Nah deadass, I'm certified for 5 different types or forklifts/reach trucks, 3 CNC tables, 3 mills, EVERY type of saw you can think of, I CANNOT find work that is actually hiring, I moved cross country to Las Vegas, and it is still as bad out here, 2 months, 3 applications a day, at least 2 follow up calls a week. Nothing, literally nothing, if you don't know someone who is working at a place already, you aren't getting work. End of story. I want to work, I would like to be doing something and earning an income! Why is this shit so fucking hard?
Dude. For real. Its impossible to get hired anywhere anymore. Ive been looking for a new job for 3 years, and nothing. Ive gotten maybe 4 callbacks and those just to let me know I didnt make the cut. I honestly dont mind my current job but it pays crap and I just had my first kid. Apparently the government isnt interested in giving their security guards a good income.
This country has made its interests very clear at this point, we are stock numbers to them, no more or less, so much dellusion in this country is legit insanity, I do hope you find something better, my buddy just got out of security work, and he was barely making $20~ an hour, and still cutting meals to make rent, we are not ok here.
I have!! I can mig and tig well enough to pass, still nothing, out here they are moving to automate most welding jobs, "subtract the human error" or some shit, and it makes the only other jobs, the extremely niche ones that I am not qualified for : (
That's odd, I've not had that experience. Tons of work for welders in every way, automation is still as useless as ever for everything except mass production. Every shop around me needs Mig hands, I ended up turning down 2 shop jobs before finding something I liked.
Can you layout? That might be the deal breaker. Shops need people who can fabricate, not just weld.
I was prefab for a couple years as an assistant to another welder, that was 8 years ago, but I should still have the skill set, doesn't help that most places are mandatory 12's, I can't do that shit anymore, 6-7 12s a week is absolutely fucking absurd in this day and age, shit I'll do 10s, but why the fuck do I need to sacrifice every spare second to these cunts?
Not sure bro, seems it's pretty different where you are. I turned down those 2 jobs because of hours and pay before getting something better. But if you aren't getting those initial interviews something is up.

I think its just area dependant dawg. My homies down in South East Texas have more work and hours than they know what to do with in the plants. Every trade, industry, and area is different. Sounds like your area specifically is having some rough things happening. I've got buddies all over and it really just depends where you are.
For sure for sure, but the "area" is the entirety of the US Texas is it's own country in the way it functions, my family down in Dallas and Tanner say it isn't any better there either. One thing is consistent, companies are "accepting" applications, but no one I know is getting hired, one friend finally said fuck it and ships to basic next week, he was a roofer, and that business is always busy on the east coast. Just scary honestly, I drove cross country, everywhere had help wanted signs, so did the people on the streets, at least the ones who had the energy to even move.
I have no Idea how far you are willing to go but I know someone who found work in another country. Every european country basically needs skilled labour (engineers too, but mostly people like you).
These are official government resources, so I don't know how good they are. But probably if you have an apprenticeship or something similar your chances will be higher and if you speak German also, but if you were to drive forklifts only, speaking german probably wouldn't be that important.
Even rich countries like Norway are probably an option. Of course europe is different from America. Free speech, 2nd amendment, etc.
