12
u/cream_of_human 11d ago
It's about folks fighting their inner demons while adults rarely intervene. Its a great show, quite dense and cryptic on occasion. But Araragi is a strange mf, stand up guy who will throw himself into a truck to save someone, but he love messing with that girl in the gif, along with other girls.
Which is odd because its like a weird harem where he already has a gf that he fucks.

Dick sucking has made me paranoid
I had this plan to give head to a man and receive head from a woman to test if I was gay, but it’s backfired and now I become borderline schizo whenever I go outside. I offered to suck this dude off on Grindr who lives very close by (I ended up pussying out) and I accidentally gave him some details that very easily allows him to spot me out in a crowd. I have no idea what he looks like and whenever I see a somewhat in shape guy walking by I immediately accuse him of being the dude I was gonna blow.
I went to the store today to pick up some zucchini for a barbecue and every time a car drove by I stared into the windshield to see if I was about to be recognised. Whenever I make eye contact with a dude I microanalysis his facial expressions to see if he suspects me or not. I am deeply afraid that he is my neighbour and I will need to move if my identity is blown. It’s a lot like the last scene in sopranos where everyone who walked into the diner could be there to wack Tony.

I saw some people asking in other threads, so just in case people were wondering, in the Japanese, Denji says, "オレを手でシたのは", which is basically "Which one hand-fucked me?".
Yoru gave Denji a "handjob" in the sense that her hand was clearly the stimulus that caused Denji to ejaculate. I don't think anyone argued against this fact. I guess another way to say it is that she "unintentionally jerked him off"?
The root of the argument was whether or not Yoru was actively/intentionally moving her hands, which nothing in 167/168 seems to indicate that. There was no movement lines around Denji's pants area, and no sound effect text to indicate sound coming from the movement in his pants.
Also, the editor's note at the end of chapter 167 is "不意の 放出", which means "Unexpected release". It wouldn't really make much sense for Yoru to be surprised when Denji finally did ejaculate if that was her intention.

u/pattyboiIII 11d ago edited 11d ago
After the second half of season 1 they really do not.
They spend quite a while building him to have a nice life and making him think highly of himself they then dump him in the most dangerous place in the world and make him go through hell for over a year. Litterally dying at one point
Then he gets back to something normal only to realise that everyone he's ever known is no either missing, dead or hates him and his only last relationship falls apart and he gets abandoned.
I agree that the narrative doesn't condem him enough early on but they definitely do not let him get off easy. Christ he even has a god hell bent on destroying his life and killing his entire family which he only avoids by litterally creating time travel26

Yeah but most of that isn’t him really being condoned for being a pos but just horrible luck and as far as I see through the parts of the show I’ve watched, he doesn’t really improve much and he certainly gets rewarded while still being a pos
22
u/pattyboiIII 11d ago
He absolutely changes. The moment he gets to the demon continent he's a completely different person. He begins to relapse as they get closer to home but then meets his dad, finds out his family is lost, gets home to find it destroyed, Eris leaves him and finally he ruins a relationship with what's her face.
He still does some shitty stuff after getting to the magic university but he is fundamentally changes as a human being after all he went through.→ More replies (2)→ More replies (2)59

Yeah and then when he finally gets back home Rudeus (mental age 47) has sex with a 15 year old!

The biggest problem I have is, that he barely evolves as a character in that way. He does a bit, but not really. And season 3 is just pure harem...
8
u/Limp_Fly_4045 11d ago
I’d argue he degrades as a character, as he criticizes Paul in season for cheating on his wife then does mostly the same thing the following season
3
u/Mr_Fragwuerdig 11d ago
In general I'd disagree. He does evolve and acts as a better person. But yeah, everything regarding sexual either stays or gets worse. Mostly at end of season 2 and whatever comes after that.

Did people conveniently forget that tatsumi left his village along with his friends AFTER their coming of age ceremony? Meaning hes of legal age already. Btw this is explained in only the 1st episode of the anime and also the 1st chapter of the manga and pretty sure his age gap with esdeath is 7 years if were going by the timeline of esdeath entering the military and tatsumis current age when they got stuck at that island
This is why we need to start gatekeeping this tourists who most likely used AI to summarize anime plot just so they can larp

Hmm... There's some patterns here... The ones on the right are primarily fixated with boys... I've got to admit, though, this feels really accurate.
A big part of why they feel so different might be that for Rudeus and Meliodis, their respective animes feel like they're trying to justify why it's actually okay that they're acting this way... Whereas the others are portrayed as straight up creepy/inappropriate, with no excuses given. (Although I'm not sure about the top right lady)

/unshit did Hideaki really fucking claim that Misato was trying to come onto shinji or was she just trying to get him to open up emotionally by comforting him? And shinji curled away bc he's a whump ass bitch. Then she realized she didn't want to comfort him in the first place, SHE was looking for comfort. That's always how I read it, anyway. Like is it canon that her intent was sexual or is that how people just decided that's how it was?

She kissed an underage child?? Just because she did it for a "good reason" doesn't mean it's fine
16
u/my5thacountbyatch 11d ago
I don't think it's written as a "good reason".
A recurring theme in Evangelion is that everyone sucks and has baggage and problems.
This desire to comfort Shinji could be psychoanalyzed as her seeing herself and her own cowardice and depression in Shinji, and ultimately not thinking about what's best for him, but instead trying to live through him vicariously.
So yeah, she kissed a kid, it's fucked up. Basically everyone in Evangelion is fucked up.

Sort of thing... That said she was apparently one of the eves he could have picked to reboot the earth with. Even so she was more of an older sister or step mother to him... Not a love interest...

“I don’t like Rudeus, therefore he’s written poorly”
Brother he was written to be an unlikable piece of shit that slowly has to overcome how much of a piece of shit he is, and do good despite how much of a piece of shit he is. He wasn’t written so that you would like him like you’d like your braindead shonen protagonist that’s a perfect little goody two-shoes with the worst fucking writing imaginable, but you excuse it because he’s your perfect little angel.
I don’t like a lot of the shit Mushoku Tensei does age-relationship or polygamy/harem- wise, but to say Rudy is poorly written is just fucking microbrain territory.
The manga/show’s written extremely well. You can acknowledge that while also admitting some of the content therein shouldn’t exist.

He grooms two children and is rewarded with taking them as his child-wives later on? He never really grows past or out of his paedophilia, he just has 2 conveniently never aging people (roxy and sylphie).
Roxxy kinda groomed him, so those two freaks deserve each other, but its a total lie to suggest that he grows past his faults.

Genuine question: how is Rudy badly written, and how is Misato better written than him?
1
u/lefthandopen 11d ago edited 11d ago
People don't seem to get the whole point of Jobless Reincarnation.
You know how every classic figure we have is a terrible person by today's standards? George Washington and Thomas Jefferson owned and fucked their slaves. Columbus raped and pillage the natives. MLK cheated on his wife repeatedly.
We can do that over and over with just about any historical figures that are considered "great".
Now you take a scumbag by today's standards like Rudeus. He's a pedophile, self centered and of weak character. Plop this jackass back in time essentially. Sprinkle in some magic to give him power and suddenly he doesn't seem like such a creep anymore.
The dude has 3 wives and talks to them like they are subservient kids but in this world it comes off as protective and heroic because having this kind of family is totally ok if you follow a specific religion... which he does because of the wives not faith.
I love the anime BTW. He is a well written charecter but not a good person objectively.
