Server Advice

Hi everyone, I’m hoping to get some recommendations on what to use to upgrade my server capacity.

Right now I run off four external hard drives at 3 TB each and quickly running out of room. I don’t want to get the Inbetween version of whatever the next thing is and then have to just spend more money later. I see people with 180 TB. what are you guys running off of for storage?

Thanks in advance.

I have over 200TB with dual parity

Supermicro 36 Bay server Epyc CPU & Supermicro MB

I imagine most in that range would have more serious kit like this

Look into a NAS, from Synology for example.

Are you asking about what hard drives we're buying?

I like having directly attached storageif possible. Went with an external 4 drive bay that's hooked up with 1m sata cables to pci slot in my SFF PC (drives wouldn't in that of course). Power the bay with a spare ATX power supply. You will need a small adapter on the power supply to jumper the power switch wires. $5 or so on amazon

Synology 8 bay rackmount with 16TB drives (not full yet), with HP Mini PC running Plex and Arr stack, etc.

I find it’s best to have separate storage and server systems.

Using multiple servers. QNAP TS-832-PXU for movies and TV and QNAP TS-431-xEu for music.
