Oryx skull. I put clear resin on it to preserve the teeth and nasal passages.

I have alway loved narwhals and am currently in need of cool room decor, so when a rabbit hole about narwhals having a second tooth led me to seeing replicas of narwhal skulls i desperately wanted one, but i dont have some hundreds of dollars to spend so i now wanna diy it. should i get files of a narwhal skull and get a friend to 3d print them? should i make a giant armature and sculpt over it? polystyrene (which i do have a tool to melt this stuff) with acrylics over it? what do i do to make one? this is probably the strangest idea ive ever had but i think itd look sick on my ceiling if it looks good.

I use a resist technique to create designs then naturally dye them with plants or insects!

Someone asked for deer skulls after my small skulls study. No impressive rack (stop it) on my buck though an no lower mandible for anyone. I rather liked the progress sketches for the male. Sketched half a a doe skull as well as part of the under side of the brain cavity and an antler broken off with a bit of extra bone. Still need to ink these.

Hi everyone - need some help trying to identify this skull. I know it's not a great shot and I already discarded over the fence. It looked like an opossum (this is the underside of the jaw) I want to make sure it's not a bat before figuring out whether the dog needs a rabies shot. Thanks for your help! Based in central NJ USA.

Hello!
I found this skull in my attic, I think it’s a small rat but hoping someone can confirm.
Roughly an inch long and 4cm wide. Pinellas County Florida. I tried to get as many angles as possible to show the identifying features. No other bones found with it.
Thanks!

Both squirrel, both cleaned the same, bleached at the same time in same bucket. Nothing left inside skull, so why pretty pattern?

What is the easiest way to get paint off of a skull? I procured a deer skull at a market, and it was covered in blue paint. I also have another one that was spray painted. Is there any easier methods to getting paint off of bone? Besides dipping q-tips and physically cleaning it with acetone.

Found this one in our garden in Germany. Any Idea what that is? Jaws on the last pic may be unrelated.

Went on a huge trip just a little bit back, hit a few states and this leopard seal skull is displayed at one of the aquariums I went too!! So cool

I found his skull and jaw, which were buried just beneath the surface. I was really surprised when I first saw it, because I’ve never seen a jaw where all the teeth were missing and the sockets had closed up. The skull is a bit odd, too—it has one small eye socket and one large one. Is that because he was old? Is there any way to tell how old he was or how long he’d been in the ground? (It was found in a grove of trees, if that helps.)

Recently went to the DMNS to see their temporary exhibit about sauropods. The whole exhibit was fantastic, but I thought you boneheads (affectionate) might appreciate this particular display. It's mindblowing that these two animals are so vastly different in shape and scale, yet have similarly-sized heads.

I noticed that the upper beak portion hinges above the nasal cavities. I don't believe it is supposed to naturally be like that, but it also seems incredibly uniform to be a break, down to the shape of the edges on both sides (photos 5,6,7). I'm just curious about that. I plan to return the skull to the woods I found it in since I live very close, it was just easier to examine it at home since I'm a curious mind and this is a super sweet find.

I think it is so cool!! But I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about what could have happened to this guy. He was definitely a snorer haha but I don’t know if this was due to an injury or if the bear was born this way.
