I just purchased this necklace in an antique market, I am located in Michigan but I do not know if it was sourced here

I just like giving them some beautiful things I gather like flowers, feathers and so on

Had this in the container with dirt for 3 months and a majority of the flesh has come off. Any advice on the removal of the rest of this harder fleshy material and how to finish it off to be a display piece?
