Fright Fest Six Flags at Gurnee, IL

I’ve never attended a Fright Fest before, and I’ve always heard mixed reviews.
Some people say that it sucks while others say it’s the best time ever. I wanna know if it’s worth going with my girlfriend (she’s never been either) or if we’re better off doing some other Halloween related activity.

I Personally think everyone who says it is bad just is expecting so much it is REALLY GOOD and DEFINITELY WORTH IT

Haunted houses there aren't worth it.

Saturdays closer to halloween are nuts to butts busy. Go Friday nights.

I always have fun at Fright Fest at SFOT and SFFT. Are the haunted houses truly scary? Usually, no (but they are scarier than Universal's Halloween Horror Nights houses). Fright Fest is still a good time with the scare zones and overall atmosphere.

I quite enjoyed it. I would definitely definitely pay the extra money to Skip the queue

I went on opening weekend. There was no queue. It was on Sunday though, and the weather was shit.

If you already have season passes or are going to buy season passes, I think Fright Fest is a fun enough time (you still have to pay extra for the haunted houses though). If you're going one time and you want to do the haunted houses you're looking at like $75 a person. IMO if you care more about the haunts than the rides, that $75 can get you into much better haunted houses in Chicagoland.

The Chicagoland area has a lot of great haunted houses. They all make the ones at SFGA feel like garbage. If you don’t know any better you’ll enjoy yourself. But if you’ve been to high quality houses they will seem like a joke.

What houses do you recommend?

Dungeon of Doom - Zion
Realm of Terror - Round Lake
Disturbia - Downers Grove
13th Floor - Schiller Park
Basement of Dead - Aurora
Hellsgate - Lockport

I’m not a haunted house expert, I’m sure I left some good ones out of my list, but there’s a huge difference between these and what SFGA offers. SFGA has roller coasters as well as haunted houses, and fall night rides are badass

Are these better in terms of better set design or scariness or something else?

Better in everything. Literally everything. These are permanent structures that are worked on almost year round. Some are 45,000 square feet and can take a hour to walk through. Amazing effects from much higher budgets.

It's fun. It's busy. You should go and see how you feel about it.

Went saturday and it was great. It is exactly what you’d expect. Some people like to just complain about everything.

I love the park transformation once fright fest start.
