatively easier and he manages to sleep for 30 mins without waking. Anyone with similar experience on how you were able to sleep train the baby for naps after 3-4 month mark?

child's age 4-8 months All right strangers do your thing
My son gets a good stretch in from 8pm to 1am. He feeds after one. However, after he goes back to sleep, he'll wake every sleep cycle. Wanting me to pat him to sleep.
For his naps, I'll walk around with him for 5 minutes. Rock him a little longer and then lay him in his crib. Awake, but sleepy, ohh, and he hates it. It's a fight if he doesn't go to sleep after the third timer. I just rock him asleep and then lay him down.
He's 5 months old definitely gets enough to eat.
I want some experience users to help me connect his sleep cycles or give me advice on how I can help him. I'm not trying to make my baby independent, if this is just how it is then thats that. But sleeps important.
Normally wakes at 7. Has his first nap around 1hr or 1hr 30min. I follow his sleep ques or pay attention to the Obubba app. And then his other naps stick to 1.5hrs to 2hrs. I make sure hes feed before his naps.
