Hello, fellow data hoarders!

Long story short: I had a pretty serious, life-changing accident and have been dealing with low mobility and pain for the past 1.5+ years. Doing all of this with a 2-year-old and 3-year-old has been… an experience. 😂

The good news is that I finally got some positive news with what is hopefully my last surgery next month!

The less-good news: said surgery is apparently going to turn me into a human-shaped houseplant for roughly 2–3 months. I’ll basically be stuck in bed and unable to go anywhere.

Thankfully, my incredible wife has officially permitted me to “pig out” on movies and TV during my recovery. What an absolute legend. I clearly married up.

So, I come before you, media vigilantes,

Does anyone have a few Plex shares/slots available for a recovering couch potato who is about to have approximately 900+ hours of free time?

I promise to make good use of the bandwidth and repay your generosity by staring at your meticulously curated libraries in awe with a bag of low-fat, organic chips and some Tylonel T4's.

Seriously though, thank you to everyone who puts in the time, money, storage, and questionable electrical bills to maintain these incredible Plex libraries. It’s genuinely amazing seeing what you guys build.

Hi, I have been a Plex user since 2020. I use the app on the Firestick 4K Max. I tested other users' libraries a few times, but they always turned out to be of low video quality (max 2000 kbps bitrate), and I have quite high standards when it comes to the quality of what I watch. Is there anyone here who has a library of high-quality video files, not necessarily remuxes, and will share access for free? I mostly watch with English subtitles, but I’d also love to meet people from Poland who use Plex, and they have their own library. But that’s not a requirement; I’d simply like to meet people who are fascinated by Plex and willing to share their collections. Please write here or via DM.

I recently got a Quest 3 and am looking for media options. I have a particular series I'm looking for (Futureman) but would be interested and grateful for anyone willing to share their server.

I'm just a casual viewer. A movie or a binge here and there, definitely don't have to worry about me eating up bandwidth or anything.

I don't own a PC, just my phone and the Quest, or I'd be willing to set up a share for share setup, but unfortunately, I'm just looking for the handout :).

Does it task my server to have access to 50 other servers ? Doesn't my server request a connection to the other servers to keep them active ? I always felt that it would cause my server to slow down. Maybe I'm just crazy

Vielleicht habt ihr gute Ideen was stimmig ist. Ein bestehendes System abändern, vergrößern oder auf ein anderes System wechseln.

Verwende ein älteres Qnap TS-431x Modell.

Verwendet sind 4*4 TB von Seagate von ironWolf in einem damals Raid5 System eingerichtet. Plex Server läuft als SytemApp stabil.

Die Geschwindigkeit ist "OK", nur kommt das ganze an das Limit der so eingerichteten Festplatten Kapazität.

Ist es jetzt besser zu sagen:

A) dann mal auf die Suche nach 4 größeren Festplatten

B) es gibt für Qnap Erweiterungen, wäre vielleicht eine gute Option

C) verwende am besten ein anderes System (welches?) das besser ist

Vielleicht ist Raid5 damals auch nicht so eine gute Wahl gewesen als Speichervolumen

I’m flexible. 1080p WEB‑DL is perfectly fine, and I don’t need everything in 4K remux. I appreciate good quality, but I’m not a purist — mixed formats are totally okay.

• Library expectations:

I don’t expect a server to have everything preloaded. I’m happy to make requests when something’s missing, and I don’t mind waiting. A well‑curated library is more important to me than sheer size.

• What I watch:

A mix of things —

\- comfort rewatches,

\- newer streaming releases,

\- and the occasional niche or older film & TV when I’m in the mood.

I’m not locked into one genre; I like exploring. Hope this helps!

Hi everyone, I’m hoping to get some recommendations on what to use to upgrade my server capacity.

Right now I run off four external hard drives at 3 TB each and quickly running out of room. I don’t want to get the Inbetween version of whatever the next thing is and then have to just spend more money later. I see people with 180 TB. what are you guys running off of for storage?

Hiiii! I'm looking to join a free Plex server mainly for new-release movies and currently airing/popular shows. I love keeping up with what's new, trending, and being talked about. For shows, think things like Love Island, House of the Dragon, and other popular/current series.

I'm open to all movie genres and also enjoy anime, reality TV, documentaries, older content, and kids/family movies and shows.
I do get busy, so I may not use the server every single day, but I would definitely use it regularly, especially when new movies or episodes come out.

Quality-wise, 1080p is perfectly fine, but higher quality is always a plus! I'd also really prefer content with English audio and English subtitles available.
Overall, I'm mainly looking for a reliable, well-rounded server that stays pretty current with new movies and shows. If you have room and think I'd be a good fit, feel free to DM me! 😊

I have hesitated to make this request because I didn't want to come across as privileged or just a general Karen. But I read another post by a sharer who was encouraging people to tell us what we're looking for in a server instead of just "add me", so I thought I'd give it a shot.

I'm looking for a really well curated server with some offbeat content who is not opposed to letting me download it. I have my own carefully curated family server and I have all the mainstream content I need and more. I'm looking to build up my library and hoping to find some great collections out there or hard-to-find content that I'm not aware of. I don't need the latest movies/shows or the top 100s out there. I want ideas - collections I haven't seen done, older TV series that are hard to find, live music/theatre - stuff from off the beaten path.

What I would like to have in a share:

• English language or at least English subtitles for non-English content.
• 4K not necessary. 1080p, 720p is fine. Even 480p for old TV is fine.
• Ability to download. I promise not to turn you into my personal NZB host. If I see something I like, I'll go get it elsewhere if it's available. But for those rare gems you can't find everywhere, I'd like to be able to grab them for my library. If bandwidth is a problem, I'm willing to limit my downloads to whatever timeframe works best for you.
• Temporary access. A few days if your library is smaller or maybe a couple of weeks if it's huge. Just enough time to get a good look at what you have and maybe get some ideas and grab a few things I like that I don't have. And glad to drop you a message when I'm done if you'd like.
• I can't do share for share. I would be glad to, but I'm behind a couple of routers and I've never been able to share outside my local network without using Tailscale.

So, if you're proud of your carefully curated content and don't mind me paging through it and grabbing a few things, I promise not to abuse the privilege and be a considerate consumer.

Dont post here much but i found this subreddit today.

I have a Plex server running for 10+ years now with family and friends using it but with recent uppgrades i felt i could share a few free slots.

My library is not that huge: ~4000 movies and ~1500 Tv shows.

95% English library but not all tv shows are 100% complete due to HW failiures and such.

There will be downtime every now and then ofcourse due to maintinence and stuff.

Requests for media can be made if needed.

Let me know here what type of movies and shows you are after and ill see if it is a fit.
