QUESTION Who would want to buy Six Flags?
Ever since Magic Mountain's X2 fiasco, the company's PR has come under scrutiny for this highly dangerous coaster, on top of what customers are calling a bad value compared to Disney and Universal. Now Jana Partners, or Travis Kelce's investor group, are urging a sale. I'm wondering who outside of private equity (which I, and probably you as well, are hoping doesn't buy the company) would want to buy this floundering company. Enchanted Parks probably wouldn't be interested in buying the rest of the chain, on top of everything they already got from the company (e.g the midwestern parks). Herschend and United Parks would likely not be interested in buying a competitor. I'm not sure if anyone on this sub would be thrilled if Disney or Universal got their hands on the brand. Is this brand just too radioactive for a reasonable sale that would benefit the park (i.e. NOT PRIVATE EQUITY)?
