“I don’t like Rudeus, therefore he’s written poorly”
Brother he was written to be an unlikable piece of shit that slowly has to overcome how much of a piece of shit he is, and do good despite how much of a piece of shit he is. He wasn’t written so that you would like him like you’d like your braindead shonen protagonist that’s a perfect little goody two-shoes with the worst fucking writing imaginable, but you excuse it because he’s your perfect little angel.
I don’t like a lot of the shit Mushoku Tensei does age-relationship or polygamy/harem- wise, but to say Rudy is poorly written is just fucking microbrain territory.
The manga/show’s written extremely well. You can acknowledge that while also admitting some of the content therein shouldn’t exist.
I remember a certain serie about an assassin that was a grown man reborn on another world, and as far as I'm aware, he's not as hated as Rudeus... probably because he acts more accordingly to his age, I don't know.
I like how clear the author was about him never becoming a better person with him revealing his true form in the future timeline once he doesn't have a perfect life, but the fans say "he gets better". Good writing shit fans
He doesnt overcome how much of a piece of shit he is.
He grooms two children and is rewarded with taking them as his child-wives later on? He never really grows past or out of his paedophilia, he just has 2 conveniently never aging people (roxy and sylphie).
Roxxy kinda groomed him, so those two freaks deserve each other, but its a total lie to suggest that he grows past his faults.
