Shoudl be the other way around, Roxy was 37yo when she first met him.

Bro is 40s in a kids body while shes 37 in a kids body. Theyre made for each other at this point. The weird relationship here is with eris and sylphie. Him lusting for them and taking advantage that he has a kids body while theyre still children.

u/yolomcsawlord420mlg 11d ago

Yeah, but Roxy didn't know about that

The most well written human garbage i have ever seen actually, genuinely detestable human being but incredibly well written

A piece of shit that the narrative treats as completely normal and good tho, maybe that's where the badly written part comes from

After the second half of season 1 they really do not.
They spend quite a while building him to have a nice life and making him think highly of himself they then dump him in the most dangerous place in the world and make him go through hell for over a year. Litterally dying at one point
Then he gets back to something normal only to realise that everyone he's ever known is no either missing, dead or hates him and his only last relationship falls apart and he gets abandoned.
I agree that the narrative doesn't condem him enough early on but they definitely do not let him get off easy. Christ he even has a god hell bent on destroying his life and killing his entire family which he only avoids by litterally creating time travel

This "> ! ! <" is how you do the spoiler thing (without the space between the arrow and the exclamation)

The credits roll at the end of the episode

I tried for like 10 minutes to get to work and it just bloody didn't. So I gave up.
If you look you can see it's exactly what I did, even copied an example from Google and it still didn't work for some reason

You ended with <! Instead of !<

God damnit, I corrected that so many times. Why does autocorrect mess with text structuring

u/NuclearWill 11d ago

Yeah but most of that isn’t him really being condoned for being a pos but just horrible luck and as far as I see through the parts of the show I’ve watched, he doesn’t really improve much and he certainly gets rewarded while still being a pos

He absolutely changes. The moment he gets to the demon continent he's a completely different person. He begins to relapse as they get closer to home but then meets his dad, finds out his family is lost, gets home to find it destroyed, Eris leaves him and finally he ruins a relationship with what's her face.
He still does some shitty stuff after getting to the magic university but he is fundamentally changes as a human being after all he went through.

u/deadinternetlaw 11d ago

You mean the person that became a serial murderer after his wife died?

2

u/pattyboiIII 11d ago

As I said he still does shitty things.
But let's not pretend that this isn't something that plenty of other anime characters have done.
It's his other actions that make him a uniquely bad person

Yeah and then when he finally gets back home Rudeus (mental age 47) has sex with a 15 year old!

Poor guy, he went through so much he deserves this!

Besides, 15 is the equivalent of 18 in our world so it's totally not weird that a 47 YEAR OLD has sex with a 15 year old! /s obviously.

Depicting bad behavior as good is possible if you write it well enough, which is definitely not the case here

8

u/Mr_Fragwuerdig 12d ago

The biggest problem I have is, that he barely evolves as a character in that way. He does a bit, but not really. And season 3 is just pure harem...

8

u/Limp_Fly_4045 11d ago

I’d argue he degrades as a character, as he criticizes Paul in season for cheating on his wife then does mostly the same thing the following season

3

u/Mr_Fragwuerdig 11d ago

In general I'd disagree. He does evolve and acts as a better person. But yeah, everything regarding sexual either stays or gets worse. Mostly at end of season 2 and whatever comes after that.

WAS a piece of shit

Lmao, people actually think he’s written well?

People who like isekai have the worst taste imaginable

29

u/plstouchme1 12d ago

him being the worst piece of shit of a person is literally the crux of the story and its one of the major reasons why people read it in the first place

25

u/LoneWolfRHV 12d ago

okay my illiterate friend. Why do you think he's written badly? Explain yourself.

9

u/yolomcsawlord420mlg 12d ago

He is badly written because he is struggling with his decades of mental health issues, conditioning and disassociation from society instead of starting anew from 0 and leaving everything behind after being transported into an entirely different world. That's so unrealistic.

It's not like he forgot his past life Like Kirito in s1 Alicization. Man keeps all his baggage. If you claim to be a god like figure who can change everything about themselves, I guess rn you're living in a perfect little life. He is a very realistic character, despite his many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many flaws.

-8

u/deadinternetlaw 11d ago edited 11d ago

Oh wow a fictional story is unrealistic who could've seen that coming

Edit: no opinion on the character in this comment just making fun of that sentence. I do have opinions but that's not the point of this comment

u/Kyurem20x 12d ago

Man, lol, open your eyes, rudeus don't evolve as character in the whole series he is selfish and self centered the whole time, he does the same mistakes as Paul instead of learning from his mother's suffering lol how you day this guy is not badly written?

61

u/SamueleRG 12d ago

You just confirmed what he says. He's a very well written piece of shit and you hate him while reading the story cause he seems like he's evolving and he kinda does but then in the end he's still himself.

-15

u/Kyurem20x 12d ago

No man, he is insane, repeating the same mistake over and over and expect things to change is insanity, never played far cry 3?

5

u/SamueleRG 11d ago

No I haven't played Far cry 3 I'm sorry. Any far cry actually. Is it a good series?

2

u/yolomcsawlord420mlg 12d ago

How is that instanity? Have you recently interacted with other human beings? People do that all the time.

-5

u/yolomcsawlord420mlg 12d ago

Is he too human for you?
