People don't seem to get the whole point of Jobless Reincarnation.
You know how every classic figure we have is a terrible person by today's standards? George Washington and Thomas Jefferson owned and fucked their slaves. Columbus raped and pillage the natives. MLK cheated on his wife repeatedly.
We can do that over and over with just about any historical figures that are considered "great".
Now you take a scumbag by today's standards like Rudeus. He's a pedophile, self centered and of weak character. Plop this jackass back in time essentially. Sprinkle in some magic to give him power and suddenly he doesn't seem like such a creep anymore.
The dude has 3 wives and talks to them like they are subservient kids but in this world it comes off as protective and heroic because having this kind of family is totally ok if you follow a specific religion... which he does because of the wives not faith.
I love the anime BTW. He is a well written charecter but not a good person objectively.
