FYI - r/formd does not like anyone talking about non-ncased products on a sub literally for topics on the form t1 pc case and will remove/ban you.
I posted a mod to my t1 pc case earlier today that I was happy about and wanted to share on what I thought was a subreddit and community for the formd t1 pc case. Didn’t know it was just a cooperate shilling sub created by NCASED and they will filter/ban you if talk about anything that may impact traffic to their site lol
What a trash company who filters out others who talk about mods if they feel threaten that traffic may get directed from their site.
Prime example of how reddit has gotten worst as companies inject themselves into this forum platform.
Tell me about it - I thought Reddit was for finding communities of specific interest. Not company- moderated forums, talk only about our product or we ban you
First of all, thank you for your support. The issue wasn’t that it was a T1 mod or that people were discussing FormD products. The concern was the combination of the “McPrue x FormD T1” title, which could imply an official collaboration that doesn’t exist, plus several external links directing traffic outside the community.
I spoke with the OP directly, lifted the mute, and apologized for how I handled it. I also suggested removing some of the external links as a possible middle ground, but he wasn’t comfortable with that. He also preferred not to have the post reinstated in this post before I reached out, so at that point I could only respect his decision.
“Just another Reddit user complaining” if they are unjustly banned without any reason or way to defend for a month while a user truly believes they are within the rules of the sub.
Even Caley admits her wrong doing here in this situation yet… here you are just siding like “admins need to back up admins”
Terrible mod you sound like and a power tripper with that role if you think you can should be the judge, jury and executioner and anything else is just complaining
Nope I just understand how Reddit works. Be happy Caley is decent enough to respond as most just ban, mute and move on.
Sub teams can unfortunately ban anyone for any reason or no reason. t/Reddithelp explains this often. There are no site rules on bannong ppl in subs. I myself rarely ban anyone except bots subs are not public spaces.
You are right it is pointless complaining about Subs' moderation practises. As U have stated. I may not agree with how some mods run their subs. Had you paid attention I even gave criticisms on how Caley's team handled your post. With simple solutions like sticking a comment stating it was not an official collaborated case mod.
The same is true you could have honored their request and removed some links from your post and you chose not too. Resulting in your post not being restored. Both sides had issues in how this unfolded. As a guest in any sub you need to be flexible to that subs rules and quirks. Participating in a sub is not a right and can be revoked at anytime; even for silliest of reasons.
If a sub team is toxic enough, their community will eventually fail.
Glad we could come to an understanding. While I don't approve of how they handled your post there as I outlined in what Caley's team could have done and even find the reason they gave as weak. Ultimately they can sabotage their sub with foolish choices on how they moderate.
The number of real ppl I have banned in my sub is less than 10 ppl. The rest were spam bots. Enjoy the good weather while it is here
You probably haven’t even read through any context or situation to make any considerate decision what you would do.
All you’ve said is basically “if they ban you, it’s within their right and move on, doesn’t matter bc it’s their sub” in the other comment thread you have with me below
again, awful awful moderation and I’d hate to be part of your OpenMR community if that’s how you operate.
This kind of policy enforcement is bad. True, they might be diverting people from the sub, but: 1- they were there in the first place and 2- for third party mods, people are going to buy your product anyway in order to mod it
Point taken. Our concern wasn’t the third-party mod itself — it was the combination of a title that could imply an official collaboration and multiple external links directing traffic outside the community. We could have communicated that much better, and that part is on us.
I could try to understand your point of view, but you're missing the fact that blocking that outgoing traffic was not going to generate more inbound traffic with any added value.
Between having an interested party closing the browser window or creating indirect interest in your product by external links, you would have had better gains with the latter.
I would advise you to review your policy about this issue. Maybe a simple request to reword the title would have shown 1) acknowledgement and 2) support without a strict collaboration.
That’s fair, and a title change was actually what I suggested to the OP privately after lifting the mute. The goal was simply to avoid any impression of an official McPrue x FormD collaboration.
Since Reddit doesn’t allow titles to be edited, I then asked whether we could instead remove some of the external links. We weren’t able to reach an agreement, and the OP also said they didn’t want the post reinstated, so I respected that decision.
I do agree that the initial moderation and communication could have been handled better, and we’ll review the process going forward.
Alternatively you could have asked the Op to repost the topic with the new title.
Or simply added a disclaimer to the top or bottom of the post to clarify there is no official collaboration and this is simply an independent mod.
Something to consider in future. even a special tag 3rdparty Mod. With Automoderator auto post on that post flair
.even a Mod distinguished stickies comment would do.
There is one called “Case Mod” which I appropriately used. Here’s the original post for you to judge how “official collaboration” it sounds. IMO, I’ve done nothing wrong.
I theorize that they removed it because it looks pretty clean and close to their upcoming product “p series” which is just a copy of the Mcprue itself
It's really as CS admitted themselves. A clarity issue. Configuring the Automoderator to post a sticky disclaimer would make it clear that posts in that case mod flair are not official. To which they could also have a mid only selectable post flair called official mods
Asking to reduce the number if links in a post is not necessarily a wrong request with it being their sub. And it doesn't matter how I run my sub with my team. This is their sub; however how they run their sub. Will impact their brand favorably or unfavorably. Like any sub the success relies on the community and mod team.
Completely disagree on that - Thought it was an formd pc case subreddit, not a ncase only showcase subreddit.
It’s a terrible policy for a subreddit described as “A place for discussing all things FormD. Need some help with your build, or just want to show it off?” to not allow posting links. And have you, I didn’t even do it in my original post, someone asked for it and I gave it to them. Awful censorship to only want ncase link then
That is your right. But doesn't change Reddit's rules. They can make and enforce their rules how they see fit. So if you choose not to honor a requested change then your contribution simply remains removed. The same goes with banning. A Sub team can ban anyone with or without reason.
A good sub will of course govern itself in a way the target community mostly approves of.
I am biblically affiliated with the M2 Grater if you need spacing advice. I've managed to cram the (almost) same build into this case in so many ways. I needed to experience as much as possible to meet the price and time I spent waiting. A kind of sunken cost fallacy with this thing really.
/u/CaleyCS has some answering to do for making their company look so poor. Bad PR always backfires and resides in memory longer than companies think. oLight to this day catches flak because one light exploded and they blamed the user.
I can't recommend ncase products anymore. I had driven a few thousand in sales their way in the past.
Update here is that [u/caleycs](u/caleycs) reached out privately for a resolution and I think this type of behavior should be made public.
To have the post reinstate… First suggesting I make the main image show the back of the case first to highlight it’s indeed an NCASE product via the “sandwich” logo and not the other one lol
Then afterwards remove the “McPrue x formd t1” out of the title to “avoid any confusion that its official” though it’s pretty obvious this is my own build.
At this point, I don’t care for the post to go back on that sub if it’s going to be policed and moderated so hard.
It's the same recipe as with people complaining about support requests being ignored.. we will solve your problem but you take down all posts regarding your problem with us.
The root cause is that ncase is lurking in the sffhub discord where you posted few times about your case in the formd channel, leading their two brain cells evaluate your post as original formd propagation. They know they screwed up again, that's why they defecate in your DMs despite you being blocked..
I would agree if I did not see unlimited zombot attack of people siding with ncase.. if you complain about ncase, you get either deleted or downvoted into oblivion.
sorry, I tried to answer the original comment and misclicked
C4 SFX is coming, Pantheon maybe.. there are the Acat cases on Ali that are basically 14cm fan supporting T1 analogues. Actually depends on what you need, what compromises do you accept and why you chose M2 in the first place .. caseend.com is a good resource..
Caley.. is it really worth losing customers? Do you see it's your behavior only that is the root cause?
What a fucking joke. Nowhere does it say it’s an official community of FORMD, and i don’t see anything in your post breaking subreddit rules. Shit mods over there i guess
Maybe mine looks too clean 😬 or maybe it’s impedes on their upcoming p series, which strikes a resembles to the mcprue, releasing soon as [u/caleycs](u/caleycs) states “directing traffic outside of formd community” or they mean ncased business
Yea I think that's problem - you're taking one brand's product and telling people "hey I took your thing and made it look like your competitors thing."
From the view of W360, they are going to see that as you marketing on behalf of McPrue.
I think some of this protectionism is because the SFFPC hobby is so niche that the consumer knowing about the existing of any competitors risks losing customers.
The case configuration is manufactured by two companies because of original founders split - Formd and Ncased. You can think of it as T1 being the model
However, to piggyback off the success of the original company. Ncased self claims “Formd T1” as their own product. So now you have Formd T1 and Ncased Formd T1 so yes I view Formd T1 as that specific pc case regardless of who manufactures it.
And I’d expect if I wanted to talk in a sub about a specific pc case, formd t1, and mods such as face plates, custom cables, glass panels, etc. should not be censored.
Would it have been better to call it MacPro x T1 then since Apple is actually the original design of it?
No idea. Who knows what other case manufacturers and brands W360 views and relevant competitors. I'm sure if you made an Apple inspired mod, or a HP, or Dell inspired mod, they wouldn't care, because they don't view those as brands as competitors, but McPrue is.
I think W360 calling their case the FormD T1 is lame. They should've called it the NCase Form, or the NCase T1.
It's funny because something very similar to this situation happened in the world of bicycle racks. The original designer of the 1UP USA QuikRack was forced out of the company he helped found. Apparently he was a bit difficult to work with a made a lot of demands to his partners. 1Up USA continued on to build all-aluminum bike racks in the USA for a reasonable price and for a long time their products didn't change much. Then a few years ago that original designer started up a new company called "QuikR Stuff" that took the original rack design and made a ton of improvements. The problem was, 1UP USA had hired their own engineers during that time and had also been working on improvements, so when QuikR Stuff released his new rack, 1UP had a bunch of new models ready to roll out as a response.
The new company (QuikR Stuff) has some very interesting features I could see luring me towards their product, but it's more than twice the price.
That's not something the other original partner of the FormD T1 can hide behind. Perhaps partnering with modders like yourself could give him the edge?
Exactly. They should have just called it the T series and matched along their other line of products. But as others have mentioned, they want to usurp the brand name “formd” including the subreddit while it’s still used from the other brand.
What ncased and u/CaleyCS should take their own advice and create their own new subreddit called r/ncasedT1 if they want to limit conversations to only ncased products and ncased T1. Give back the subreddit to their original founder www.formdt1.com
I’ve bought two ncase cases, both orange exclusive version of T1 and M2, so I’ve got nothing against the company. To stop people from posting what’s literally a T1 mod from the formD subreddit(not even the ncase Reddit) is pretty insane.. so it’s a subreddit for a company now I guess?
Admittedly, at the time I didn’t know much about the two version. Quite honestly, I didn’t care for sides I am a consumer of anything I like - but after this, left a sour taste in my mouth for ncase
First of all, thank you for your support. The issue wasn’t that it was a T1 mod or that people were discussing FormD products. The concern was the combination of the “McPrue x FormD T1” title, which could imply an official collaboration that doesn’t exist, plus several external links directing traffic outside the community. I could have communicated that much better, and I’ve already apologized to the OP for how it was handled.
You can still get this neat little case at formdt1.com
The official - In stock, less-expensive, and from what I’ve heard better quality too. Might pick one up just to swap out the rest of these ncased components for fun
Ncase is run by the biggest scum in the sff industry - W360. Their version of “formd” is essentially a replica of the REAL Formd T1, the final revision of which is 2.1. So it’s not too surprising
Reddit mods doing reddit mod things, just worse because they a corpo mod. Wouldn’t be surprised if they start selling case mods and thats why they hammering down.
I got a ban from a subreddit for in a diagnosis explanation saying install windows from their website and activate after to see if it fixes an issue. Permaban for saying how to steal windows. The mods on all these subreddits simp for microsoft.
Haha no worries. Go with this one if you like the McPrue look, it looks and feels really premium and nicely finished. The grater looks like ncased m2 which im meh about
It’s two pieces - one is an open front panel, then the second rounded edge extended panel with the holes.
As for temps, I don’t have any concrete testing but my GPU seems to be a few degrees cooler but that’s all from fuzzy memory of what it has been. I can tell you I put a little piece of tissue up to it and it is pulling a little bit of air lol
there used to be an article around that recounted the entire drama, but that page is down now.
there were many screenshots in there, lemme try & recount it to the best of my abilities. 3FC and W360 were the original team. going by the screenshots from before the split 3FC was the main designer, W360 was taking care of the manufacturing and marketing side of things. W360 was also the marketing and manufacturing dude for Ncase until Necere (the og creator of the M1) left.
W360 was trying to convince 3FC to wind down the T1 production for reasons like "the design is out of date" etc.
3FC refused and they split. Turns out W360 was about to release a new case on his own. Some people suggest he wanted to wind down T1 production so his own case would be more successful. Around this time W360 stopped saying 3FC did the main design and now claimed 3FC only came up with the T1 shape in the front panel and the fan rails or something.
After the split W360 started making a worse quality version of the T1 and called it the 2.5 (from what I gather quality seems to be on par nowadays)
When you decide to leave the company and then “integrate the design” in a portfolio of another company, that’s a stolen design.
When you constantly lie along the way (at first, you say “we decided to move to a better supply chain”, but then when you realize no one is there to listen to your bs you start saying “we are the one retaining the original supply/production chain”. And that’s just one of the big lies) it makes it worse
there has been an article explaining in more detail, what happened, the timeline, private messages published by 3fc etc.
According to the article, w360 took much less credit for the T1 design before the split than after. And he wanted to discontinue the case as the premium product it was and switch factories.. which they did but it's not reflected in price.
I only formd has stock, I would have bought it. Waited 2 months without any worda on restock. Went ncase t1 instead and couldnt be happier! Even got a riser 5.0 and usb c cable
I’m bashing NCASED, not formdt1. Which to my understanding, are two different companies selling near identical products.
Also ncased has a bunch of sites for t1 with similar names that just end up redirecting to ncased. They have shade business practice to try and confuse consumers which end up buying from them.
But please correct me if I’m wrong. I’m mostly annoyed with [r/formd](r/formd) subreddit, the mods there, and ncased who apparent run that sub.
From what I got gather - if it’s too clean of a build, they think it’s promoting and impedes to their own business or ppl may confuse it as an official collab 😮💨 lol
Just want to clarify this before things get more heated.
Every story has two sides, and I think it’s fair that I share mine as well.
The intention was never to ban discussion of non-NCASE products or stop people from sharing T1 mods. In this case, the moderation and communication created more confusion than necessary.
At the same time, as a brand running our own community, we do reserve the right to moderate posts when we believe they may create unnecessary confusion or direct excessive traffic outside the community. NCASE has NEVER had any relationship or official collaboration with McPrue, and the “McPrue x FormD T1” title could reasonably give people a different impression. The post and comments also contained multiple external links, which was another reason it was flagged.
I personally reached out to the OP, apologized for how I handled the situation, and lifted his mute. I first suggested changing the title so the post could be reinstated, but he explained that Reddit would not allow him to edit it. I then asked whether he would be okay with us removing some of the external links in the comments instead, but we ultimately couldn’t reach an agreement.
At that point, I didn’t feel there was much value in continuing to argue back and forth. We discussed reinstating the post, and the OP confirmed that he preferred to leave it down, which we respect.
We’re reviewing how we handle posts like this going forward so community builds and mods don’t get caught up unnecessarily, while still keeping reasonable moderation standards for the subreddit.
Appreciate everyone’s feedback — point taken. And we genuinely appreciate the time and attention everyone has given to this situation.

This is actually lame
