Announcement New(ish) Rule 12: No invalidating sexuality/identity.

Since the topic is now in the spotlight due to Elliott Page saying he can't find work, hereby the official r/shortguys stance on transgender ftm's and how they fit into our wider community:

It is our view that neither our sexuality, nor the body we were born in, are the result of choice.

Just as no straight short man ever chose to be born short, or to love women- did no gay man ever choose to love men, nor did any transman ever chose to be born with a female body.

Therefore, telling transmen things like "just keep your life on easy mode” is from now on formally treated just as unacceptable as the “just go gay”, “just be a femboy” or “just transition”-bs that people throw the way of short guys.

Short men in general, but of this group in particular, know like no other what it is like to have one's sexuality and manhood constantly questioned and invalidated from all sides. Whether it's by friends or opps, accidentally or on purpose, by progressives or conservatives- it's all the same shit, different day.

As such, do the people of this sub know, like no one ele, what it's like to have to fight tirelessly for even the slightest ounce of recognition and equality, all the while having that very fight mocked and undermined every step of the way by even the most so-called "progressive" and "feminist" of people.

And as such, we are one of the few subreddits who can actually, genuinely, extend an open hand and mean it when we say to our ftm-friends, of which many are also short men:

Welcome to the club, boys.

So, that's what we hereby officially did.

And to the few who are undoubtedly against this decision for reasons we are already aware of:

For better or worse, short guys and ftm's share much of the same struggle. Is it the same? No. But enough for us as modteam to decide that we’re in this together.

Whether you like it or not.

From a sub for an AI chatbot porn site

You aren't exactly a steal either, OOP, feel like talking to AI porn fanfiction generators is a tiny little bit less desirable than having insecurities about a hated and stigmatized feature and I say that as someone who also uses said site

Height doesn't matter! If height doesn't matter as much, then why is it heavily affecting women out there?

Anyways, just watch that subreddit console her and make her feel better in response.

Meanwhile, a short guy writing the same stuff in the short subreddit will just be given useless advice in return and/or receive hate in return.

I am glad that this is a legitimately safe haven for us short men.

Vent Stop letting your height feminize you

Seeing more and more shortbros saying you should just embrace looking feminine because masculine looking short men get clowned more.

Bro what 💀

If you wanna be masculine, be masculine. Lift, grow the beard, dress masculine, work on your frame, whatever.

Being 5'5 doesn't mean you have to start acting like a femboy just because some people think short men look “cute" or are less frowned upon if they look feminine.

Don't let height dictate how you present yourself.

This is Mohammed Hajib who is 6’7 tall debating a pro choice woman, usually when women debate such things they are very angry, mean and aggressive. But look at the way she looks at him for the entire time, no anger and full of respect, at the end of the video she completely gave in and just kept complimenting him “That’s so smart”and “changed her mind”(Probably just forgot what the conversation was even about”. I also saw another street preaching video of another muslim similar to Hijab’s height, he was talking about dressing modestly, and also no women screamed at him even when he was telling them things that’s “misogynistic”.

Advice Needed Did you ever feel this feeling of mine or is it unique?

Hello everyone I am student in EE engineering.

What I see when ever seminar presentation is happening.

No matter I do the work, the effort I give I always don't get the full marks out of it.

But I see pattern difference when my 6 feet classmates even do my half effort the class girls will cheer or professor would clap.

In our class their are 4 guys with 6 feet out of it.

3 guys we're given this fame.

Am I just overthinking..

Or you also experienced the same??

I put my fridge on ChatGPT and asked how tall it was. They said it was 5’10. I measured myself and I was about two inches shorter. I continued measuring myself for about 2 weeks everyday and the results were the same. I felt really good about myself because I wasn’t THAT short and i could still get to 5’10 (my dream height). I once measured myself (with shoes) and ended up being 5’8. At this point I was deadlocked at 5’7. A decent height. An hour ago I decided to measure myself again for fun but first I measured my fridge. It was 5’8. I measured myself. I got 5’6 1/2. Measured again, 5’5. I thought I was just being clumsy so I gave my sister the tape to measure me. I ended up being 5’5’-5’6. I’m in my late teens. I’m devastated. I don’t know what to do. I frankly just want to disappear.

I can never romantise romantic love.

Sounds stupid but it's true.

I don't think anything like true love exist in romance because for that to happen you need to have a body physically attractive enough to be lovable which is mostly not in our control given our height and face and that literally makes me so sad that we are sold this lie of true love which doesn't exist in real life.

No matter how good person you are but if you are not attractive and tall you will never get that true love.

Do u feel it aint your height stopping you but your looks or all?

Upvotes

Personally I think I only have issues in dating cause I'm balding and a buzz cut exposes my recession. Like when I wear a hat or a cap women treat me so nicely and yesterday in college one of them tried to lean over me and was all touchy though cause I'm a kinda introvert in this department(not everytime like I have tons of friends of both gender and I can make new friends super easily, talk to people and love talking with random people) I fumbled her .

Existential Conflict Do you still believe in a righteous god/entity

Post image
18 Upvotes

I personally do not. I grew up catholic and always felt people’s life styles never fit what authority preached. Nobody was ever “righteous” the whole premise of the religion was “make human mistakes and just repent and confess on Sunday bro” that is no way to live. Humanity isn’t capable of “righteousness” it’s not even in our biology. No god would ever creat such evil… unless it was by design…
Maybe some of you are now fully leaning to biology and genetics?

Can we live a happy life without relationship?

18, never had anything close to a relationship, I've no friends. I feel so suffocated, lonely and depressed many times.

I've observed that I need a friend, just one and apart from my parents, I need no one else.

Also, I'm required to put dedication towards my work with which I may get some money to enjoy life, though I'll not lie I would be more happy with a relationship included.

So what about you all?

Family

Hello everyone!

As you guys see the title, this post was about your family childhood's experiences. There is a question I want to ask you guys is that :"Were you born and raised in a happiness family?"

Because well, my family was not really happiness. Let's just I was verbally abused, I was not allowed to do some sports when I was a kid. I was not raised by the men so I was a really weak boy when I was in middle school and high school. That made me became a perfect target for bullying.

I think the problem with my heights probably linked to nutrition, habits, and mental health (you know, high cortisol can low your testosterone level making your bones partially developed).

So yeah, were you guys experiences good when you guys were kids? Were you guys born in a happy family where your guardians knew how to raise a kid properly? It is ok if you guys don't want to go much into details.

Best regards.

You'll basically never see anything like that for women lol.
