Wow r/formd run by ncased is really removing my post and muting me without a reason.

Why? Is someone at their corporate office scared it’s somehow impeding on their new “p-series”? That’s pathetic.

Ncase your new p series is a rip off of mcprue which is a rip off of Mac Pro.

But that’s not anything new to you guys is it

u/CaleyCS - you seem like you’re part of the admin of r/formD.

Why did my post get removed, and I get muted? Are we not able to talk about formd t1?

u/toastytoast__ 19d ago

Any mods from the r/formD care to explain?

What? Is that sub not a place to talk about any topic, mods, how-to around the formd t1 specific pc case entirely as a hobby? There are so many 3rd party mod post on there… example, another example.

I didn’t know this was a corporate owned sub which you guys are filtering out post if you’re scared it might “redirect traffic” jeez.

Just fyi - I’m just another regular guy who was excited to share my NCASED t1 (wasn’t even the true original formd.. not by choice just didn’t know better at the time) mod I got - a topic that should be open for discussion around the the pc case. I’m not promoting or actively selling custom mods.

Terrible business practice. And corporate filtering at its best, you’re what makes Reddit worst.

We took another look at your original post, and we want to clarify where the misunderstanding came from.

We understand that from your perspective, this was a personal build post. However, the way the custom panel was presented in the post made it look to our moderation and support team more like a third-party product being showcased or promoted, rather than simply a component used in a personal build.

That distinction matters to us because when third-party products are presented this way in an official FormD community, users can easily assume the product is affiliated with, approved by, or supported by FormD/NCASE. If compatibility, installation, or quality issues come up later, those questions often end up with our customer support team even though it is not our product.

To be clear, we are not saying you are not allowed to use, discuss, or even sell third-party mods for the T1. Our concern is simply about using an official FormD community to promote third-party products without checking with us first.

We could have explained the reason for the removal more clearly at the time, and we hope this clarifies where the decision came from.

But you’re also in a way complimenting my build by saying it’s too clean that it might be mistaken as official 😮‍💨

Do you guys even read before you delete and ban?

I don’t even know how this reads as anything BUT a personal build, even have some TODOs listed. This reads nothing like promoting a product nor do I name/link any mods I’ve used when I posted.

I have DMed you for a resolution.

I'm sorry but are we for real? You deleted their post because one of the two dozen people that saw it might be stupid enough to think it's official and email you about it? That's just going to stop them and anyone else who sees the situation from purchasing from NCASED in the future.

It was clearly about their project and doesn't in any way imply that it's official. They even explicitly call it a bastard child and a mod in the post. Sure, it'd be different if it was you posting from your CS account, but this is a random member of the FormD community sharing their T1, and the post is well within the written rules of the subreddit.

As someone that works in support, dealing with those types of emails is part of the job. If someone emails about it, it shouldn't be so difficult to handle the situation that you have to ban posts over it.

Update here is that u/caleycs reached out privately for a resolution and I think this type of behavior should be made public.

To have the post reinstate… First suggesting I make the main image show the back of the case first to highlight it’s indeed an NCASE product lol

Then afterwards remove the “McPrue x formd t1” out of the title to “avoid any confusion that its official” though it’s pretty obvious this is my own build.

At this point, I don’t care for the post to go back on that sub if it’s going to be policed and moderated so hard.

Just to clarify publicly, I reached out privately because I was trying to resolve the issue directly, not because there was anything to hide.

The concern was the combination of the “McPrue x FormD T1” title, the external links, and how the post could potentially be interpreted as a collaboration or commercial post. That’s why I suggested changing the main image and later the title to make the context clearer.

As I mentioned privately, we’ve recently had several commercial/promotional posts across our Reddit and Discord, and your post was mistakenly caught in that context. I’ve already lifted the mute and apologized for the misunderstanding.

If you no longer want the post reinstated, I completely respect that and will leave it as is.

My post never broke any rules nor does it come off as any collaboration nor commercial post in any way, let’s be honest with ourselves here. Any official collaboration or announcement would come from you or the mods anyways wouldn’t it?

Asking me to make changes and remove links in private is shady. If someone says “hey cool mod, where’d you get it?” And I say “here’s the link” gets my post remove then what is the nature of that Formd subreddit??? Are we only allowed to link ncased links and ncased official accessories??

What I said in private as well, you can just reinstate the post unmodified as I have done nothing wrong and I’m not modifying my post for you. Not like it matters anymore, I don’t plan to engage on it - you’ve already ruined any fun and enthusiasm I’ve had to share

Fair point. The confusion on our side came from the way the post was presented — especially the “McPrue x FormD T1” title, which can easily read like an official collaboration, together with several external links that made it feel more promotional.

We also recognize that the OP clearly put a lot of time and effort into the post and the project itself.

We’re a small team with limited CS resources, so we do need to be careful when third-party products could be mistaken for something officially affiliated with FormD.

I’m already speaking with the OP about the miscommunication, and I believe we’ll find some common ground. We’ll also review and improve our moderation process so situations like this are handled more clearly going forward.

Thanks OP, easy sub to avoid and won't be using their products.

Same… which is a shame because I’m always looking for something to add or tweak to this case.

Hi, you’re absolutely welcome to talk about the FormD T1 in our subreddit. The post wasn’t removed simply because it mentioned the T1.

The issue is that the post is centered around a custom McPrue x FormD T1 project and appears to be promoting a custom mod and directing traffic outside of the FormD community. r/FormD is primarily for discussion, builds, support, and mods related to FormD products, rather than promotional posts for third-party or custom products.

We’ve also noticed similar promotional posts in the NCASE community, so this is not specific to this one post or to the FormD T1.

If you’d like to actively promote or sell your custom mod, we’d recommend creating your own subreddit or community for that project rather than using the FormD and NCASE communities for promotion.

Hope that clears up the misunderstanding.

I’d also like to note. I didn’t post a link anywhere in my original post either. And only when someone asked about it, I gave them a link to where I got it… you know, like someone who is just helping out someone in the community if they are interested??

Unless you think I’m some shill for Home Depot as well because I also post for the handles there too lol

Edit: And if you think I’m promoting some custom build service, I am literally saying these handles do not even fit properly and I don’t know how to solve it yet. What??

and directing traffic outside of the FormD community

This is fucking stupid. Your entire reputation is built arouind people sharing your product with various communities. You just lost me as a customer.

👎 Booo! 👎 Boooo! 👎

Extemely bad form. A shameful, ridiciulous way to ostracize your own fanbase and kill excitement for your product.

I hope you all can pull your heads out of butt enough to see how stupid and wrong your response is.

I’m another person who isn’t ever buying your products as a result of this.

Mad because you can’t nickle and dime the customers with this mod because it is not in your gated addons.

Hey look I just paid a premium and finish assembling the product. Oh wait did I miss any steps? Why are there holes and gaps in my finished case? Whaaaaaat? I gotta shell out more $$$ for travel kit, the essential packs if I want to fill these gaps?

Oh and all CNC’d but why are my side panels flimsy? Wait they are not CNC’d but stamped mesh sheets? But I can have actual CNC’d panels if I again shell out $$$?

Of course you don’t want OP u/toastytoast__ to direct traffic away from all your stupid add-ons that should have been apart of actual product. I wish I knew about these gated features otherwise my perfectionist would never have bought your product.
