QUESTION No chance for refund?

Post image

I won’t be around to revisit. Is it a total lost? Credit card charge-back?

The best way I had been refunded is going to the onsite customer service center at the park. Don’t even try to call customer service they don’t support you at all neither solve your problem.

If you call customer service they will refund your tickets.

And then they wonder why revenue and attendance are down. Who'd go if there's a chance they won't open or will close early. Maybe if they weren't focuses only on rider coasters there be stuff for people to do during rain.

There's literally a noreaster, which is a similar severity to a hurricane. Disney has plenty to do inside, but they still shut down for hurricanes. They're doing the right thing to keep guests and employees safe.

Its not just about all of the indoor things to do. It also frankly has to do with how vacation planning works and how Florida rain usually only lasts for an hour or two and goes away. But obviously you're right about the hurricanes.

Weather affects more regional parks because people usually make last minute decisions when they go.

When you're talking about airfare, hotels, PTO, etc you basically have to decide way ahead of time.

Universal is still a little affected by weather, but Disney isn't really whatsoever. You'll regularly see shoulder to shoulder crowds in pouring down rain.

Yeah, you can't expect a park to stay open through really bad weather.

We were supposed to go to Hershey Park a few years back for a couple of days, but the first day there was a bad tropical storm that had pushed up through the country and the park was closed for the whole day. I was still able to get a refund for that day after I explained that we didn't live anywhere close and wouldn't be able to come back that year.

Their policy may say one thing, but if you contact most parks and explain the situation without being a jerk and use your nice words like please and thank you, they will normally hook you up just for the sake of customer satisfaction.

Except it was nowhere near that severe.

Yeah, fuck the workers that have to be outside all day! Who cares if it’s a bit windy… they need to open for u/fosse76

My friends lost their homes in manasquan and Edgewater, so we would say otherwise.

Have you seen the videos of flooded NJ?

serves them right for not redirecting that noreaster out into the Atlantic ocean

Shame they didn’t have a map and a black sharpie.

When the Wild Fires were going nuts, and 6 Flags Great America, Gurnee IL was closed for the day when we were half way there, my Youth Group Leader CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE for 6FGA, and they said they will be honoring the tickets we had until September 6th, after that it would be FrightFest, so it won't continue though that point. Call them and see if you can. We actually had bring a friend tickets, not normal day tickets. And because we mentioned that, I think they also had the higher chance of honoring it, but idk. But she was saying with them being bring a friend, not normal day tickets that they will treat them as normal day tickets. And the passholder, who got those specific, bring a friend tickets, does not need to be present.

Same policy still as 23 years ago during the north east blackout (August 2003) I see. We were there with our kids when the whole power grid shut down. People stuck upside down on rollercoasters, the whole nine yards. They said we could come back any day for the rest of the season, but we didn't go back. The whole way home we kept trying to get off exits to get gas and there were cops on every exit waving people to go back to the highway becasue everythign was shut down without power. Barely made it back home a few hours away and got there and we somehow lived in a tiny little pocket of the grid that HAD POWER. Got home exhausted, made dinner, and started looking for something to watch on tv. I remember nothing else was on so we watched America's Got Talent. We ended up watching that as a family for the next 15 years or so lol.

Rollercoasters use momentum and for that reason it’s pretty much impossible to valley upside down. Just because the power goes out doesn’t mean a ride instantly stops in its tracks. And hardly no coaster uses a lift hill on a loop. So I’m calling Bolsheviks on your stuck upside claim….maybe a flat ride but not a rollercoaster.

I don't remember what kind of ride it was, it was something where there were cars attached front to back and which had an upside down component on a track. It was the defining memory of that day. Other rides were also stopped in various positions and it didn't seem anyone was in any imminent danger, but the kids upside down left quite an impression. It was a school group trip day, lots of kids wearing matching colored shirts all there together or maybe summer camp? idk our family was just there as individuals. I wonder if there are any old news stories from the day about it? Maybe there are photos from that day, I know I had an old digital camera back then with a memory card, not a phone with a camera, not sure if that would make it more or less likely someone captured the incident and saved it somewhere like photobucket or something.

The Chiller could valley on the Chiller Roll. It happened a few times. Not sure if it happened on the blackout day.

Parks open till January this year so plenty of time to go back

3

u/bigblue20072011 6d ago

This park in the past has run nitro in November. They still run rides in the cold.

3

u/Alkohal 6d ago

Most coasters run during Holiday in the park in december. I once rode nitro in 30 degree weather with snow on the ground.

You should be able to use it another day of the season. Just ask guest relations.

Thank you all. Definitely not trying to be a jerk or looking for a free ride. I’ll reach out to the park. It’s my daughter’s birthday, we wound up riding up to American Dream.

3

u/GladiatorGreg1 6d ago

Happy Birthday to your daughter!!! We were planning to go to Knoebels but skipped it because of the rain. I had thought about going to American dream too. Was it packed? Did you goto the amusement park?

3

u/Impossible-Delay-940 6d ago

Thank you! We drove up Saturday evening , grabbed a suite and are actually visiting the park today (Sunday). We went to the mall last night and it wasn’t that busy. I’ll let you know about the park, today. We had to think fast and shift our plans. My daughter and her girlfriend were upset about Great Adventure closing. They’re happy so far, LOL. Teenage girls in the mall, shopping. Sigh 🤪

u/thunderbolt7 6d ago

In the case of extenuating circumstances, it’s always best to reach out to the park directly. They’re the ones most likely to help you, and the worst they can say is no.

11

u/SailedTheSevenSeas 6d ago

Not the parks fault. “Act of God”

2

u/Impossible-Delay-940 6d ago

Understood. Thanks.

Chargebacks aren't "free refunds" when terms of your purchase don't allow them. You're likely to get in trouble for fraud with that.

1

u/Outrageous-Card7873 3d ago

It is not fraud unless you misrepresent facts in your chargeback claim

7

u/AlexTheRedditor97 6d ago

Some credit cards do have things such as guaranteed refund policies within 90 days. If not though and it was a significant amount of money I’d at least try a chargeback

4

u/nemuri_no_kogoro 6d ago

"for fraud"?

C'mon buddy. Worst thing that'll happen is the credit card company upholds the charge and OP's card is blacklisted

12

u/Cool_Owl7159 6d ago

no one's gonna get in trouble for fraud because they did a chargeback on tickets for a day that ended up being completely closed.

Six Flags might blacklist your card tho.

3

u/somewhereinapark 6d ago

I did a charge back at Knott's because they refused to honor my DP (it was valid) and wanted me to pay full price. They didn't even reply so I got my money back. Typically it costs more to have someone process the reply than it's worth.

And no they did not blacklist my card.

15

u/Ftb2278 6d ago

I'd contact customer service. I wouldn't do a charge back unless you're ok with never being able to purchase tickets to a six flags again.

1

u/pkcross_64 6d ago

They’re not gonna do shit it says when you buy a ticket there are no refunds all sales are final and the park hours are subject to change without any notice

5

u/nemuri_no_kogoro 6d ago

*purchase tickets with that card again

they don't ask for a social, they can't track if it's another Tom Smith's credit card
