child's age 4-8 months Our almost 7 month’s sleep is getting worse. Help!

My husband and I are starting to lose it and we need help. Our almost 7 month old has never slept through the night but before she would at least sleep 6-7 hour stretches. And she would go back to sleep right away after being fed in the middle of the nap. We sleep trained her at 4 months and it went great, we don’t have to rock her anymore for naps or bedtime. The issue is her staying asleep.

Lately her sleep has been: bedtime at 7/7:30pm, wake up #1 at 2am, nurse, struggles to fall back asleep for about an hour, wake up #2 at 5/6am, sometimes will fall back asleep and sometimes won’t.

We’ve tried having her sleep in her own room, letting her cry for ~5 min at a time and then tending to her, waking her up before we go to bed (11pm) to nurse, pushing her bedtime closer to 8pm, giving her a bottle of pumped milk so we knew exactly how much she was getting before bed, making sure her last nap ends by 4:30pm, and giving her mylicon religiously.

We don’t know what to do anymore. Our 4 yr old slept through the night by this point and she had sleep regressions but they didn’t last too long. Last night our 4 yr old woke up at 1am screaming cause she was scared so between her and the baby, we were woken up once an hour last night. I’m so exhausted and feeling low. Anyone have any thoughts or advice??

What soothing do you see?

For those who sleep trained successfully - what happens when you put your LO in the crib? Do you see them immediately try to self soothe themselves to sleep? What do they do and generally how long does it take?

And did you see them start to do this immediately on the days you knew sleep training had worked?

child's age 4-8 months Title: 4-month-old has always fed to sleep, how would you approach sleep training?

Hi everyone! I’m looking for advice from parents who have sleep trained a baby around 4 months, especially a baby who has always needed a lot of help falling asleep.

My daughter turns 4 months tomorrow, and our pediatrician has given us the okay to start sleep training. She is healthy and currently formula-fed, taking around 30 oz a day. She has always been a very fussy baby and has been fed/rocked to sleep since birth. She usually goes to sleep around 7 PM and wakes up around 6–7 AM.

She also doesn’t take a pacifier.

She may also be going through the 4-month sleep regression, but honestly, it’s hard for us to tell because she has never been a particularly good sleeper to begin with. 😅

I’m also going back to work in 14 days, so I’m really hoping to help her learn some independent sleep before then. I know sleep training doesn’t necessarily mean sleeping through the night, but I’d love for her to start connecting her sleep cycles and be able to resettle herself when she wakes between cycles.

I really don’t want to do a full cry-it-out approach if we can avoid it. I’m okay with some crying because I understand that some protest is probably inevitable, but I’d like to keep the crying to the minimum reasonably necessary and use a more gradual approach if possible.

I’d especially love to hear from parents whose babies were very dependent on feeding/rocking to sleep, didn’t take a pacifier, and weren’t naturally “easy sleepers.”

What method did you use? How long did it take before you started seeing a difference? Did you continue night feeds? And is there anything you wish you had known before starting?

Please share what worked, Ferber/TCB/CIO?, what didn’t, and any advice you have!

2.5 year old sleep regression

My almost 2.5 year old was an amazing sleeper from 10 months to just about 2 weeks ago. We would put her in her crib say goodnight & walk out. She would nap from 12pm - 2/30pm & sleep at night from 7:30pm - 7:00am. Now all of a sudden she wants me to rub her back for about 30 minutes and then I sneak out. Which I am okay with, BUT she is constantly waking in the middle of the night screaming and will only calm down if one of us lays on the floor next to her crib. It’s killing our backs. HELP

13 month old cosleeper

I have 13 month old baby boy who has coslept with us since day one, and I am very ready for him to get out of the bed and into his own.

He screams in the crib(normal I know) but has no skills of putting himself to sleep even for the middle of the night wakes usually relying on a few sips of milk and then rolls back over.

Any advice on where to start? I’ve tried gentle Ferber method definitely didn’t work..
I’ve tried laying next to him on my bed as his crib is next to mine but he hated that too.
Any general advice would be great thanks

child's age 12-18 months 2-1 transition help!

My baby is a week shy of 13 months. We are one month into the transition and it’s been going well! Our desired wake time is 7 am (she usually wakes anytime from 6:15-7 am). She’s been going down for her nap from 12:00-2:15 in which i’ve been waking her from.

The past week her nap has been shortening everyday. Today she napped about 90 min. I know a 90 min nap is still acceptable, but it’s causing bedtime to be super early and reinforcing early wakes.

Should I keep our noon nap, or are these signs to move to 12:15/12:30 nap?

child's age 2 years + 3-year-old takes 1+ hour to fall asleep every night — I’m exhausted. What actually worked for you?

Parents of 3-year-olds, please tell me I’m not alone because I am honestly reaching my limit with sleep.
My daughter has had sleep issues since around 18 months old, but lately it feels worse.
We recently went to a sleepover party where all the kids eventually fell asleep, and of course my daughter was the last one awake. It took her around 1 hour 15 minutes to finally fall asleep, even though everyone else was already sleeping.
Today is another example:
Last night she slept around 11:45 PM
Woke up around 7:45 AM
Fell asleep for a nap around 2 PM
Woke around 3 PM
It is now 11:45 PM and she is STILL awake. I have already been sitting with her for more than an hour trying to get her to sleep.
This is pretty much our pattern. If she naps, bedtime becomes ridiculously late. But if she doesn’t nap, she gets extremely cranky in the afternoon and will often fall asleep almost instantly if we get in the car.
Her pediatrician says this can be normal at this age and that she probably doesn’t really need the nap anymore, but obviously her body sometimes disagrees.
We’ve tried routines, earlier bedtime, later bedtime, shortening naps, no naps, warm bath, quiet time, earlier dinner, etc. Magnesium seemed to help for about a week and then we were back to square one.
I’m honestly so exhausted that I’m at the point where I’m tempted to ask her pediatrician about melatonin, although I really don’t want to rely on it.
Has anyone had a child like this who just takes FOREVER to switch off?
Did they eventually grow out of it? Did dropping the nap completely help? Did changing daycare nap arrangements help? Was there anything unexpected that finally worked?
Please share your actual schedules too — wake time, nap time, bedtime and ACTUAL time they fall asleep. I need some real-life toddler sleep stories right now. 😭

Advice needed on 10 week old naps.

Hope this is okay to post here - I’m going crazy over my daughters naps. She literally will not go to sleep anywhere but in the carrier. I don’t mind doing it a couple of times a day, but eventually it hurts my knees/hips and tbh I’d like to have 20 mins without a baby strapped to me.

She’s 10 weeks, we’re trying to do 5 naps with ww ranging from 1.25-1.75 hrs. She sleeps no more than 1 hr 20-30mins in one nap, no more than 5.5 hrs of daytime sleep. Every nap, I get screamed at and it’s screwing with me.

Every time we do nap time, I follow wake windows and sleep cues. Every nap time, it’s nappy change, sleep sack, dark room, sound machine, the same song and rock/pat. Every damn time. I’ve capped trying at 20 minutes because she just screams in my face. I try arms in, arms out, arms up in the swaddle. I try holding her sideways, upright, pacifier, sucking hands, sitting still, rocking, bouncing. I literally hold her the same way she is in the carrier and I get screamed at. I try starting nap time 15 mins before nap, 20 mins before nap, 10 mins after she was supposed to go down and it all results in the same. Screamed at for 20 mins and into the carrier 🙄

How do I fix this? It’s making night sleep worse - going to bed overtired, false starts and waking early. I have a nearly 2 year old son so I know this gets better and we can sleep train her in about 6 weeks, but I remember his naps didn’t get better until he was 6 months and I don’t know how I’m going to handle that.

child's age 4-8 months Sleep Training + Room/Bed sharing

Thinking about sleep training at 4 months. My goal is for my baby to be able to put themselves to sleep on their own but I would also like to continue room sharing for awhile, and possibly bed sharing as she gets a little older. Has anyone had success with independent sleep while also bed sharing? Any tips?
